The Government of Canada has announced the start of the procurement process for the Indirect Fire Modernization Program (IFM), which plans to purchase up to 98 new 155 mm self-propelled howitzers. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the artillery capabilities of the Canadian Armed Forces and ensuring their compliance with modern combat readiness requirements.

As part of the indirect fire modernization program, an Information Request (RFI) was sent to determine preliminary requirements and explore various options for acquiring new artillery systems. Requesting information will allow us to assess the current market opportunities and select the most appropriate solutions that meet the needs of the Canadian army.

The new 155 mm self-propelled howitzers will become an important element in the arsenal of the Canadian Armed Forces, providing high accuracy and range of fire. These systems will be able to effectively support ground operations, providing the command with flexibility and power in various combat scenarios.

The indirect fire modernization program is part of Canada's broader strategy to strengthen its defense capabilities. In the face of a changing global landscape and increasing security threats, upgrading artillery systems is becoming a critical task. The new howitzers will enable the Canadian Armed Forces to carry out their missions more effectively, both nationally and internationally.

The procurement process is expected to continue over the coming months, and a final decision on the selection of a supplier will be made after a thorough analysis of all offers. The commissioning of the new artillery systems will be a significant step forward in developing the Canadian Army's combat capabilities and strengthening national security.
