Israel to allocate 1.5 billion dollars for the production of tanks and armored personnel carriers

Merkava Mk.4 Barak Tank

The Israeli Ministry of Defense has approved a large-scale plan to modernize and expand the fleet of armored vehicles at the expense of local production. 1.5 billion dollars will be allocated for the implementation of the program over the next five years.

The funds will be used to increase the pace of production of key types of armored vehicles developed and manufactured in the country. First of all, it is planned to increase the production of Merkava Mk.4 Barak tanks, Namer armored personnel carriers and Eitan wheeled armored personnel carriers.

Special attention is paid to equipping new vehicles with modern weapons, including turrets with 30 mm cannons, which significantly increases the firepower and versatility of vehicles in combat. Such weapons are effective against infantry, light armored vehicles, and low-flying aerial targets.

The program is aimed at strengthening the combat readiness of the ground forces, replacing outdated models and ensuring technological superiority on the battlefield. Increasing the fleet of armored vehicles will also increase the level of protection of crews and infantry in modern conflicts.

Switzerland may buy fewer F-35s due to rising costs and pressure on duties

Switzerland continues to consider the possibility of purchasing American fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets, but the volume of supplies may be revised. According to reports, the government of the country still supports the choice in favor of these aircraft, but amid rising costs and external pressure on the issue of duties, Defense Minister Martin Pfister admitted that Bern may purchase fewer machines than originally planned.

The initial plan called for the acquisition of 36 F-35A fighters to replace the outdated F/A-18 fleet. However, recently the discussion around the project has reached a new level — not only the total cost of the program is growing, but also the political tension associated with trade issues and the demands of the United States to protect its own industry.

Although the government's official position remains in support of the F-35 as the most suitable option in terms of combat performance and compatibility with allied forces, the issue of financial feasibility now requires a more thorough analysis. Possible reduction of the order is considered as one of the ways to keep the project within the budget.

A decision on the total number of aircraft to be purchased is expected after additional consultations and an assessment of all factors, including long-term operating costs and geopolitical risks.

The Ministry of Defense is looking for ideas for its "unmanned partners"

The Royal Navy is seeking fresh ideas from industry for the next phase of its Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP) program. The goal is to create a new generation of drones that can truly work in a team with manned fighter jets, whether they are fourth—, fifth-, or even sixth-generation models. These unmanned systems should be able to operate synchronously, enhancing the capabilities of their manned "partners". Special attention is being paid to the possibility of working with aircraft carriers of the Royal Navy, which means the need to develop drones capable of taking off and landing from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The Ministry of Defense wants to use the knowledge and experience of industry to properly shape the development of these unmanned systems. It is expected that such platforms will have a high degree of autonomy and will be able to perform complex tasks, including electronic warfare.

Britain launched balloons into the stratosphere: new "heavenly eyes" for surveillance without planes

The British Ministry of Defense has quietly but effectively taken intelligence to a new level — with the help of high-altitude balloons, which now hover in the stratosphere like spies on a leash. These huge unmanned balloons have been successfully tested as part of the secret AETHER project, and now they look like a real alternative to expensive satellites and spy planes.

What are the cool things about these "balloon buns"? Firstly, they fly very high — from 18 to 24 kilometers. For comparison, ordinary passenger liners fly at an altitude of about 10-12 km. That is, these balloons are above the clouds, outside the range of most air defenses and almost like in orbit, but without a rocket launch and for a penny.

Secondly, they can stay in the air for longer than a week, traveling more than 3,000 kilometers without landing. There are cameras, radars, sensors and communication systems on board. Their task is to constantly monitor the territory: monitor the movement of troops, control borders, monitor sea routes, or even assist in humanitarian missions.

And most importantly, the AETHER project relies on cheap and durable platforms. Balloons are many times cheaper than satellites or reconnaissance aircraft, and they can be quickly launched and reconfigured for a specific task.

This is especially important against the background of growing threats in Europe and the Middle East. Balloons can be part of the early warning system, complementing the satellite constellation and drones. And yes, it sounds like something from the 19th century, but in the 21st century they are equipped with the latest technology.

So while everyone is looking to the sky in search of drones, the British have put up quiet, smart and persistent balloons that see everything and don't bother anyone.

Britain is testing kamikaze drones: German startup Alpine Eagle creates "suicides" to destroy UAVs

The British army is looking for a way to effectively deal with kamikaze drones, and is now starting to use the same tactics itself. The British Ministry of Defense has launched tests with a new type of drones that not only detect enemy UAVs, but attack them directly with full dedication.

The German startup Alpine Eagle, founded in 2023, became a partner in the project. Despite its young age, the company has already developed a drone capable of intercepting enemy drones in the air — literally sacrificing itself by crashing into a target and destroying it on impact. It's like an "aerial samurai": it takes off, finds an enemy, and both fall.

Such drones are particularly effective against small and cheap UAVs, which are increasingly being used in attacks both in Ukraine and the Middle East. Traditional air defense systems (missiles, cannons) are ineffective against them — they are too expensive. But a kamikaze drone can be a cheap, fast and accurate solution.

Testing is still underway, but it is already clear that the future of drone defense is not only in electronic interference or lasers, but also in aerial duels where machines fight each other. And Britain clearly does not want to be left behind.

Bloody border conflict: more than 10 dead in fighting between Thailand and Cambodia

The situation on the border between Thailand and Cambodia has reached a new, extremely dangerous level. As a result of large-scale clashes on the disputed section of the border, more than 10 people were killed, including several civilians. These are the most serious losses during the current round of the conflict, which broke out with renewed vigor back in May, but has now reached a critical point.

Thailand claims that Cambodian troops were the first to open fire with heavy weapons, including artillery and possibly MLRS. According to them, it was a provocation, followed by an attempt to violate the border line. In response, the Thai army gave a decisive rebuff.

Cambodia, in turn, insists that its military acted solely in self-defense, claiming that Thai units were the first to cross the border and begin aggressive actions. The Cambodian Ministry of Defense calls its actions legitimate and necessary.

At the moment, fighting continues in several border areas. Explosions are heard, artillery and drones are working. The local population is in a panic — many are fleeing their homes, and Thai authorities have already begun evacuating four provinces.

And the political situation has escalated to the limit.:

- Thailand has recalled its ambassador from Cambodia.

Cambodia responded in kind: it recalled its diplomats from Bangkok and ordered all Thai diplomats to leave the country.

Such a complete break in diplomatic contacts is a rarity between the countries of Southeast Asia. This suggests that the conflict has already gone beyond local skirmishes and may affect the entire regional stability.

Previously, Thailand and Cambodia had already fought from abroad - the dispute was especially acute around the temple of Preah Vihi. Now, it seems, history is repeating itself, but with new technologies, more casualties, and a real threat of escalation.

Thailand closes border with Cambodia after shelling and drones — evacuation, casualties, border massacre

In the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, the first civilian victims appear

A real military conflict broke out on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. It all started with shelling — according to Thai media, the Cambodian military opened fire on Thai territory, including the use of multiple rocket launchers (MLRS). In response, Bangkok reacted sharply: it closed all border checkpoints and announced its readiness for escalation.

The situation is out of control. Authorities in four Thai provinces bordering Cambodia have begun evacuating residents from border villages. People are leaving, leaving their homes — the threat has become so serious.

Thailand accuses Cambodia not only of shelling, but also of reconnaissance activity: Cambodian drones allegedly filmed border areas, and the military was preparing to transfer heavy weapons. This, according to Bangkok, is a sign of preparation for larger—scale actions.

Cambodia, in turn, denies everything. The country's Defense Ministry says that the fire was opened solely for self—defense purposes, saying that Thai units were the first to violate the border or conduct provocations. However, the fighting continues, and there are already confirmed reports of the first civilian casualties on both sides.

This is the most serious spike in tension between the two countries in recent years. Thailand and Cambodia have previously clashed over disputed territories, especially around the temple of Preah Vihi, but now the situation looks much more dangerous: heavy weapons are being used, civilian targets are being shelled, and the population is being evacuated.

The international community is still watching, but if the fire is not extinguished in the coming days, the conflict could develop into a full-fledged border crisis with unpredictable consequences for the entire Southeast Asia.

Great Britain is preparing to reveal UFO secrets at military hearings

The British decided to go all-in and seriously tackle the topic of UFOs. The first ever public military hearings are planned in London, where military personnel from the Royal Air Force, Army and Navy will be able to talk about their encounters with unidentified aerial objects.

Yes, the same guys in uniform who used to be silent as partisans can now share the truth about what they saw in the sky. We are talking about events that have been hidden for a long time, either because of strict rules on non-disclosure, or out of fear of being ridiculed.

This initiative was born thanks to a new UFO disclosure group led by documentary filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee. The Group has already held an important meeting with the Minister of the House of Lords to create a special forum for testimonies and evidence from those who have experienced such phenomena.

Earlier, the group sent an official letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling for full disclosure of information about UFO sightings. And now the matter has moved on — the Prime minister's assistant even personally organized a meeting that could lead to the creation of a special committee to investigate such cases.

Interestingly, all this is similar to what has already happened in the United States — where Congress recently reviewed classified UFO materials that caused a wide public outcry. The British hearings may mark the beginning of a new era of openness in matters related to unexplained phenomena in the sky.

The goal of this venture is simple — to attract public attention, to change the global discussion about the possibility of the existence of extraterrestrial life and, perhaps, to begin to take such cases seriously, and not as a joke or fiction.

If everything goes according to plan, the UK will become one of the first countries where the government will officially study UFOs through the prism of national security and scientific interest. This may also affect other countries, especially European ones, where such topics have hitherto been considered taboo.

It is difficult to say exactly what evidence will be presented, but one thing is already clear — the topic of UFOs is no longer just for fans of conspiracy theory. Now this is a matter of national importance.

Israel stops the supply of Chinese BYD electric vehicles due to suspected espionage

Vehicle object detection system

The Israeli Ministry of Defense has officially suspended the supply of Chinese BYD electric vehicles to officers of the country's Defense Army. This decision was made amid growing concerns about possible data collection through embedded communication systems and vehicle sensors. Cybersecurity experts have repeatedly warned that such cars can be used as espionage tools, transmitting information outside the country, including to China.

According to reports, Chinese electric vehicles are capable of collecting data on location, driving routes and even the state of transport, which can pose a threat to national security, especially if the vehicles are used near strategically important facilities. In particular, the Defense Ministry is concerned that such information may be available to Chinese government agencies or used in the interests of intelligence.

Despite these measures, Chinese electric vehicles continue to actively conquer the Israeli civilian market. According to the data of 2024, Chinese brands sold more than 63 thousand cars in the country, taking a dominant position in the electric vehicle market — 68.69% of the total volume. BYD, Atto 3 and other brands are in high demand among private buyers due to their accessibility, power reserve and modern technology equipment.

Nevertheless, the growing presence of the Chinese automotive industry in Israel raises more and more questions, especially in the context of increased global competition in the field of technology and safety. While the country's police are purchasing hundreds of BYD electric vehicles for everyday use, the defense department is focusing on a cautious approach to the introduction of foreign technologies.

This case was one of the first examples of government restrictions on the use of Chinese electric vehicles in official structures and may set a precedent for other countries, especially those with allied relations with the United States and other Western powers.

US arms supply system to Ukraine: how it works and why it is beneficial

There is a document that clearly shows what the system of supplying American weapons to Ukraine looks like. This is not a direct help. This is not a "humanitarian mission." This is a business.

It all starts with the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine writes a "request list" (LoR). It is checked by American military officials at the US Embassy, then approved by the European Command of the US Armed Forces, and only then sent to Washington, to the DSCA agency, the Office for Defense Cooperation.

That's where the main thing begins: the preparation of a commercial "offer and acceptance sheet" (LoA). Who compiles it? The designated contractor is often a large defense corporation or a departmental office of the US army. After approval from all sides, the LoA is signed and the contract is launched.

Purchases are not made directly, but through the mechanism of the US Department of Defense. In other words, every cartridge, every drone camera, and every rifle is a paid business, involving dozens of offices, departments, logisticians, and consultants.

And in the finale, the "act of completion." A paper that records that the money has been disbursed and supplies are formally closed. And everything. You can start all over again: a new request, a new offer, new millions.

That is why war is beneficial. It works like a mechanism. Like a contract-lubricated printer that prints money under the guise of help.

The UK Ministry of Defense has increased security following the incident with Palestinian activists at the Brize Norton Air Force Base

The British Ministry of Defense has taken drastic measures to strengthen security throughout the defense complex following the incident, which Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard described as "trespassing and criminal vandalism."

Last week, members of the Palestinian Action Palestine organization infiltrated the British Air Force base in Brize Norton, where important defense facilities are located. As a result of their actions, cases of vandalism were recorded, which caused serious concern in the Ministry of Defense.

The reaction of the authorities

- Increased security measures: additional checkpoint procedures have been introduced, video surveillance and patrolling have been strengthened.

- Incident investigation: A thorough investigation has been launched to identify all those involved and prevent similar incidents in the future.

- Statements by officials: Luke Pollard stressed the inadmissibility of such actions and assured that the security of defense facilities remains a priority.

The infiltration of activists into the military base highlights the vulnerability of some facilities and the need for continuous improvement of protection systems. This case also reflects tensions and political activity related to international conflicts that may have an impact on internal security.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense has published a map of the positions of Chinese aircraft carriers, highlighting the unusual duration of their operations

On Tuesday evening, the Japanese Defense Ministry for the first time released a detailed map showing the positions of Chinese aircraft carriers from May 25 to Monday. This is a rare case when the Japanese department discloses the movements of foreign warships, which underscores Tokyo's concern about the unusually long and active operations of the Chinese navy in the region.

Since May, China has been demonstrating increased military activity in East Asia. For the first time, two Chinese aircraft carriers, the Shandong and Liaoning, are operating simultaneously in the Pacific Ocean. The Shandong conducted take-off and landing operations in the exclusive economic zone of Japan in the area of the second island chain connecting the Japanese islands of Ogasawara and the American island of Guam. Liaoning, in turn, crossed this second island chain for the first time and operated off the coast of Minamitorishima Island.

The Japanese Defense Ministry and the government have expressed concern about such actions, viewing them as a show of force and a warning to the United States and its allies. Japan has officially appealed to China not to turn its naval activities into a threat to the country's security. In response, Chinese representatives stated that the operations were routine training and were not directed against specific States.

The activity of Chinese aircraft carriers indicates Beijing's desire to expand its military capabilities beyond coastal waters and strengthen control over strategic sea routes in the Pacific Ocean. Japan, in turn, is increasing radar surveillance and diplomatic pressure to curb the growth of Chinese influence in the region.

The UK is developing a rapid launch system for large drones from Transit vans as part of the VOLLEY project

The UK Ministry of Defense has announced a search for industry proposals for a new rapid launch system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as part of the "VOLLEY Project". The goal of the project is to deploy multiple mobile launchers capable of launching five fixed—wing drones in less than four minutes, with each drone launching at one-minute intervals.

According to the published preliminary information notice, the launcher should provide a quick launch of several UAVs from one platform, including time for preparation, launch and recovery. The system is required to be able to launch at least five reference drones within four minutes of the first launch, and then recover in a maximum of ten minutes. The launch should take place from an even and static position.

A special feature of the project is the requirement to launch drones weighing up to 125 kg at a speed of at least 60 m/s (about 200 km/h) without using rocket boosters or other auxiliary mechanisms other than the launcher itself. At the same time, the system must be mobile and installed on vehicles such as a large Sprinter van or a regular Transit.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the system must be easy to assemble, reliable, able to withstand the effects of reactive gases, fuel spills and mechanical damage, as well as have minimal acoustic, thermal and visual visibility in order to effectively hide in the field.

The launcher operation should require a minimum of one to three personnel, with the ability to operate in all weather conditions, at night and when using night vision devices.

The VOLLEY project provides for the holding of an industry day on June 18, 2025, the Dragon's Den competition on August 1, field trials in October and the first deliveries no later than January 2026. It is expected that more than 20 launchers will be ordered, each costing less than 300 thousand pounds.

The project is open for international cooperation, including NATO countries, Ukraine and the Five Eyes allies.
