The Iranian president recently visited Armenia to hold important talks on the Azerbaijan corridor, which is supported by the United States. According to Tehran, this corridor can change the balance of power in the region.
Iran categorically rejects the so-called "Trump's Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP). According to the Iranian authorities, the presence of American companies in the zone of influence will create additional risks and cause serious concern among local countries. In other words, Iran sees the deployment of foreign investors and U.S. representatives as a threat to regional stability.
During the talks in Yerevan, a possible revision of the borders and the impact of the Azerbaijani corridor on neighboring states were discussed. This corridor, supported by the United States, is interpreted in Tehran as an instrument of external pressure and an attempt to consolidate the deployment of the alliance's contingent in a strategically important area.
It is important to note that the "trilateral meeting of leaders" from Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan is aimed at finding a compromise and reducing tension in order to avoid possible conflicts. However, so far, Iran's official statements emphasize wariness and unwillingness to see the expansion of external influence in the border areas.
Thus, the situation around the Azerbaijani corridor remains tense, and Iran's position is clear: any steps leading to a "revision of borders" without taking into account the interests of all participants will be met with stiff resistance.
