Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, through its American subsidiary Rafael Systems Global Sustainability, LLC (RSGS), has signed a Joint Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Center (DEVCOM AvMC). The purpose of the cooperation is to adapt and improve the **SPIKE** missile family to meet the modern operational requirements of the US Armed Forces.
The partnership focuses on tactical variants of SPIKE missiles, including:
- Spike LR2 (range up to 5.5 km) — for hitting fortified targets;
- Spike SR (compact version for infantry);
- Spike ER2 (range over 10 km);
- Spike Firefly is a barrage munition for close combat.
The SPIKE system is known for its high accuracy and ability to integrate with various platforms. Today, missiles are in service with more than 40 countries, including 20 NATO member states. CRADA will optimize their performance for the needs of the American army, including working in difficult conditions and compatibility with digital networks.
RSGS, which received a secret clearance in 2022 to work with American government agencies, will become a key link in the implementation of the project. This highlights Rafael's role as a global supplier of advanced technology to NATO and other allies.
