Hanwha Ocean has completed major repairs to the US Navy ship USNS Wally Schirra

Hanwha Ocean became the first South Korean shipyard to complete major repairs to the US Navy ship USNS Wally Schirra.

On March 13, 2025, the Lewis and Clark class cargo ship, USNS Wally Schirra (T-AKE 8), completed a seven-month maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) process at the Hanwha Ocean Shipyard in Koje, South Korea. This is the first large-scale maintenance of an American military vessel at a South Korean shipyard, which is in line with the US Navy's strategy for ship repairs in the Indo-Pacific region to minimize downtime and operating costs.
