The three planes, which are part of the top-secret military fleet of Janet passenger jets, took off from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, about 40 km from Area 51 in the Nevada Desert.
It is believed that these planes carry employees of the Ministry of Defense and military personnel to ensure the security of premises where classified information is stored.
The first plane, named Janet 33, left the runway at 7:09 a.m. and landed at 7:24 a.m. on Wednesday. The next plane, Janet 32, took off from Las Vegas at 9:38 a.m. and landed at 9:56 a.m.The third plane, Janet 46, took off at 2:11 p.m. and landed 18 minutes later, according to flight tracking data.
Area 51 is located on the territory of the US Air Force test and training ground in Nevada.
Janet, which stands for Joint Air Network for Employee Transportation, has a fleet of six Boeing 737 aircraft. Area 51 has six runways for landing Janet aircraft, including a giant 12,000-foot runway that is one of the longest in the world.
This highly classified facility gained notoriety during the Cold War when it was used to test the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, which was crucial for intelligence gathering against the Soviet Union.
