Caroline Leavitt |
Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday that the mysterious drones that allegedly flew over New Jersey in late 2024 had been approved for launch by the Federal Aviation Administration "for research and various other purposes," and that a large number of registered drones belonged to amateurs.
"Before I get to the questions, I have news directly from the President of the United States. From President Trump directly, an update on drones in New Jersey," Leavitt said during her first White House briefing on Tuesday. "After research and study, the drones, which flew in large numbers over New Jersey, were allowed to be launched by the FAA for research and various other purposes."
She continues, "Many of these drones were also hobbyists, hobbyists, and private individuals who enjoy flying drones. Over time, the situation worsened due to curiosity. It wasn't the enemy."
