US DoD Budget for FY 2025 Continues Funding for Gerald R. Ford-Class Nuclear Aircraft Carriers

USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78)

The budget request of the US Department of Defense for fiscal year 2025 provides for continued financing for the construction and equipping of next-generation nuclear aircraft carriers of the Gerald R. Ford class.

This class represents a significant leap in terms of technology, capabilities, and operational efficiency compared to the previous Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, which have been in service for more than four decades. The budget allocates funds for three ships of this class: USS John F. Kennedy (CVN 79), USS Enterprise (CVN 80) and USS Doris Miller (CVN 81).
