UK MoD Launches Project CABOT: Autonomous Anti-Submarine Warfare System with Type 92 USV and Type 93 UUV for GIUK Gap Monitoring

 


According to an industry notice, the Ministry of Defense (DoD) is developing a "deployable and permanent wide—range anti-submarine search system" based on the new Type 92 sloop, an unmanned surface vessel. — and the Type 93 unmanned submarine.

 The images associated with the program indicate that its purpose is to monitor the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom underwater area.

The initiative, called Project CABOT, aims to "accelerate RN's transition to autonomy, with a particular focus on anti-submarine warfare," by combining "manned, remotely operated, and autonomous aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles, sensors, and nodes."
