Wildfires Ravage Los Angeles: 10 Dead, Drone Collision Halts Aerial Operations, Evacuations Ordered for 180,000

Wildfires continue to rage in Los Angeles. Ten people are known to have died. One of the civil aviation aircraft collided with an unknown drone in the air and damaged the wing. Due to the incident, all aircraft engaged in extinguishing fires temporarily suspended operations.

– By the morning of January 10, the fire area is more than 10,000 hectares. The authorities called on more than 180,000 people to evacuate from the affected area.

– While extinguishing fires, an unknown drone collided in the air with a civil aviation firefighting aircraft. The Super Scooper Quebec 1 aircraft suffered wing damage and landed. Due to the collision, flights of all aircraft engaged in extinguishing fires were temporarily suspended.

– At least 10 people died as a result of the fires, the Los Angeles Department of Forensic Medicine reported. Now the bodies are being identified, their names have not been disclosed.

– The fire is being extinguished at five sites. The situation is worst in Eaton and Kennett, where the fire is still not contained. The situation is better in Palisades, Hearst and Lydia, where the fire is located from 6 to 60 percent.

– The federal authorities have promised to cover 100% of the costs of rebuilding after the fire. Joe Biden supported the decision and said that the government should "spare no expense." The total economic damage from fires can amount to up to $ 150 billion, making these fires one of the costliest in U.S. history, according to The Washington Post.
