Bashar al-Assad's Wife Linked to British Intelligence, Syrian Documents Show

The Assad couple

Bashar al-Assad's wife collaborated with British intelligence. This is evidenced by the documents published by the Syrian journalist. And Assad himself was followed when he studied in London.

Journalist Nizar Nayuf published several secret documents prepared by the Syrian special services in the early 90s at the request of Bashar al—Assad's father, Hafez al-Assad. According to Sky News Arabia, Hafez did not trust his future daughter-in-law and opposed their marriage (the wedding took place only after the death of Hafez al-Assad, and then not immediately), so he instructed the special services to monitor Asma in the UK and find out about her entourage.

Asma Asad was born in London, graduated from King's College, University of London and got a job at JPMorgan Bank. According to the Syrian intelligence services, she was accompanied and assisted at work by a British intelligence officer. The intelligence reports addressed to Hafez also indicate that during Bashar's meetings with Asma, as well as her mother, British intelligence officers were on duty in luxury hotels in London. They also attended one of the soirees hosted by Asma's father. Bashar al—Assad was also there - according to Sky News Arabia, during the meeting, the guests discussed internal Syrian affairs, Bashar's relations with members of the Baath party, as well as Syrian-Israeli relations.
