 The United States still believes that Iran has not made

decision to build nuclear weapons, despite Tehran's

recent strategic setbacks, including Israel's as-

sassination of Hezbollah leaders and two generally

unsuccessful attempts to attack Israel, two U. S. offi-cials

said.

The comments by a senior Biden administration

official and a representative of the Office

of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI)

complemented public statements made earlier this

week by CIA Director William Burns, who said

the United States had seen no evidence that

Iran's leader had reversed his 2003 decision  on the suspension of the weapons program.
