American manufacturer Northrop Grumman demonstrat-
edthe future of aircraft manufacturing with the first flight of
its aircraft with wings designed and built in a fully connected
digital stream. The wings of the Model 437 Vanguard were in-
tegrated into the operation in conjunction with the Scaled
Composites subsidiary. The device itself took off at
the end of August.
This flight demonstrated the validity of an end-to-end
digital ecosystem, which Northrop Grumman calls Digital
Pathfinder, which paves the way for faster and
more affordable design and production of its aircraft.
