The Chinese Metal Storm weapon can fire millions of rounds per minute, according to project scientists. Chinese scientists are developing a machine gun capable of firing at a speed the world has never seen before. This weapon consists of five or more barrels, each of which is capable of firing bullets at a rate of 450,000 rounds per minute. The resulting barrage has an unprecedented density, capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles flying at speeds exceeding Mach 7. For comparison, the maximum rate of fire of the most powerful Phalanx system in service with the US Army is only 4,500 rounds per minute.
