A powerful explosion occurred on Friday morning, at about 11 a.m. local time, near the American Reproductive Centers Clinic for Reproductive Medicine in Palm Springs, California. As a result of the incident, one person was killed, and several others were injured in various degrees of severity. A strong shock wave blew out windows in buildings for several blocks around, and part of the building was partially destroyed.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has already stated that it considers this incident an act of terrorism and has launched a large-scale investigation. The authorities are working to determine the motives of the attack, as well as whether it was of a domestic or international nature.
The investigation pays special attention to the version according to which the explosion could have been broadcast live, which may indicate the organized and symbolic nature of the attack. Representatives of the police, the FBI and special mine clearance services are working at the scene.
This event caused a wide public outcry, especially against the backdrop of intense debates in the United States around issues of reproductive rights and access to abortion. It is not yet known whether the target was chosen by chance or whether the attack had a specific ideological background.
The state and federal governments promised to do everything possible to solve the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
