On April 4, 2025, at the LAAD Defense and Security International Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Embraer, a global leader in the aerospace industry, and Denel, a leading South African aerospace and defense company, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This document, signed by Chris Boshoff, Executive Director of the Denel Aerospace Group, and Fabio Caparica, Vice President of Contracts at Embraer Defense & Security, opens up new opportunities for closer cooperation between the two companies.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to develop potential cooperation in the field of creation and maintenance of the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft. The parties intend to focus on the production of aerostructures, as well as on aircraft maintenance, repair and modernization. The KC-390 Millennium is one of the most advanced military transport aircraft in its category, capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including humanitarian assistance, cargo and troop transportation, aerial refueling, medical evacuation, search and rescue operations. and fighting fires.
Fabio Caparica stressed that Embraer is pleased to strengthen ties with Denel and hopes to provide South Africa with the most advanced aircraft in its category, working with the local defense industry. Chris Boshoff, for his part, pointed to the long-standing partnership between the companies and expressed confidence that Denel, as a qualified industrial partner, will be able to significantly strengthen Africa's strategic transport capabilities.
