The muzzle brake compensator of the AKM assault rifle has a special design with beveled slits, which, in addition to its main function (compensating for recoil and tossing the barrel when firing), also performs an additional role - deflects rainwater streams from the barrel of the weapon.
Structurally, this device is mounted on the muzzle of the barrel and has special beveled slots. When driving in an open area in rainy weather, these slots create a certain direction for raindrops to flow down, diverting them away from the trunk channel. This prevents water from entering the barrel of the weapon, which could negatively affect the ballistic characteristics when firing and the overall reliability of the weapon.
This design feature of the muzzle brake compensator is one of the many elements that ensure reliable operation of the AKM assault rifle in various weather conditions, which is especially important for military weapons that must function in any environment.
