BAE Systems and Hanwha Systems join forces to create Azalea multi-sensor intelligence network

On June 10, 2025, BAE Systems and the South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Systems announced a partnership agreement to explore the possibility of integrating advanced technologies within the framework of the Azalea project, a planned grouping of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets by the British Ministry of Defense.

BAE Systems will provide its synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology and ultra-broadband radio frequency (RF) technology, while Hanwha Systems will provide its expertise in search and rescue. Together, the companies plan to create a multi-sensor network that will use on-board satellite processors to ensure fast and reliable information exchange.

The Azalea project aims to increase the effectiveness of military operations and improve disaster response by integrating various data sources and creating a single information platform. Such a network will make it possible to quickly obtain accurate intelligence information in real time, which will significantly enhance the capabilities of the British armed forces and emergency response services.
