After the recent statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the concept of a "Greater Israel", an international reaction broke out, especially among Arab and Islamic states. In a joint statement, the League of Arab States (LAS) and more than 30 Arab and Islamic countries strongly condemned Netanyahu's words, calling them a direct threat to the national security of Arab countries and regional peace.
According to representatives of the Arab League and the Arab parliament, such statements represent an attempt to expand the territory of Israel at the expense of sovereign states and Palestinian lands, including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This, in their opinion, leads to the destabilization of the region and violates international law.
The Foreign Ministers and parliamentary representatives stressed that such ambitions are provocative and threaten the security of millions of people. They called on the international community, including the UN, to intervene to stop such plans and contribute to the restoration of peace and stability.
The Arab countries' reaction reflects deep concern about the continuation of Israel's expansion policy and settlement programs, which they consider to be the main obstacle to a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
