Volcanic activity on May 28, 2016
On Friday, May 27 at 20:02 UTC on the north-western part of the Yellowstone caldera was a magnitude 2.5 earthquake. The shock was recorded at a depth of 8.4 km, 10 km north-east of the town of West Yellowstone.
The same day, 2 tremors of magnitude 4.5 and 3.1 shook the ocean floor near the Cascadia subduction zone, 80 km to the west of the California coast. Earthquakes are recorded at intervals of 3 minutes at a depth of 18.5 and 22.2 km.
At 58 km from the island in the archipelago High South Sandwich Islands recorded an earthquake of magnitude 7.2. Push occurred at 9:46 UTC time at a depth of 72.7 m on 28 May. The island is of volcanic origin high and crowned stratovolcano Hodson, who allegedly erupted in 1830 and 1930.
