Mysterious drone in satellite images: the first mentions

At the beginning of the year, analysts and enthusiasts tracking military installations using satellite images discovered an unusual aircraft in China. In the images taken over one of the test sites, a large drone with a "flying wing" configuration was seen — without a tail and with smooth outlines typical of stealth aircraft.

Then the device was seen on the ground, which allowed us to estimate its size and shape. However, there have recently been reports that a similar aircraft has already been spotted in the air, indicating that the project is moving to the flight test stage.

The "flying wing" design: what does it mean

The "flying wing" design is an aviation scheme in which the fuselage and wing are combined into a single lifting surface. This shape reduces radar visibility, improves aerodynamics and increases flight range. This design is actively used in strategic aviation, for example, in the American B-2 Spirit and B-21 Raider bombers.

Given that the Chinese device has a similar shape, it can be assumed that it is being developed using advanced stealth technologies. Its large dimensions indicate the possibility of long-term missions at high altitudes, which is typical for strategic reconnaissance or strike platforms.

Comparison with previously seen samples

The new aircraft shows a clear resemblance to the drone found in satellite images earlier this year. Both objects have a similar shape, wingspan and lack of vertical tail. However, current observations confirm that the device is not just built — it is already being tested in the air.

This indicates significant progress in China's unmanned systems development program. If the initial images raised doubts about the reality of the project, it is now obvious that China is actively developing its own line of large, inconspicuous drones.

Possible purpose of the new aircraft

Although there is no official data on the purpose of the device, experts suggest several options.:

Strategic reconnaissance is a long flight at high altitudes using radar and optical systems.

Long—range attack drone - the ability to carry cruise missiles or precision weapons.

A communications repeater or control node is a role in network warfare and coordination of other drones.

Such a device can become an important element of Chinese military aviation, especially in potential conflicts in the Pacific region, where the ability to operate over long distances with minimal risk is important.

Israel is pulling troops to Gaza: satellites see preparations for an assault, and the plan has already been approved

Everything is clear from the satellite images: Israel is seriously preparing for a new, large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip. Commercial reconnaissance satellites are detecting a massive accumulation of troops and equipment right near the border with the enclave. Tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery — all this is moving into the area of a possible offensive. This is not just an exercise. This is preparation for the phased seizure of control over the most densely populated area, the city of Gaza, and, in fact, the entire territory of the enclave.

The decision has already been made: on the night of August 8, 2025, the Israeli military and political cabinet officially approved a plan, the main goal of which is the complete defeat of Hamas and the establishment of lasting Israeli control. The city of Gaza, where, according to intelligence reports, militants are still hiding and hostages may be, will be the first stage. The plan is step—by-step, but tough.

What will happen next?  

First, the mass evacuation. About a million people living in the city and surrounding areas are expected to leave their homes and move to the south of the sector. The deadline is October 7, the day of the second anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack. After the evacuation, the Israeli army (IDF) will completely surround the city, give the militants a chance to surrender, and if they refuse, a ground assault will begin. It is estimated that the fighting may drag on for several months.

Interestingly, the official statements do not refer to "occupation," but to "establishing control." This is an important legal nuance — in order not to assume responsibility for the management of the territory and the population. But, according to high-ranking sources, this is actually an occupation. Just in new words.

At the same time, Israel promises not to stop humanitarian aid. Aid will be delivered to "safe zones" in the south to encourage people to evacuate. The American GHF Foundation is already expanding its network of distribution points, but according to the UN, the situation with hunger in Gaza is critical — thousands have died trying to get to food, and many of them were killed by Israeli soldiers.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz should give the final go-ahead for the start of the operation. Reservists are currently being mobilized, and new units are being deployed to the southern borders. All this can be seen not only in the news, but also on satellite images — they don't lie.

So now it's the calm before the storm. The army is building up its forces, satellites are watching, and the world is waiting tensely. And in Gaza, millions of people are caught between a rock and a hard place again.

China is preparing a surprise: "smart" drones for fighter jets will be shown at the parade

China is clearly preparing a high—profile stunt for its next major military parade - and it's not about new tanks or missiles. This time, attention is focused on new drones, which can be a real breakthrough in aviation. According to satellite intelligence and analysts, mock—ups or even real samples of "loyal wingman" type drones are involved in the preparation for the march - the very ones that should fly in conjunction with manned fighters and make them many times more efficient.

What is a "loyal follower"?

Imagine a fifth-generation fighter, for example, the famous J—20 - fast, unobtrusive, powerful. Now imagine that one, two, or even three drones are flying behind him, which he fully controls. These drones can:

- Fly ahead and  scout the area, risking yourself instead of the pilot.  

- Carry additional missiles and expand the fighter's ammunition.  

- Create interference, distract enemy air defenses, or even attack targets autonomously — at the command of the pilot.  

Drones like "smart wings" or digital shadows. They are also called Loyal Wingman — "loyal wingman". This concept is being actively developed by the USA, Australia and other countries. And now China is entering the home stretch.

Commercial satellite images taken near the training ground where the parade rehearsals are taking place show several unidentified medium-sized UAVs. They are stored under canopies, but their outlines are recognizable: an elongated fuselage, a low—lying wing, hidden air intakes - all this indicates low visibility and high aerodynamics. Some experts compare them to the Australian MQ-28 Ghost Bat, but with the characteristic features of the Chinese design.

What is important is that there are no conventional launch systems next to them, like those of tactical drones. This means that they are most likely not just scouts, but full-fledged combat units designed to work as part of an air group.

Why would China do that?

The answer is simple: to seize the initiative in the air war of the future. Modern fighter jets are becoming too expensive and complex. But slave drones are cheaper, consumable, but at the same time very dangerous in mass. One pilot can control several of these machines, turning one aircraft into an entire combat network.

If China really shows these drones at the parade, it will be a serious signal to the world:

"We are not only copying, we are creating our own advanced systems. And we are ready for war in a new reality, where artificial intelligence and autonomy play a crucial role."

Chinese military parades are not just a show of force. This is a strategic show designed for an internal audience and external observers. Showing new weapons at such events is a way of saying:  

"Look, we have this."  

"And we can scale it." 

"Don't underestimate us."

If the "loyal slaves" appear in the ranks — even in the form of mockups — it will mean that the program is in the final stage of testing. Or perhaps she has already passed the first flight tests with the J-20 or other fighters.

China is no longer just a "player" in the military technology race — it is becoming a leader in some areas. And if everyone used to look at the F-35 and Skyborg, now they will have to study closely what Chengdu and its partners are doing.  

The future of air warfare is in human + drone bundles.  

And, apparently, China is already there.

The US accuses Chinese company Chang Guang Satellite Technology of providing satellite images to Houthi rebels in Yemen

The United States has accused the Chinese company Chang Guang Satellite Technology (CGST) of transmitting satellite images to Houthi rebels in Yemen, allowing them to strike US Navy ships and other targets. CGST operates one of the world's largest groups of Earth remote sensing satellites, with over 140 small, high—resolution satellites, making it a key player in the space surveillance market.

Founded in 2014 as a private company, CGST has grown rapidly and has become a leader in China's commercial space technology. Its Jilin-1 satellites provide panchromatic images with a resolution of up to 0.5 meters and are capable of repeatedly passing over the same point of the Earth during the day. The company is also actively implementing advanced technologies, including high-speed laser communication between satellites and ground stations.

The US charges relate to the fact that CGST may have provided surveillance data that was used by the Houthis for precision strikes against American military installations. The company has previously participated in various armed conflicts by providing satellite information.

CGST continues to expand its constellation of satellites and plans to launch about 300 spacecraft into orbit by 2030, which will significantly enhance its global surveillance and intelligence gathering capabilities.

The Chinese company MizarVision has published a satellite image of the US base on Diego Garciа

 

On May 15, 2025, the commercial Chinese satellite company MizarVision took and published a highly detailed image of the joint British-American military base on the island of Diego Garcia, located in the Indian Ocean. The photo clearly shows the US Air Force planes parked on the runway.

This island is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) and has played a key strategic role for the United States since the middle of the twentieth century. The Diego Garcia base serves as an important logistical and operational hub for the U.S. military, especially in the context of operations in South Asia and the Middle East.

The appearance of a detailed image obtained by a private Chinese company has aroused interest from analysts and satellite surveillance experts. Such images are becoming an indicator of the growth of China's commercial space industry and its ability to collect information previously available only to government agencies or large Western companies.

Although the publication does not contain classified information, it demonstrates how commercial Earth remote sensing technologies are increasingly being used to monitor strategic sites. This can have implications for global security and international transparency.

North Korea builds largest domestic warship

According to a report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), an American think tank, North Korea is building its largest warship, a new guided missile frigate at the Nampho shipyard. Satellite images taken on Sunday show the ship being built in a floating dry dock on the west coast of the country. The length of the vessel, mostly covered with camouflage netting, is estimated at about 140 meters (459 ft). If confirmed, it will be the largest warship ever built by North Korea.

Construction of the ship began in May 2024, but the details have only recently become known from open sources. Satellite images analyzed by South Korea show that the ship is equipped with a vertical launch system (VSP) for anti-aircraft, anti-ship and cruise missiles, and also has a designated area for artillery installation. This indicates that North Korea is moving towards more powerful warships than those previously known.

Interestingly, North Korea has covered the ship under construction with a protective net, making it difficult to analyze its design using satellite images. This deliberate concealment of details indicates Pyongyang's desire to keep its key achievements secret from foreign intelligence services.
