Historic departure: the United States for the first time took a hypersonic "cannon" outside its territory

The US Army has taken a high-profile and symbolically important step in its hypersound program. For the first time in its history, it deployed a long-range hypersonic weapon (LRHW) system outside the continental United States. This advanced and so far secret system has been delivered and deployed in the Northern Territory of Australia.

This event took place as part of the Talisman Sabre 25 large—scale joint military exercises, the largest maneuvers between the United States and Australia aimed at developing coherence and strengthening strategic partnership. The 3rd Multidisciplinary Task Force (3MDTF) was responsible for the deployment, a special unit created to quickly deploy advanced systems, including hypersonic weapons, anywhere in the world.

The LRHW's location in Australia is not just a demonstration of technology. This is a historic milestone confirming the system's transition from the development and testing stage to the operational deployment stage. It is also a powerful strategic signal demonstrating the ability of the United States to rapidly deploy and use its most advanced weapons in the Indo-Pacific region, where tensions are rising.

Hypersonic weapons capable of reaching speeds of more than Mach 5 (five times faster than the speed of sound) and maneuvering along a trajectory are extremely difficult to intercept by existing missile defense systems. His appearance in Australia significantly enhances deterrence capabilities and underscores the US commitment to protecting its allies, in particular Australia.

3MDTF's participation in the exercise highlights its key role in the army's new concept of distributed deployment. Instead of large, vulnerable bases, small groups with high-tech weapons can quickly appear at critical points, strike and disappear. The Talisman Sabre 25 exercises are an ideal platform for testing just such scenarios and strengthening regional stability.

Northrop Grumman handed over the "brain" of air defense: delivery of key components of the IBCS system for the US Army has been completed

The American defense giant Northrop Grumman has announced a major achievement in the program to create a new air defense and missile defense system for the US Army. The company has fully completed the delivery of all major end products (MEI) under the Initial Mass Production (LRIP) contract for the Integrated Combat Control System (IBCS).

This is not just another shipment of equipment. This means that all the key "building blocks" — computing complexes, servers, software and interfaces — necessary to create a single "brain" of air defense have been delivered to the customer. IBCS is a revolutionary architecture that integrates radars, launchers, and other sensors from different manufacturers into a single network. Instead of each complex "seeing" only its own part of the sky, IBCS gives commanders a single, holistic and maximally accurate view of the situation, allowing them to make decisions faster and more efficiently.

Completing this delivery is a huge step forward. It officially confirms the combat readiness of the system and removes the main obstacles to its accelerated deployment in real combat units of the US Army around the world. The army can now begin mass integration of IBCS into its anti-aircraft battalions, dramatically increasing their effectiveness and ability to counter modern threats such as ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

"Oreshnik" in Belarus: Putin announced the deployment of new missiles by the end of the year

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that mass production and deployment of the new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile in Belarus will begin by the end of 2025. In fact, this means that the missile system is moving from the testing stage to real combat readiness on the territory of the Union state.

Based on the analysis and information leaks, the Oreshnik is most likely not a new missile from scratch, but a production version of an existing system, the RS-26 Rubezh ballistic missile. The development of the Frontier was completed even before the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine. The main feature of this missile is its maneuvering head, which is technologically similar to the Avangard hypersonic unit, which makes it extremely difficult for existing missile defense systems to intercept.

The main target of this deployment is the NATO countries. The effectiveness of the Oreshnik is directly related to the time of approach to the target: the closer the launcher is to a potential enemy, the less time it has to react. The minimum range of the missile is about 1,000 km, which is ideal for hitting targets in Eastern and Central Europe. Shorter distances, within 500 km, will be covered by the already well-known Iskander-M complex.

Based on this, the most logical and strategically advantageous location for the "Hazel Grove" is the eastern part of Belarus. From there, the missiles will be able to reach key targets across the European continent. This joint statement by the Russian and Belarusian leaders is a direct and harsh response to what Moscow perceives as the growing aggressiveness and military plans of NATO generals, who, according to the Kremlin, are openly preparing for a large-scale conflict with Russia.

The US Army plans to deploy a second Dark Eagle hypersonic missile system in 2026, despite doubts about its effectiveness

LRHW/Dark Eagle

Despite growing doubts from experts and criticism about combat lethality and reliability, the US Army remains committed to its hypersonic weapons program and has announced plans to deploy a second Dark Eagle hypersonic missile system in 2026.

The system, officially known as the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), is part of the Pentagon's strategy to create a new generation of high-speed strike weapons capable of bypassing the most advanced air and missile defense systems. The main element of the LRHW is the Dark Eagle hypersonic missile itself, which can reach speeds of more than Mach 5 (17,000 km/h) and is equipped with an Advanced Hypersonic Weapon (AHW) maneuvering warhead.

The first battery was officially put into service in 2023 after a series of successful, albeit limited, tests. However, since then, a number of analysts and specialists have raised questions about the real combat value of the system. In particular:

- Accuracy problems when hitting mobile or low-visibility targets;

- High cost of development and production;

- A limited number of launches for a full reliability assessment;

- The complexity of logistics and integration into existing command structures.

Nevertheless, the US Department of Defense believes that hypersonic technologies are a key element of future strategic parity, especially in light of similar programs by Russia and China, which have already deployed their own hypersonic complexes such as Avangard and DF-17.

The deployment of the second system in 2026 will be an important stage in the process of building operational capabilities, and will also allow additional field tests to be conducted in conditions close to combat. According to Pentagon officials, the goal is not only to strengthen the US position in the hypersonic race, but also to develop tactics for using such systems in multinational coalitions.

In the future, the LRHW/Dark Eagle program may become the basis for creating a flexible and distributed network of hypersonic strike systems compatible with NATO and other allies.

The U.S. Navy will begin deploying Tomahawk anti-ship missiles on destroyers by the end of September

Tomahawk missile launch from the ship

By the end of September 2025, the US Navy plans to begin deploying an anti-ship version of the Tomahawk cruise missile on its destroyers. According to the head of the readiness service, this event will be a turning point in the confrontation with the numerically superior Chinese fleet. The new version of the missile will significantly enhance the capabilities of the US Navy in the fight against maritime threats, ensuring more effective destruction of enemy ships at long distances.

The deployment of anti-ship Tomahawks on destroyers will increase the strategic flexibility and strike potential of the American fleet, which is especially important in the context of China's growing naval activity in the Pacific region. This upgrade is part of a broader program to upgrade and strengthen the armament of the U.S. Navy.

Israel launches new X-intra combat UAV into mass production

X-intra combat UAV

The company Flying Production, a subsidiary of the Israeli defense concern Elbit Systems, announced the start of mass production of a new combat drone X-intra. This drone is designed to provide troops on the front line with advanced combat, reconnaissance and support capabilities.

One of the key features of the X-intra is its ability to carry a payload of up to 30 kg, which allows it to be used both for transporting equipment and for launching attacks using light weapons. Another important feature is the record—breaking ** deployment time of just two minutes**, which makes it ideal for operational use in a rapidly changing battlefield environment.

The drone is characterized by its compact size, ease of operation, and high maneuverability. It can be used as a separate unit, or as part of a network-centric system for interacting with other surveillance and communication tools. This flexibility makes the X-intra a versatile tool for tactical commanders at the company level and below.

The launch of the X-intra series production indicates a growing demand for miniaturized but effective attack UAVs that can be deployed quickly without complex logistics or specialized training.
