Rostec has released a smart compass for airplanes: new navigation without satellites

Rosel Holding, part of Rostec State Corporation, has introduced a new generation of equipment for satellite-free navigation. This equipment is designed for airplanes, helicopters and drones and will be a real salvation in cases when the usual GPS or GLONASS stop working.

The main advantage of the new product is that it works where satellite communications are unreliable or non—existent. These can be remote remote regions, dense forests, gorges, or, what is especially important in modern realities,  zones of active signal suppression (jamming). The device is capable of acting as a full-fledged autonomous backup system, providing accurate measurement of the speed and angle of demolition of the aircraft, even if all satellite systems have failed.

The developers have paid great attention to reliability and accuracy. The device has increased durability and resistance to vibrations and temperature fluctuations. And the accuracy of the readings has been significantly improved through the use of modern digital signal processing methods. According to Rostec, the new product significantly surpasses both existing Russian and foreign analogues in its key characteristics.

The equipment has already passed flight tests on various types of aircraft and has shown excellent results. Now it is ready for mass production and implementation. Its use is critically important not only in peaceful conditions (for flights in hard-to-reach areas), but also in the military, especially against the background of the growing threat of cyber attacks and large-scale electronic jamming, which can disarm equipment that is completely dependent on satellites.

Rostec, as Russia's largest machine-building holding, which unites more than 800 enterprises, emphasizes that such developments are part of a strategy to ensure technological independence and increase the combat readiness of military equipment.

"Penicillin" in seconds: how the Russian complex calculates enemy guns

The Russian state corporation Rostec spoke about the powerful Penicillin intelligence complex, which, according to them, has become a real "secret weapon" in the area of a special military operation. His main task is to find and accurately determine the coordinates of enemy artillery firing positions as quickly as possible so that our batteries can destroy them immediately. And he does it literally in a matter of seconds.

What is so good about Penicillin? His strength lies in a unique combination of data. The complex simultaneously analyzes seismic waves from shots, thermal flashes during a shot, and visual data from cameras. All this information is automatically compiled, processed by the built-in system and instantly provides the exact coordinates of enemy guns, rocket launchers, as well as anti-aircraft and tactical missile launchers. The range is up to 25 kilometers.

One of the main features is full automation. A person is not required to analyze a picture or sounds — the system does everything by itself, which eliminates errors and negligence. But the most important advantage over Western analogues is that Penicillin does not emit radio waves. He works absolutely passively, only "listening" and "watching". This means that enemy electronic reconnaissance and suppression systems simply cannot detect or disable it. The complex remains invisible until it shows you where the enemy is sitting.

The complex itself is mounted on a KAMAZ chassis (although it may be on another one), and its "eyes and ears" — a reconnaissance module with a mast — rise up for a better view. Inside there is a whole network of sensors: four sound locators, twelve thermal imagers (conventional and high—speed) and optoelectronic equipment. It works stably in extreme conditions — from -40 to +50 degrees.

The first samples were received by the troops back in 2020, and by December 2022 they were already actively used in the SVO zone. With the Ukrainian Armed Forces receiving more and more Western artillery, the presence of such secretive and fast complexes among Russian troops provides a serious tactical advantage, allowing them to keep the enemy at constant gunpoint.

The Cornet now has four times more fire: new ammunition changes the rules of the game

Kornet

The Kornet anti—tank missile system has become four times more powerful, Rostec State Corporation has officially announced. And it's not just about upgrading, but about a real leap in combat capabilities.

The secret lies in the new cassette developed by the High—Precision Complexes holding company inside Rostec. Now one such cassette can carry four 9M134 Bulat light missiles at once, instead of one heavy one, as it was before. This means that a soldier can fire four times as many missiles in the same mission — without reloading, without delay, just by pressing the trigger several times.

Imagine: you used to have one shot, and that's it, you need to change the charge. Now - four accurate shots in a row. It's not just convenient, it changes tactics. One fighter can clear an entire position without risking going out into the open.

The 9M134 Bulat missiles are not just mini versions of their older counterparts. They are guided by a laser beam, which makes them very accurate, and their range is up to several kilometers (according to Rostec, the exact figures are not disclosed, but we are talking about kilometers). This means that the shooter can fire from a safe distance without being noticed.

In addition, the Bulat was designed to destroy not only tanks, but also lighter targets: armored personnel carriers, bunkers, and equipment in shelters. That is, the Kornet is no longer just "against tanks" — it is now a universal destroyer.

Earlier, in May, Rostec had already boasted that the Kornet was capable of penetrating any armor, including active protection and a tank turret. Now, with the new cassette, he is also four times more resilient — he can work in conditions of intense combat, where every shot decides.

The updated complex is currently undergoing pilot military operation - that is, it is already being tested in real conditions, with the participation of the military. If everything goes well, the new version of the Cornet will quickly enter service.

Rostec has created an invisible radar to search for "invulnerable" drones

Russian engineers from Rostec have come up with a way to find even those drones that were previously considered almost elusive. To do this, a new passive fiber-optic radar called 3D radar was created, which can detect drones without using its own signal.

 How does it work?

Conventional radars work like this: they send a signal and catch a reflection. But if a drone flies without radio signals — for example, wired or controlled via cable — then such a device simply cannot be detected. This is where the new system from Rosel, a subsidiary of Rostec, comes into play.

This radar does not emit anything by itself — it "listens" to signals from external sources, for example, from TV towers or radio stations. If an object, such as a drone, flies by and intercepts or distorts these signals, the radar analyzes them and calculates the coordinates of the target.

Why is it cool?

— It doesn't glow by itself. Since the radar does not emit anything, it cannot be detected by radio intelligence. That is , he remains invisible to the enemy.

— Catches "dumb" drones. It is especially effective against wired drones that do not use a radio channel at all — they used to be almost impossible to find.

— Long range range. For example, a light-engine aircraft can be detected by a device tens of kilometers away.

The system was developed by the Vector Research Institute, specializing in radar technologies.

Recently it became known that an interesting system has also been created based on another Russian station, Lori. This is the LIS-A radar and optical complex, which not only finds objects, but also recognizes who it is: a drone, a person, or, say, an animal. And then transmits all the information to the operator automatically.

With the advent of such technologies, it becomes more difficult to use "invisible" drones for espionage or attacks. Russian developers are clearly not going to keep up with the times — and are making their systems smarter and more powerful.

High efficiency of Tornado-S MLRS against Ukrainian air defense and electronic warfare systems

Tornado-S

Russian Tornado-S MLRS systems show high efficiency in defeating the enemy, while Ukrainian air defense systems and electronic warfare systems are unable to prevent this. This is reported by the Rostec press service.

Guided missiles of the Tornado-S MLRS accurately hit designated targets, despite the opposition of the Ukrainian air defense and electronic warfare, showing a high percentage of damage. The system is capable of hitting at a long range, having in its arsenal various ammunition both for suppressing enemy manpower and for destroying fortifications.

Tornado-S ammunition, based on combat experience, shows a consistently high probability of breaking through enemy air defense lines. Also, guided missiles of the Russian MLRS have an advanced inertial guidance system, which successfully operates in conditions of suppression of satellite communication channels, which is very important in modern warfare, saturated with electronic warfare systems.

MLRS 9K515 Tornado-S was developed at NPO Splav named after A.N. Ganichev. The aim of the project was a deep modernization of the 9K58 Smerch serial system with an increase in all basic tactical and technical characteristics. The result is a car that is significantly superior to the basic version.

The Tornado-S MLRS has 12 guides for 300 mm rockets, and is equipped with an automated guidance and fire control system. ASUNO provides accurate positioning of the vehicle to the terrain directly from the march, and is also capable of aiming each projectile at the target separately. When using old MLRS ammunition, it hits targets at a range of up to 70 km, and new ones — over 120 km.

Tanks of the future: how they are seen at Rostec

Т-90

Russian developers continue to amaze with their innovative approaches to the creation of military equipment. The press service of the Uralvagonzavod concern, part of Rostec, told about new technologies that are already ready for implementation in the tanks of the future. These vehicles promise to be a real breakthrough in the field of armored vehicles.

According to UVZ representatives, the new tanks will receive a number of advanced solutions. Among them is layered protection, which will ensure increased survival on the battlefield. Also, promising models will be equipped with more powerful guns capable of hitting targets at long distances and in difficult conditions.

One of the key features will be the use of standard radar stations (radars) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This will significantly increase the reconnaissance capabilities and accuracy of weapon guidance.

The tanks of the future will be designed according to the modular principle, which will make their repair and modernization more convenient and faster. In addition, they will receive an optional crew capability — the ability to both be controlled by a crew and operate in a fully autonomous mode. This opens up new horizons for the use of such vehicles in various combat scenarios.

Even with the transition to completely trouble-free solutions, the size of the new tanks is unlikely to decrease significantly. As noted in the UVZ, this is due to the need to deploy powerful weapons of medium and large calibers, as well as to ensure high cross-country capability and maximum protection. Thus, even unmanned tanks will retain dimensions close to modern models.

Rostec emphasized that most of the technologies for the tanks of the future have already been developed. We are currently working on their practical implementation in order to maximize the use of scientific and technical potential. This indicates that Russia is at the forefront of global developments in the field of armored vehicles.

The tanks of the future being built in Russia promise to be a revolutionary step in the development of military technology. Thanks to a combination of advanced technologies such as layered protection, powerful weapons, standard radars and UAVs, as well as a modular principle and optional crew, these machines will be able to effectively perform tasks in the most difficult conditions. It remains to be seen when these technologies will enter mass production and change the rules of the game on the battlefield.
