Taiwan relies on "smart drones": partnership with Anduril to create a network war

 

Taiwan is taking a decisive step in modernizing its defense by entering into an important partnership. The National Chongshan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), Taiwan's leading defense developer, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American technology company Anduril Industries, known for its advanced artificial intelligence systems and autonomous platforms. The purpose of the agreement is the purchase and, probably, the joint adaptation of a control system called NGC2 (Lattice NGC2) and related unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

What is NGC2? This is not just a program, but a whole network of combat control created by Anduril. Its main task is to dramatically speed up and improve the decision—making process on the battlefield. The system does this by combining data from all available sensors — radars, cameras, and reconnaissance platforms — into a single, overall picture. Then, using powerful AI algorithms, it analyzes this information and provides action recommendations to commanders and combat platforms (shooters), turning the chaos of combat into a coordinated operation. In fact, NGC2 transforms disparate systems into a single, "smart" organism.

This cooperation is a key part of Taiwan's strategy to create an asymmetric force. Given China's huge advantage in traditional weapons, Taiwan is betting on technologies that can offset this advantage: cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and, above all, unmanned systems. Investments in drones are well underway.

The planned drones, which will operate in the NGC2 system, are positioned as "loyal wingmen" for manned aircraft. They don't just fly ahead, but actively participate in combat, performing the most dangerous and difficult tasks: conducting electronic warfare to jam enemy radars, suppressing air defense systems, and even participating in aerial combat. This allows pilots to stay relatively safe by controlling a group of drones and making strategic decisions while the machines perform tactical maneuvers.

Partnering with Anduril is not just about buying equipment. This is Taiwan's attempt to adopt an advanced American approach to network warfare, where speed, data, and autonomy are becoming crucial factors for survival.

Meta and Anduril create AR-AI headset for the US Army, turning soldiers into combat intelligence centers

Meta and Anduril Industries have announced a strategic partnership to develop advanced augmented reality (AR) systems with artificial intelligence (AI) integration for American soldiers. The new AR-AI headset, codenamed EagleEye, is designed to significantly enhance the capabilities of military personnel in the field of combat intelligence and battlefield management in real time.

EagleEye is an augmented reality helmet that combines high—precision optical systems, Meta Llama AI models, sensors, and cloud computing. The headset provides a wide viewing angle and high color reproduction even in low-light conditions, which is critical for operations in complex and dynamic conditions. The use of AI makes it possible to process data from various sources — from satellites and drones to ground—based systems - and provide soldiers with instant, accurate information for decision-making.

A key element of the solution is integration with Anduril's Lattice command and control platform, which collects and analyzes data from thousands of sensors, providing a comprehensive picture of the combat situation. This allows not only to increase tactical awareness, but also to improve coordination between units.

The EagleEye project is part of the Soldier Born Mission Command (SBMC) Next program, which will replace Microsoft's previous IVAS system, which faced technical and ergonomic challenges. The new headset promises to be more comfortable, reliable and functional.

Meta and Anduril emphasize that their cooperation is aimed at preserving the technological advantage of the United States and reducing military costs through the use of advanced commercial technologies. According to Anduril founder Palmer Lucky, the goal is to turn soldiers into "technomages" armed with intelligent and wearable computing devices.

Anduril launches Copperhead, a family of high—speed software-controlled autonomous underwater vehicles

Anduril Industries has announced the launch of Copperhead, a new family of high-speed software-controlled autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) designed for autonomous system delivery. Copperhead is designed to meet the military and commercial needs of large fleets of unmanned naval vessels.

The Copperhead includes two models, the Copperhead-100 and the Copperhead-500, each offering a different size, payload, and range for commercial and defense missions. Both models can reach speeds of over 30 knots and are equipped with various payloads such as active and passive sensors, magnetometers, side scanning sonar and chemical detection devices.

The Copperhead-M is a military variant equipped with torpedo-like capabilities. It can be launched from larger platforms such as Dive-LD and Dive-XL, and is designed for mass production. The Dive-XL can carry dozens of small Copperhead-M or several larger Copperhead-500M, allowing the Dive-XL fleet to control ocean areas with unprecedented levels of autonomous maritime power.

Copperhead provides comprehensive, intelligent maritime capabilities that enable operators to quickly respond to threats in the underwater combat space, at a fraction of the cost of legacy options. The system is designed to quickly respond to commercial missions such as search and rescue operations, critical infrastructure inspection, and environmental monitoring.

The Copperhead-M is designed with mass production in mind, making it more affordable and effective for attacking unmanned underwater and surface enemy vessels. The system uses Anduril's Lattice software platform, which allows threat detection technologies to be updated with software updates.
