China is ready to show off a large unmanned surface ship at a military parade

On the eve of a large-scale military parade in Beijing, photos have emerged of a large unmanned surface ship (BNK) being transported around the city on a conveyor. This vessel is expected to be one of the most impressive novelties of the show and may turn out to be one of the largest unmanned ships ever publicly demonstrated by China.

The size of the vessel indicates that it belongs to the class of medium—sized or large unmanned platforms designed not just for reconnaissance or strike operations, but for performing a wide range of tasks, from long-term patrols to monitoring vast maritime areas. Unlike the small drone boats that China already uses for tactical purposes, this ship is capable of operating autonomously for a long time and at considerable distances from the base.

The emergence of such technology underscores China's strategic desire to strengthen its control over disputed territories, especially in the South China Sea. Beijing has territorial disputes with the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and other countries there. Unmanned patrol ships can strengthen their presence in these waters without risking the crew, reduce operating costs, and can be used for both monitoring and demonstration of force.

In addition, such vessels can be equipped with sensors, electronic intelligence systems, communications equipment, and even weapons, making them versatile platforms in modern naval strategy.

The demonstration of a large BNC at the parade is not just a technology demonstration, but a signal of China's readiness to move to a new level of autonomous and networked maritime defense.

Japan will deploy a fleet of Turkish and American drones to protect strategic islands by 2026

By 2026, Japan plans to significantly strengthen the defense of its remote and strategically important islands through the massive integration of Turkish-made and American-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This became known from reports from Japanese government sources published on August 12, 2025.

As part of the new defense strategy, the Japanese government is preparing to allocate more than 1 trillion yen (about 6.3 billion US dollars) in the next fiscal year for the purchase of drones for the Self-Defense Forces. These funds will be used to equip the Land, Sea and Air Forces with modern drones capable of solving both reconnaissance and strike missions.

The main focus will be on the protection of island territories, especially in the southwestern region of the archipelago, including disputed areas. Drones will provide round-the-clock surveillance, rapid detection of threats and, if necessary, rapid response to violations of air and sea space.

The fleet will include both American UAVs, known for their reliability and integration with NATO systems, as well as Turkish attack drones such as Bayraktar TB2 and newer models that have already proven themselves in various conflicts around the world. This combination gives Japan flexibility and a variety of tactical options.

The integration of foreign drones is part of a broader modernization program aimed at strengthening offensive capabilities, which marks a shift from a traditionally defensive doctrine to a more active defense.

The US MQ-9 drone completed a mission deep in Mexico

The MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), owned by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), recently completed an operational mission deep in Mexico. This incident became the subject of discussion in the context of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crime.

The MQ-9 Guardian, a modification of the Reaper designed for maritime patrol and surveillance, was deployed as part of an operation to identify and track the activities of Mexican drug cartels. The flight took place in one of the regions traditionally used by criminal gangs to transport drugs, including the route through the southern states of Mexico to the border with the United States.

It is reported that the mission was conducted in close coordination with the Mexican authorities. The use of a drone on their territory became possible under a special agreement on joint control of cross-border criminal activity. Such operations provide real-time intelligence, including high-definition video surveillance and radar monitoring.

This case coincided with the intensification of the Donald Trump administration's campaign against drug cartels, which included increased border controls, pressure on the Mexican government and the expansion of the powers of law enforcement agencies. The use of advanced technologies such as the MQ-9 has become a key element of this strategy.

However, such actions cause periodic discussions about the sovereignty and rules for the use of drones in the airspace of other States, even if there is a bilateral agreement.

British Apaches will receive drone cover: the army is creating an autonomous "assistant" for aerial combat

The British Army is preparing a major upgrade for its Apache AH-64E attack helicopters — and this is not about new weapons, but about a real "twin in the sky." As part of the new initiative, a ground—based autonomous collaborative platform (LACP) is being developed - in fact, a drone that will fly with the Apaches and perform the most dangerous tasks instead of them.

This drone is not just a radio—controlled toy. It will operate in a highly autonomous mode, meaning it will not require constant operator intervention. He can be "sent forward" with one command: "Go, look, find targets, cover for me" — and then he will decide for himself how to maneuver, where to hide and when to transfer the data to the pilot. As they say in the army: this is a "command-controlled, not controlled" device — like a war dog, not like a toy car on a remote control.

What can he do? Almost everything you need on the battlefield:

— Reconnaissance — it will fly into an area where it is too dangerous for a helicopter;

— Target designation — highlights the target for missiles;

— Strike — if equipped with a weapon;

— Suppress air defenses — distract or disable enemy radars;

— And work with Launched Effects systems — in other words, launch even smaller drones, like matryoshka dolls.

The idea is simple: the Apache pilot remains relatively safe, while his "unmanned partner" goes ahead, takes risks and transmits information in real time. This not only increases the chances of survival, but also makes the strikes more accurate and faster.

LACP is still under development, but one thing is clear: the future belongs to the human + drone teams. And British helicopter pilots are already preparing to work in such a duo.

British reconnaissance flights over Gaza: 600 flights, secrets and questions for Israel

The UK has been conducting almost daily reconnaissance flights over the Gaza Strip for a long time — and it does this not on its own, but through an American contractor, which adds an additional layer of secrecy to the situation. The main instrument in this operation is the RAF Shadow aircraft based at the British Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus. According to air traffic tracking experts, these aircraft have already made more than 600 flights over the Palestinian territory since the beginning of the active phase of the conflict.

But the main question is not how much, but why and to whom the data is transmitted. Although it is officially stated that intelligence is needed to monitor the humanitarian situation and track the movements of militants, there is growing concern about how actively this information is being transmitted to the Israeli military. Given the scale of the bombing and the high accuracy of the strikes, experts and human rights activists are wondering whether British intelligence is being used indirectly to support operations leading to numerous civilian casualties.

London has not yet disclosed details of the cooperation, citing "operational security." But the pressure is growing, both within the country and from international organizations. As the RAF Shadow circles the sky, an increasingly acute moral and political question looms over Britain: where is the line between surveillance and complicity?

Mossad is no longer just for men: for the first time, Israeli intelligence is openly looking for women to serve

Imagine this: an elite spy agency, known for its top secrecy, publishes advertisements on social networks, websites, and even universities. This is not a new blockbuster scenario — it's a reality. For the first time in its history, Mossad, the legendary Israeli foreign intelligence service, is launching a public campaign to recruit women into the national service. And this is a huge breakthrough for an organization that has preferred to remain in the shadows for decades.

Previously, the Mossad only knew about the national service program by hearsay. It existed for more than 20 years, but it worked quietly: several talented girls were selected every year, not knowing exactly where they were going. It was like in a spy movie — a call, a secret meeting, logic tests, stress tolerance, and, of course, a polygraph. No ads, no open vacancies.

But now everything is changing. The Mossad is officially opening its doors — and it's doing it in a big way. The goal is to attract more young women from different backgrounds so that they can take on practical roles in a variety of fields, from cyber intelligence and data analysis to field operations and technology projects.

Why now? The answer is simple: the world has changed, and so has intelligence. Modern challenges — cyber attacks, disinformation, and complex international networks — require not only strength, but also flexibility, creativity, and a different perspective on the problem. And women, as practice shows, are often better at analyzing, communicating, and working under stressful conditions. "We realized that talent is not a matter of gender, but a matter of potential," the agency said, without naming specific names.

What started as a small pilot project with a couple dozen participants per year has now turned into a large-scale program involving hundreds of girls. They undergo intensive training, work in multidisciplinary teams, and participate in real—world operations - albeit not always with guns in their hands. Someone is hacking into servers, someone is analyzing satellite images, someone is conducting surveillance in Europe under cover.

It is also interesting that the Mossad is now actively looking for candidates in universities, technology parks and startup centers. They are looking not only for those who want to be "Agent 007", but also for programmers, mathematicians, psychologists, and translators. The main thing is intelligence, discipline and dedication to the country.

This step is not just a personnel initiative. It is a symbol of change in one of the most closed organizations in the world. The Mossad recognizes that in order to stay one step ahead of its enemies, it is necessary to use the full potential of society. Even if this potential is in a woman who never thought that she would be scouted.

Of course, serving in the Mossad is not a 9-to-5 job. These are years of secrecy, stress, moral dilemmas, and risk. But for many girls, this is a chance to make a real contribution to the security of the country, undergo unique training and become a part of something bigger.

Britain launched balloons into the stratosphere: new "heavenly eyes" for surveillance without planes

The British Ministry of Defense has quietly but effectively taken intelligence to a new level — with the help of high-altitude balloons, which now hover in the stratosphere like spies on a leash. These huge unmanned balloons have been successfully tested as part of the secret AETHER project, and now they look like a real alternative to expensive satellites and spy planes.

What are the cool things about these "balloon buns"? Firstly, they fly very high — from 18 to 24 kilometers. For comparison, ordinary passenger liners fly at an altitude of about 10-12 km. That is, these balloons are above the clouds, outside the range of most air defenses and almost like in orbit, but without a rocket launch and for a penny.

Secondly, they can stay in the air for longer than a week, traveling more than 3,000 kilometers without landing. There are cameras, radars, sensors and communication systems on board. Their task is to constantly monitor the territory: monitor the movement of troops, control borders, monitor sea routes, or even assist in humanitarian missions.

And most importantly, the AETHER project relies on cheap and durable platforms. Balloons are many times cheaper than satellites or reconnaissance aircraft, and they can be quickly launched and reconfigured for a specific task.

This is especially important against the background of growing threats in Europe and the Middle East. Balloons can be part of the early warning system, complementing the satellite constellation and drones. And yes, it sounds like something from the 19th century, but in the 21st century they are equipped with the latest technology.

So while everyone is looking to the sky in search of drones, the British have put up quiet, smart and persistent balloons that see everything and don't bother anyone.

Cockroaches with backpacks: how live insects became spies of the future

Imagine a cockroach crawling across the floor in a secret bunker, and you think, "That's disgusting." But in fact, this is a spy of the future. This is how SWARM Biotactics sees the world, which has turned live cockroaches into real cyborg scouts — small, inconspicuous and very smart.

Each insect received a miniature "backpack" — a tiny electronic system that controls movement, collects data and transmits it in real time. These "backpacks" include sensors, communications, and even artificial intelligence elements. Cockroaches no longer just run from the light — they are now controlled remotely, and they perform tasks in places where neither a drone, nor a robot, nor a human can get through.

Why cockroaches? Because they are hardy, agile and inconspicuous. They can fit through cracks, survive a collapse, move silently, and work in environments where machinery will simply break down. And with a "smart" backpack on their back, they turn into living intelligence nodes.

According to Stefan Wilhelm, CEO of SWARM, we are entering an era where the key advantage is access to places where no one could get before: ruins of buildings, underground tunnels, hostile territories. And ordinary robots are often powerless there. But a swarm of such bio—cyborgs - launched and forgotten — can spend hours collecting video, sound, temperature, chemical signals, everything — and unnoticed.

The technology is scalable, cheap, and, importantly, extremely low—visibility - no noise, thermal traces, or radio signals that are easy to intercept. This is not just a novelty — it is a new paradigm of espionage and intelligence.

SWARM positions its systems not only for the army, but also for rescue operations, such as searching for survivors under the rubble after an earthquake. But it's obvious: if a cockroach with a backpack can get into a secret facility and record everything, it's no longer fantastic. This is the real thing.

And yes, there may soon be more than just a cockroach in your house. An agent with a mission.

Turkey has released a "smart" camera for drones — and praises it above all the heavens

Aselflir-600

The Turkish company Aselsan has announced a new "eye—catching" drone system, the Aselflir-600, and promises that it is the best in the world. It's about a new electro-optical platform for intelligence, surveillance, and precision weapon guidance. According to the developers, the novelty is not just improved — it surpasses both its predecessors and foreign counterparts, including Western ones.

The system was created in close conjunction with Baykar, the manufacturer of the famous Bayraktar drones. And we have already managed to test the Aselflir-600 on the Akıncı heavy high—altitude attack UAV, one of the most advanced Turkish drones. The tests were successful, and now the Aselflir-600 is ready for mass production.

What can this "camera" do? In addition to accurate day and night shooting, it can accurately track targets, operate at high altitudes and in difficult weather conditions, and aim weapons with high accuracy. Simply put, it's the brain and eyes of a drone in one package.

For Turkey, this is another step towards full technological independence in the defense industry. And if the Aselflir-600 is really as cool as it is touted, then soon we may see it not only on Turkish, but also on foreign drones, because Turkey is actively exporting its weapons.

Denmark has bought powerful American drones to patrol the Arctic

MQ-9B SkyGuardian

Denmark is taking a serious step in strengthening control over its northern borders — the country is purchasing four heavy MQ-9B SkyGuardian drones from the American company General Atomics. These are not just toys: SkyGuardian is one of the most advanced attack and reconnaissance drones in the world, capable of flying for more than 40 hours without refueling and covering vast distances.

Why does Denmark need such machines? The answer is simple — the Arctic. As the ice melts and shipping in the Arctic Ocean increases, the strategic importance of the region increases dramatically. Both Russia and China are increasingly looking there, which means that Denmark, as a country with territory in Greenland and the Faroe Islands, should clearly see what is happening off its coast.

With these drones, Copenhagen will be able to:

- patrol the sea lanes around the clock,

- Track military and civilian vessels,

- monitor the environmental situation,

- promptly respond to emergencies — from rescue missions to interception of violators.

The deal was concluded through the NATO Procurement Agency (NSPA), which simplifies logistics and ensures compatibility with allied systems. SkyGuardian is already used by the United Kingdom, Belgium and other NATO countries, so Denmark is now a member of this "club".

In fact, this is not just the purchase of drones — it is a signal: Denmark assumes greater responsibility for security in the Arctic and is ready to monitor order on its northern borders — from a height and without a pilot.

China is preparing a surprise: "smart" drones for fighter jets will be shown at the parade

China is clearly preparing a high—profile stunt for its next major military parade - and it's not about new tanks or missiles. This time, attention is focused on new drones, which can be a real breakthrough in aviation. According to satellite intelligence and analysts, mock—ups or even real samples of "loyal wingman" type drones are involved in the preparation for the march - the very ones that should fly in conjunction with manned fighters and make them many times more efficient.

What is a "loyal follower"?

Imagine a fifth-generation fighter, for example, the famous J—20 - fast, unobtrusive, powerful. Now imagine that one, two, or even three drones are flying behind him, which he fully controls. These drones can:

- Fly ahead and  scout the area, risking yourself instead of the pilot.

- Carry additional missiles and expand the fighter's ammunition.

- Create interference, distract enemy air defenses, or even attack targets autonomously — at the command of the pilot.

Drones like "smart wings" or digital shadows. They are also called Loyal Wingman — "loyal wingman". This concept is being actively developed by the USA, Australia and other countries. And now China is entering the home stretch.

Commercial satellite images taken near the training ground where the parade rehearsals are taking place show several unidentified medium-sized UAVs. They are stored under canopies, but their outlines are recognizable: an elongated fuselage, a low—lying wing, hidden air intakes - all this indicates low visibility and high aerodynamics. Some experts compare them to the Australian MQ-28 Ghost Bat, but with the characteristic features of the Chinese design.

What is important is that there are no conventional launch systems next to them, like those of tactical drones. This means that they are most likely not just scouts, but full-fledged combat units designed to work as part of an air group.

Why would China do that?

The answer is simple: to seize the initiative in the air war of the future. Modern fighter jets are becoming too expensive and complex. But slave drones are cheaper, consumable, but at the same time very dangerous in mass. One pilot can control several of these machines, turning one aircraft into an entire combat network.

If China really shows these drones at the parade, it will be a serious signal to the world:

"We are not only copying, we are creating our own advanced systems. And we are ready for war in a new reality, where artificial intelligence and autonomy play a crucial role."

Chinese military parades are not just a show of force. This is a strategic show designed for an internal audience and external observers. Showing new weapons at such events is a way of saying:

"Look, we have this."

"And we can scale it."

"Don't underestimate us."

If the "loyal slaves" appear in the ranks — even in the form of mockups — it will mean that the program is in the final stage of testing. Or perhaps she has already passed the first flight tests with the J-20 or other fighters.

China is no longer just a "player" in the military technology race — it is becoming a leader in some areas. And if everyone used to look at the F-35 and Skyborg, now they will have to study closely what Chengdu and its partners are doing.

The future of air warfare is in human + drone bundles.

And, apparently, China is already there.

China has revealed an "iron man" for drones — an exoskeleton for soldiers of the future

The Chinese company Kestrel Defense has announced a cool thing — a new exoskeleton for soldiers who control drones and other advanced systems. The photo from social networks shows a fighter in an almost fantastic costume standing in position, ready to launch and control small drones.

This exoskeleton is not about super strength, but about endurance. It is designed specifically for those who spend hours sitting or kneeling, controlling UAVs, correcting artillery fire or collecting intelligence. Such tasks require stability and concentration, and an ordinary person quickly gets tired in an uncomfortable position. And here the joints in the legs and arms help: the suit takes on part of the load, holds the pose, not allowing the muscles to contract.

Imagine: an operator can sit quietly on a rock or stand in one place for half an hour without trembling or getting tired. This is critical when the success of a mission depends on accuracy. This is especially true for scouts and gunners who work in the field for several days.

It's not an Iron Man with jetpacks yet, but it's a very serious step. China is clearly betting on "smart" soldiers in "smart" suits — and soon such exoskeletons may become the norm on the battlefield.

The American Boeing RC-135V Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft is again "rummaging" near Kaliningrad — its call sign is JAKE17

A well—known guest has been spotted again in the skies over the Baltic Sea and near the borders of the Kaliningrad Region - an American Boeing RC-135V Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft with the call sign JAKE17. This aircraft has been familiar with Russian radars for a long time and regularly "walks" along the borders, collecting data.

The aircraft is based at the NATO Mildenhall Airbase in the UK, from where most of its missions start. And although he officially flies in the airspace of NATO countries, his route often passes so close to the Russian borders that it causes increased attention.

What kind of aircraft is the RC-135V Rivet Joint?

This is a flying reconnaissance station of the latest generation. Designed for electronic listening and signal collection. Simply put, a spy in the sky. Powerful antennas and equipment capable of:

- intercept radio communications,

- scan enemy radars,

- determine the types of emitted signals,

- track the movement of troops and equipment by radioactivity.

Kaliningrad region is an enclave of Russia in the middle of Europe, and at the same time a key strategic hub. Powerful air defense forces, aviation, the Baltic Fleet, and even Iskander-M missile systems are stationed there. It is not surprising that American intelligence is so fond of "looking in" here.

Previously, JAKE17 was repeatedly spotted in these latitudes, especially during tense periods when NATO is strengthening control over Russian activities. Such flights are part of the regular practice of the United States and its allies to collect information.

The RC-135V with the call sign JAKE17 is not just an aircraft, but one of the key players in modern aerial reconnaissance. His appearance in Kaliningrad is a signal that the West is closely monitoring the situation in the region and is ready to respond to any changes.

The North Korean submarine "Hero Kim Kun Ok" with ballistic missiles has not yet been commissioned

North Korea's first diesel-electric submarine with ballistic missiles (SSB), Ship No. 841, named the Hero Kim Kun Ok, is not yet ready for operation. She was launched relatively recently, in September 2023, but satellite images of recent weeks show that her technical conversion and preparation for service are still ongoing.

The submarine was originally built as a Type 003 diesel-electric attack submarine, but in the process of retrofitting it received ballistic missiles, which significantly increases its strategic importance. Despite Pyongyang's ambitious plans, the ship has not yet set sail for a long time and has not conducted full-fledged sea trials, which indicates continuing technical and organizational difficulties.

If the modernization and retrofitting of the submarine are successful, the Hero Kim Kun Ok will become the first combat-ready carrier of submarine-launched ballistic missiles in North Korea. This will seriously expand the country's strategic deterrence capabilities and complicate the tasks for enemy anti-submarine defense systems.

Experts estimate that North Korea's first fully operational ballistic missile submarine may join the fleet within the next 6-12 months if all technical and organizational issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Technical and operational challenges

- The need to refine launchers and ballistic missile launch systems in conditions of limited resources.

- Long-term testing and fine-tuning of the control system and communication systems of the submarine.

- Crew training and working out interaction with coastal structures.

The appearance of a combat-ready ballistic missile submarine in North Korea will pose a new challenge to regional security, especially for South Korea, Japan and the United States. This could lead to increased anti-submarine measures and requirements for missile defense modernization in the region.

A mistake by a special forces officer led to a leak of data from British intelligence officers and 19,000 Afghans

In February 2022, an employee of the British special forces headquarters in London made a serious mistake: he accidentally sent a file with personal data to the wrong people. Instead of transmitting information only inside the government group, he sent it outside the system. As a result, the personal data of more than 100 Britons, including intelligence and special forces personnel, were publicly available.

But that's not all. The same file contained the data of almost 19,000 Afghans who collaborated with the British military during the 20-year British presence in Afghanistan. These people applied for evacuation to the UK after the Taliban seized power in the country in 2021. The employee thought that he was sending information about only 150 people, but in fact the leak was much larger.

This mistake has put the lives and safety of thousands of people at risk. After all, the Taliban actively persecutes those who worked for Western countries, especially the United Kingdom and the United States. After returning to power, they have repeatedly stated their intentions to punish the "accomplices" of Western states.

Interestingly, this leak became known only in August 2023, when information suddenly appeared in one of the Facebook groups. Since then, the authorities have gradually revealed the scale of what happened, but many questions remain unanswered, such as who exactly received this data and what was done about it.

In general, one accidental sending of a document became one of the most serious data leaks in the history of the UK, comparable in threat to espionage scandals or cyber attacks.

MI6 distances new leader from Nazi grandfather

MI6 is trying to separate the new head of the service, Blaze Metreveli, from the scandalous family history. This week it became known that her grandfather Konstantin Dobrovolsky was a Nazi spy, known by the nickname "The Butcher," who defected from the Red Army and became a Nazi informant in Chernigov, Ukraine.

Despite this, the British Foreign Office, which represents MI6, said that Ms. Metreveli "did not know or meet with her paternal grandfather." Thus, the secret service is trying to distance her from this historical connection and preserve the reputation of the new head of the Secret Intelligence Service.

The UK has launched a large-scale operation to find an alleged Russian double agent in MI6

British intelligence has launched one of the most sensitive and lengthy operations in its history, Operation Bucket, aimed at finding an alleged Russian double agent in the MI6 foreign intelligence service. The operation lasted for about 20 years and involved MI5 employees around the world, which indicates the seriousness of concerns about the possible penetration of a "mole" at a high level.

Suspicions about a high-ranking MI6 officer arose amid fears that the situation could repeat one of the most notorious scandals of the Cold War — the case of Kim Philby, who worked for Soviet intelligence for many years. A special group of 35 MI5 officers was involved in the investigation, which is engaged in surveillance, information gathering and coordination of actions around the world.

The history of British intelligence knows many examples of double agents, among which Viktor Bogomolets stands out, a Soviet spy who for 30 years passed secrets of MI6 to Moscow. His activities remained undisclosed for a long time, and the scale of the betrayal turned out to be significant. Another famous example is the Cambridge Five, including Kim Philby, who have become a symbol of treason in the British intelligence services.

Despite many years of efforts, Operation Bucket has not yet yielded definitive results. However, the scale and duration of the investigation indicate that British intelligence takes the threat of double agent infiltration very seriously and is ready to use significant resources to neutralize it.

Detecting and eliminating the "mole" in MI6 is key to maintaining trust between allies and ensuring the security of national interests. In the context of modern geopolitical challenges and increased intelligence activity on the part of Russia, such investigations are becoming priorities for the British intelligence services.

Chinese military robotics laboratory has created a microdron the size of a mosquito for covert operations

The Chinese military Robotics laboratory at the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in Hunan Province has developed a unique microdron the size of a mosquito designed for covert intelligence and combat operations. This innovative development demonstrates China's significant progress in the field of miniature bionic robots.

The state broadcaster CCTV has broadcast video footage showing the work of miniature drones created at the defense university. These microdrones are capable of invisibly entering protected areas, collecting intelligence information and performing tasks that were previously impossible for traditional systems.

Microdrons are highly maneuverable and unobtrusive due to their tiny size and bionic design that mimics insect movements. This technology opens up new possibilities for covert operations, including surveillance, reconnaissance, and potential use in combat.
