Stormwatch Defense has launched mass production of a jet interceptor — now it's not a prototype, but a reality

Stormwatch jet interceptor at the airbase

Three years of testing — and the release of the series

The American company Stormwatch Defense has announced the start of mass production of its jet turbine interceptor. This is an important stage: after almost three years of development and many flight tests, the drone has ceased to be an experiment and has become a product ready for delivery. Now we are not talking about single copies, but about a large—scale release - for the army, special forces and, possibly, allies.

What started as an adventurous idea is turning into a combat reality.

Glider as a construction kit: what can be hung on this drone

The company calls its device a "universal glider" — and it's not just beautifully said. The design allows the integration of almost any weapon and payload. If you want a machine gun, hang it up. If you need rockets, fasten them. More range is required — hang up the tanks. All this is on the same glider.

This approach dramatically reduces the cost and time needed to adapt to a specific task. You do not need to order a separate attack drone and a separate scout — you can reconfigure the same device in hours.

Picatinny rail in the sky — the weapon connects like on a stormtrooper

The special feature is the integrated Picatinny rails directly on the fuselage and wings. These are the same guides that are used on tactical weapons. Only here they are not for scopes, but for full-fledged weapons. At the same time, the straps provide not only mounting, but also power supply, as well as data transmission — the drone "understands" what is hanging on it and can control the guidance system.

Imagine: a drone with a machine gun that chooses its own firing mode, or with missiles that receive real-time targeting. It's not just a platform anymore — it's an automated combat system.

Your engine and your production

Stormwatch doesn't stop at the glider. The company has confirmed that it has started manufacturing tooling for its own 180N jet engine, manufactured in the USA. This is an important step towards complete independence from suppliers. The turbine engine gives the drone high speed, good altitude and resistance to interference, unlike electric multicopters.

Now they have both an airplane and a power plant. All that remains is to adjust the flow and start deliveries.

The US Army has adopted the new reconnaissance drone Soldier Borne Sensor

A soldier launches a Soldier Borne Sensor drone

The first training sessions with the drone were positively evaluated

The US Army has officially adopted the latest version of the Soldier Borne Sensor (SBS) reconnaissance drone. This month, the military personnel underwent training with the system for the first time, and their feedback was extremely positive. The soldiers noted the ease of operation, high video quality and a significant increase in situational awareness in difficult terrain.

The adoption of the SBS was an important step in the implementation of the program to improve the combat effectiveness of the infantryman of the future.

Soldier Borne Sensor — "eyes" for a soldier in battle

Developed as part of the large-scale Soldier of the Future Program, the Soldier Borne Sensor is a compact tactical drone that can be easily carried in a backpack and launched manually. It is designed to quickly obtain intelligence information in real time, for example, when storming buildings, patrolling urban areas, or scouting in remote areas.

The drone is equipped with day and night vision cameras, transmits video to a tablet or augmented reality glasses of a soldier and is able to maneuver in confined spaces.

How a drone improves battlefield safety

The key objective of SBS is to minimize the risk to personnel. Instead of putting a soldier in the line of fire for reconnaissance, the unit can launch a drone to detect ambushes, enemy positions, or explosive devices. This makes it possible to make decisions based on reliable information without putting the lives of military personnel in immediate danger.

According to army officials, the system provides "an additional level of protection," especially in operations in an urban environment where traditional intelligence is difficult.

Integration into the Soldier of the Future program

Soldier Borne Sensor is part of a comprehensive approach to infantryman modernization. It integrates with other elements of the tactical system: communications, navigation, body armor and weapons. In the future, the drone may receive commands from artificial intelligence or work in autonomous groups ("swarms"), expanding the squad's control area.

Serial deliveries of the SBS will begin in the coming months, with full-scale deployment expected during 2026.

The US Army launches a drone with a Claymore mine — now drones are blowing up enemies from above

The US Army is testing a drone that does not just spy or drop grenades, but carries a whole Claymore mine. Yes, yes, the one with a directional effect, which releases a cloud of balls when it explodes, destroying everything in its path. Only now she's flying through the air instead of lying in the bushes.

Why is this necessary? Everything is simple. Modern battlefields are teeming with small kamikaze drones and infantry hiding in shelters. Conventional defense methods don't always work, especially against threats like quadrocopters that fall from the sky like firebirds. But a drone with a Claymore can become a trap on its own.

Imagine: a drone hovers over an intersection, drops a mine on the ground, and flies away. A minute later, an enemy group enters this place — and bang! — the explosion is directed forward, like from a machine gun. Or another scenario: a drone with a mine flies up to a cluster of enemy drones and explodes itself — turning into an aerial "shrapnel" that knocks down several targets at once.

This approach is a hybrid of exploration, mining, and attack. The drone becomes a mobile mine with remote control. He can work at night, in the jungle, in the city, wherever previously he would have had to risk soldiers.

So far, these are tests, but the direction is clear: the future of war is when even mines fly. And if the Claymore used to be parked by the road, now it can fly right to your roof.

Turkish Laser Eye: Nero Industries unveils revolutionary drone GLD-466

At the IDEF 2025 international defense exhibition in Istanbul, the Turkish company Nero Industries challenged the usual notions of tactical drones by presenting its latest development, the GLD—466 laser-guided drone. This system is positioned as something that can radically change the rules of the game in modern warfare, where drones are becoming an increasingly dominant force.

The GLD-466 is not just another FPV drone or a barrage munition. It is designed for high-speed and, most importantly, high-precision operations, and is equipped with advanced laser guidance technologies. Its key advantage is a unique combination of three factors: affordable cost, reusable capability, and high target acquisition accuracy. In an era when the battlefields are increasingly filled with disposable drones, the idea of a reusable but effective combat vehicle looks especially attractive.

Nero Industries claims that the GLD-466 directly bridges the "gap" between expensive man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) and conventional, often less accurate, guided munitions. This makes it a versatile tool, suitable both for defeating lightly armored vehicles and for delivering pinpoint strikes against fortified positions or enemy manpower.

The presentation of the GLD-466 at IDEF 2025 was a clear indication of the growing role of not only autonomous platforms, but also innovative guidance systems in future conflicts. The Turkish defense industry is once again demonstrating its ability to offer cost-effective and tactically flexible solutions for modern armies.

BAE Systems tested point bombs from the Malloy T-150 drone

TRV-150

BAE Systems has recently taken a big step forward in the world of military drones: they have successfully tested precision-guided munitions launched from a multi-rotor drone. We are talking about a modified version of the Malloy T-150 quadcopter, which was renamed the TRV-150. This device has long attracted attention for its lifting capacity and stability in the air, but now it has also become shock-resistant.

What is impressive is that the drone was able to accurately drop small guided munitions on the target, demonstrating high accuracy and reliability. Such ammunition is designed specifically to minimize collateral damage — that is, to hit exactly the target and not cause havoc around. This is especially important in urban combat or when working near civilian facilities.

The TRV-150 is not just a toy. This is a heavy drone with the ability to carry a payload, and now it can also perform combat missions. Its advantage is vertical take—off and landing, like a helicopter, but with easier controls and less visibility. And the modular design allows you to quickly change the payload: from cameras to weapons.

BAE Systems is positioning this as part of a new concept of "hybrid mobility" — where a drone can both scout and strike while remaining flexible and responsive to changes on the battlefield. This is especially true for units that need to respond quickly to threats without using heavy machinery.

The tests were successful, and now the company is looking towards partnerships with armies and law enforcement agencies. The ability to use precision weapons from a relatively cheap and maneuverable drone can change the tactics of warfare at the tactical level.

In general, the world of drones is getting more serious — and the TRV-150 from BAE Systems clearly claims to be one of the main players.
