China Southern Industrial Group Has Developed A Revolutionary Gauss Cannon

 A Chinese southern industrial group stunned the public by showing footage of the firing of a hand-held Gauss cannon, the world's first capacitor-free electromagnetic mass accelerator powered directly by a lithium battery. In addition, unlike American developments, the rate of fire of this prototype is as much as 3,000 rounds per minute. In the future, the development may dramatically affect future combat operations — the weapon conducts silent flameless firing, and the lethality of projectiles can be adjusted. After upgrading, new weapons will replenish the arsenals of the military and police.

The Gauss cannon is a type of electromagnetic mass accelerator that launches ferromagnetic projectiles. To create a short but powerful pulse, high-capacity capacitors are usually used in Gauss cannon circuits. The new Chinese development works a little differently: instead of a capacitor, a lithium-ion battery provides the pulse. And, according to the China Southern Industrial Group State Corporation, the prototype is capable of firing at a rate of 3,000 rounds per minute, at the level of multi-barrel machine guns.

The weapon is equipped with twenty consecutive 20 mm long copper coils in a short arrangement with a handle in front of the magazine (bullpup), which reduces the overall length of the weapon without loss of accuracy and range.

When a steel projectile is accelerated through these coils using carefully synchronized magnetic pulses, semiconductor switches control the energy supply with nanosecond accuracy. Synchronization algorithms then optimize the magnetic acceleration window to minimize energy loss and reverse drag.

Other key features of the gun include special fuses that prevent the battery from overloading during voltage surges of 750 A; finite element modeling, which ensures that the coil is triggered with millisecond accuracy; and heat dissipation technology that limits the temperature rise of the battery.

In addition to the high rate of fire, the advantages of the prototype include noiselessness, no muzzle flash and adjustable lethality. The projectile velocity is average, compared to modern firearms: about 86 m/s. However, it is sufficient to use the cannon as a non-lethal weapon.

"Continuous high—speed fire deters approaching threats and suppresses enemy resistance, which is ideal for containing mass riots," said a scientific group led by Xiang Hongjun from the Military Engineering University.

Two years ago, China already announced the testing of the world's most powerful Gauss cannon, capable of launching projectiles with high speed and accuracy. During public tests, an electromagnetic cannon accelerated a 124 kg projectile to a speed of 700 km/h in less than 0.05 seconds.

This incident not only demonstrates China's technological achievements in the field of unmanned aircraft, but also highlights Beijing's desire to strengthen its influence in the region.

The CH-5 or GJ-2 drone (its combat version) is one of the most modern examples of Chinese development in the field of attack and reconnaissance UAVs. It is an analog of the American MQ-9 Reaper, having a significant flight range, a long stay in the air and the ability to perform both reconnaissance and strike missions. The GJ-2 is capable of carrying various types of weapons, including guided missiles and bombs, which makes it a versatile tool for conducting various operations.

Main features of GJ-2:

- The maximum flight duration is up to 60 hours.

- The range is more than 10,000 km.

- The flight altitude is up to 9 km.

- The ability to carry up to 1 ton of ammunition.

These parameters allow the UAV to operate effectively both within the framework of local conflicts and for long-range reconnaissance.

The recording of the GJ-2 flight near Japanese territories indicates several important aspects:

1. Increased monitoring of the region: The presence of such a high-tech device indicates China's intention to step up intelligence gathering on strategically important sites, shipping routes and military infrastructure of neighboring countries.

2. Show of force: The deployment of advanced aerial reconnaissance and strike systems near the borders of rivals can be considered a form of "soft" military diplomacy aimed at showing force without direct military confrontation.

3. Testing the reaction of allies: Japan is an important partner of the United States in the region, and the appearance of the GJ-2 may be part of China's attempt to test the willingness of Tokyo and Washington to coordinate their actions in the event of an escalation of tension.

4. Technological superiority: The use of sophisticated systems such as the GJ-2 confirms China's desire to take a leading position in the field of defense technology and ensure a competitive advantage over other players in the region.

The Japanese government has already expressed concern about this incident, stating the need to strengthen the air defense system and airspace surveillance. In turn, the United States may consider this event as an additional incentive to strengthen its military bases in the region and expand cooperation with allied countries such as Australia, South Korea and India.

However, it is important to note that any escalation of tensions could have serious consequences for the economic and political climate in the Indo-Pacific region, which remains a central hub of global trade and interaction.

The appearance of the Chinese GJ-2 UAV off the coast of Japan was another symbolic step in the game of forces, where each side is trying to demonstrate its influence and ability to control the situation. For the countries of the region, this incident serves as a reminder of the need to create more reliable mechanisms for security and dialogue. Chinese scientists are developing a machine gun capable of firing at a speed the world has never seen before. This weapon consists of five or more barrels, each of which is capable of firing bullets at a rate of 450,000 rounds per minute. The resulting barrage has an unprecedented density, capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles flying at speeds exceeding Mach 7. For comparison, the maximum rate of fire of the most powerful Phalanx system in service with the US Army is only 4,500 rounds per minute.

With its advanced stealth technology, exceptional performance, and versatile combat capabilities, the J-36 represents a significant step forward in China's military aviation.

The J-36 features a bold tailless configuration with a triangular wing, which differs significantly from traditional fighter designs. This innovative layout eliminates vertical stabilizers, significantly reducing the effective reflection area of the aircraft and increasing its stealth. The J-36's maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 55 tons highlights its ability to carry a significant payload, including advanced weapon systems and additional fuel for long-range missions. The estimated combat radius of about 3,000 kilometers demonstrates its ability to operate effectively in extended-range scenarios, making it a critical asset in regions such as the Indo-Pacific, where operational range is of paramount importance.

The Chengdu J-36 is expected to be equipped with a number of advanced technologies, positioning it as a highly efficient fighter for future combat scenarios. One of its most significant achievements is its propulsion system, which is believed to consist of next-generation WS engines, potentially upgraded versions of the WS-19. These engines are designed to provide increased thrust and fuel efficiency, crucial for both high-speed performance and long-range missions. Additionally, the integration of electro-optical guidance systems (EOTS) will allow the J-36 to accurately hit both air-to-air and air-to-ground targets. These systems will allow the aircraft to simultaneously track multiple targets and operate effectively in various environmental and electronic warfare conditions, making it highly versatile in combat scenarios. China has just launched another next-generation tailless stealth combat aircraft. In less than 24 hours, two previously unknown Chinese advanced combat aircraft have been revealed, and both are already undergoing flight tests. According to unconfirmed reports, the second combat aircraft project belongs to Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC), and the first, larger project belongs to the competing Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC). While Shenyang is responsible for manufacturing Chinese developments of the Flanker family of multirole fighters and the J-35 family of medium stealth fighters, Chengdu is building the J-10 multirole medium fighter and the J-20 heavy stealth fighter.
