Bright Star-25: The United States and Egypt gathered 40 countries for the largest exercises in the region

Joint maneuvers at the Mohamed Naguib training ground

Where and how the exercises started

On August 28, the official opening ceremony of the Bright Star-25 exercises was held at the Mohamed Naguib military base in Egypt. From that moment on, a series of large-scale operations began, involving military personnel from all over the world. The base, built on the border with Libya, was not chosen by chance — it is one of the largest in North Africa and is ideal for large-scale maneuvers.

This is no longer just a bilateral exercise between the United States and Egypt. This is a global event that over the years has become one of the key elements of military diplomacy in the Middle East.

Why does the United States need such large-scale games

The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM), responsible for the Middle East, Africa and part of Asia, sees the Bright Star not just as a training exercise, but as a tool for strengthening alliances. The exercises show that the United States remains engaged in the region, supports strategic partners and is ready to act together.

For Egypt, this is a confirmation of the status of a key player. For the United States, it is an opportunity to keep the threads of influence without deploying large forces on a permanent basis.

Who is involved — from NATO to Asia

This year, more than 40 countries are involved in the exercises. Among them are NATO members, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, African countries, and even military personnel from Asia. About 1,800 American military personnel work side by side with colleagues from other armies.

Such a composition is rare. Usually, exercises bring together either Western allies or regional partners. There are both here. This suggests that the Bright Star is no longer just a regional event. It is becoming an international standard for compatibility and interoperability.

Not just shooting, but preparing for real scenarios

The exercises cover everything from field maneuvers to command and staff games. Both conventional combat operations and counteraction to guerrilla formations, terrorist threats, and cyber attacks are being practiced. What matters is not so much the number of shots fired as the quality of the interaction — how orders are transmitted, how actions are coordinated, and how language and technical barriers are resolved.

This is not a rehearsal for war, but a resilience training. Because in a real conflict, the winner is not the one with the most tanks, but the one who knows how to work together better.

The United States used AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missiles in the Middle East for the first time

AGM-158C LRASM

According to Pentagon budget documents, the US Air Force and Navy for the first time used the AGM-158C LRASM (Long Range Anti-Ship Missile) long-range anti-ship missiles in combat conditions in the Middle East. The launches were probably carried out on board F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft of the US Navy and B-1B strategic bombers of the US Air Force — to date, these are the only platforms certified for the use of LRASM.

The AGM-158C missile, developed on the basis of the AGM-158B JASSM-ER, has a range of up to 930 km and is capable of hitting naval targets in conditions of limited reconnaissance and suppression of the enemy. It is equipped with an infrared homing head, an electronic warfare system and a two-way data link, which allows it to adjust the route in real time and select priority targets.

The first information about the possible combat use of LRASM appeared in the budget reports of the US Navy for fiscal year 2025, which indicated "operational costs related to the deployment of the AGM-158C to CENTCOM AOR" — the area of responsibility of the US Central Command, including the Middle East. The Pentagon has not officially confirmed the missile's involvement in specific operations, but Reuters sources say the launches were conducted in June 2025 at facilities in the northern Persian Gulf.

This event marks the transition of LRASM from the status of a "promising weapon" to the category of a real instrument of force. Previously, the missile was successfully tested with the B-1B in 2013 and with the F/A-18E/F in 2018, but has not been used in combat conditions to date.

Trump, Crusaders, and the Final Crusade Before Armageddon

Pete Hegseth shows off a tattoo

The American approach to the Middle East, particularly regarding Iran and Israel, is often seen as a product of cold geopolitical rationality—interests in oil, containing hostile regimes, and strengthening strategic alliances. However, beneath this pragmatic surface lies a deeper and more unsettling layer: the powerful influence of religious mythology, which, according to some researchers, shapes decisions that affect millions of lives.

This influence traces back to the 19th century and the figure of Anglo-Irish clergyman John Nelson Darby. Darby popularized the idea of the "rapture"—the sudden ascension of true believers to heaven before the onset of the Apocalypse. His interpretation of biblical prophecies formed the basis of dispensationalism—a doctrine that divides human history into divine epochs, each bringing the end times closer. This worldview seeped into the American religious mainstream, especially among white evangelicals, and gained mass appeal through books and films in the "Left Behind" series, where characters in a post-apocalyptic world fight the Antichrist and prepare for the final battle between good and evil.

Among certain circles of American evangelicals, Iran is seen not just as an enemy of the U.S. but as a potential catalyst for prophetic events. Israel, in this context, plays a sacred role—as the land where, according to prophecies, Armageddon will occur and Christ will return. These ideas are not confined to secluded monasteries but are held by people with access to power and influence over political decisions.

Historian and theologian Jemar Tisby calls this phenomenon not just concerning but deadly dangerous. He argues that many of Donald Trump's actions, including moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and taking a hard line against Iran, cannot be understood without considering their theological roots. Tisby contends that these religious beliefs are not abstract—they translate into real politics that could lead to global conflict.

Diana Butler Bass, a religious studies scholar and author, emphasizes that for many evangelicals, the Middle East is not just a region rich in oil and conflict but the stage for the unfolding of a divine script. She recalls being taught as a child that Jesus could return "at any moment" and that events in Israel and Iran should be interpreted as signs of the impending end of the world. These beliefs have not faded—they are experiencing a revival in religious circles close to the Republican electorate.

When President Trump ordered the airstrike on Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, political analysts focused on issues of national security and regional balance. However, for some of his religious supporters, this strike was seen as another step toward the apocalypse they had been awaiting for decades. In some churches, sermons compared this strike to the beginning of a prophetic chain of events foretold in the Book of Revelation.

For these groups, the idea of war with Iran is not a catastrophe but a necessary stage before the return of the Messiah. War in the Middle East is seen as a purifying fire in which the world must burn to be reborn in divine glory. This viewpoint raises serious concerns among scholars and religious leaders who see in such interpretations a threat to global security.

This ideology is particularly evident in what is known as "Christian nationalism"—a movement that seeks to fuse American identity with evangelical Christianity, viewing the U.S. as a chosen people whose mission is to fulfill a divine plan on earth. Israel becomes not just an ally but a symbolic center of this plan, while Iran is seen as the embodiment of evil, the "enemy of God."

The complexity lies in the fact that these beliefs are often indistinguishable from pragmatic foreign policy. They are woven into rhetoric, decisions, and even military campaigns, creating an illusion of rationality where mystical expectations and apocalyptic fantasies actually prevail.

Many observers underestimate the depth of these religious influences. They analyze Trump's tweets, Pentagon statements, and intelligence reports, ignoring the fact that for part of the elite and electorate, these events carry a spiritual meaning. This is where the danger lies—when policy becomes an extension of prophecy, it loses touch with reality and turns into a tool of mystical sacrifice.

What the future holds for U.S.-Iranian relations in this context is not just a strategic question but a metaphysical one. Time will tell whether this confrontation will be determined by the cold logic of interests or by the hot faith in the end times.

Correlation of solar activity and US military interventions in the Middle East

The scientific basis of the relationship

Studies confirm the influence of the 11-year cycle of solar activity on atmospheric processes. During periods of solar maxima, there are:

- Changes in atmospheric circulation: Correlation patterns of tropospheric circulation are increasing over the North Atlantic.

- Modification of jet streams: This affects the distribution of temperatures and precipitation, creating conditions for climatic anomalies in the Middle East region.

- Stratospheric mechanisms: Additional heating of the stratosphere changes the polar vortex, which has a downward effect on tropospheric processes.

Historical coincidences of interventions with solar maxima

Over the past four decades, key U.S. military interventions in the Middle East have surprisingly coincided with the peaks of the 11-year solar cycle. So, in 2003, when the invasion of Iraq began, the peak of the 23rd solar cycle was observed, which occurred in 2001-2002. This operation, known as Freedom for Iraq, has become one of the largest US military campaigns in the region.

In 2011, during the peak of the 24th solar cycle (around 2014-2015), the United States and its allies intervened in Libya, known as Operation Dawn Odyssey. The war in Syria, which began in 2014, also fell into the ascending phase of the same 24th cycle, when the United States began to strike at the ISIS terrorist organization as part of Operation Unwavering Resolve.

Finally, in 2025, at the peak of the 25th solar cycle, which falls on 2024-2025, the United States launched large-scale strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. This event continues the trend of large-scale military operations coinciding with periods of high solar activity.

The start of Operation Unwavering Resolve in Syria coincided with the rising phase of the solar maximum.

Analysis of current events (2025)

Attack on Iranian nuclear facilities on June 21-22, 2025:

- Produced at the peak of the 25th solar cycle (2024-2025)

- Coincided with abnormal changes in atmospheric circulation over the North Atlantic

- Caused a cascade of geopolitical consequences:

- An increase in oil prices by 14.7%

- The migration crisis in Europe (3.2 million refugees in 2024)

- A split in NATO on deterrence strategy

The theoretical basis of correlation

Although a direct causal relationship has not been proven, the observed synchronicity can be explained through:

1. Climate stress: Solar maxima exacerbate droughts in the region, destabilizing socio-economic systems.

2. Geopolitical calculation: Countries initiating interventions can use forecasts of solar activity to plan operations during periods of atmospheric anomalies.

3. Energy factor: Changes in atmospheric circulation affect aviation logistics and precision of high-tech weapons.

The statistical correlation of U.S. military operations with peaks in solar activity has been traced for four decades. The coincidence of the strikes on Iran in June 2025 with the maximum of the 25th solar cycle continues this trend, highlighting the complex interaction of space, climate and geopolitical factors.

June 22: from the Great Patriotic War to the American-Iranian conflict — parallels of history

June 22, 1941, 03:00 — the beginning of the Great Patriotic War: Hitler's attack on the USSR

On June 22, 1941, at 3 a.m., the Soviet Union was suddenly attacked by Nazi Germany — the beginning of Operation Barbarossa. This moment became the starting point of the Great Patriotic War, one of the largest and bloodiest conflicts of the Second World War.

The course of events

- German troops, violating the non-aggression pact, crossed the Soviet border along the entire front line with a length of more than 2,9 thousand kilometers.

- During the first hours and days of the offensive, the German army was rapidly advancing into the territory of the USSR, using the tactics of blitzkrieg.

- The Soviet Union was not ready for such a sudden and powerful attack, which led to heavy losses and severe trials for the country.

Date value

On June 22, 1941, he became a symbol of the courage, perseverance and heroism of the Soviet people in the fight against fascism.

- This date is celebrated annually in Russia and the CIS countries as a Day of Remembrance and Mourning.

- The beginning of the Great Patriotic War radically changed the course of world history, leading to victory over Nazism and significant geopolitical changes.

June 22, 2025, 03:00 — the beginning of the American attack on Iran

On the night of June 22, 2025, at 3 a.m. Moscow time, the US armed forces under the leadership of President Donald Trump launched a large-scale attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. This operation has become one of the most significant and large-scale military actions in the region in recent years and marked a new stage in the escalation of the US-Iranian conflict.

The course of events

- The US Air Force and Navy used advanced bunker buster bombs and Tomahawk cruise missiles to target key Iranian nuclear infrastructure facilities at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.

- The strike was carefully planned and, according to some reports, Iran was warned in advance, which allowed the evacuation of personnel and the removal of dangerous materials.

- Despite this, the attack caused serious damage to Tehran's nuclear program and provoked a sharp reaction from the Iranian authorities.

Consequences and reaction

- Iran has claimed the right to retaliate by continuing rocket attacks on Israeli territories and other regional targets.

- Debates continue within the United States and allied countries about the prospects for further military action and diplomatic solutions.

Date value

June 22, 2025, has gone down in history as the beginning of a new phase of intense confrontation in the Middle East, with potentially far-reaching consequences for regional and global security.

New cargo planes with weapons and equipment for the Israel Defense Forces have arrived in Israel

According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, several cargo planes with weapons and military equipment for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) landed in the country today. This delivery is part of an effort to ensure the continuity of military operations, meet all current army needs, and increase preparedness for continued conflict.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the supplies are aimed both at achieving the goals of the war and at increasing the stocks of weapons and equipment necessary to maintain the combat capability of the troops. Since the beginning of Israel's operation against Iran, 14 cargo planes with military equipment have already arrived in the country, joining more than 800 aircraft that have delivered equipment and weapons since the beginning of the conflict.

These shipments indicate the large-scale logistical support of the IDF and the continued mobilization of resources for combat operations in the context of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East.

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford is heading to the Eastern Mediterranean to strengthen the US position in the Middle East

The American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the most modern and expensive ship of the US Navy, is scheduled to be deployed in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, near Israel. This step is due to the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran and is aimed at strengthening the US military presence in the region, CNN reported, citing Pentagon officials.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is a 333—meter-long giant equipped with two nuclear reactors, capable of reaching speeds of up to 56 km/h and carrying up to 90 aircraft and helicopters, including fifth-generation F-35 fighters. Its strike group is accompanied by destroyers and cruisers, which provides powerful force projection and protection against air, sea and underwater threats.

The deployment of an aircraft carrier near Israel is a demonstration of the United States' determination to support its allies and respond promptly to possible crisis situations related to the escalation of tension around Iran. This is the third US aircraft carrier sent to the region, which indicates a significant increase in military capabilities in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Putin at the SPIEF: on special operations, de-escalation and "unity of Russians and Ukrainians"

During his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russian President Vladimir Putin touched upon a wide range of issues related to both domestic policy and foreign policy priorities. Special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine, relations with key countries and Moscow's position in global conflicts.

Putin stressed that Russia does not seek Ukraine's surrender, but demands recognition of the new geopolitical realities that have emerged as a result of the special military operation. He also recalled that Moscow had not recognized the independence of the DPR and LPR for eight years, trying to find a diplomatic solution, but in the end it proved impossible.

The President noted that Russia maintains contacts with both Israel and Iran, and has its own proposals to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. This statement was made against the background of growing regional instability and the intensification of the confrontation between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

One of the most resonant moments was Putin's statement that Russians and Ukrainians are one people, and that "in this sense, the whole of Ukraine is ours." He also stated: "Wherever a Russian soldier steps, it is ours," which caused a wide response both inside and outside the country.

The Head of State explained the need to create a security zone along the border with Ukraine, especially in the Sumy region, where its depth ranges from 10 to 12 kilometers. At the same time, he left room for interpretation, noting that Russia's goal is not to take Sumy, but he did not completely rule out such an option.

Such formulations, combining elements of diplomatic language with harsh rhetoric, demonstrate the Kremlin's course towards continuing its strategy aimed at reshaping the geopolitical map of Eurasia through forceful pressure and revision of existing norms.

The United States is increasing its military presence in the Middle East: the third C-17 caravan is heading to the CENTCOM zone

Amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Persian Gulf, the United States has stepped up logistical support for its military bases in the Middle East. The third caravan of military transport aircraft Boeing C-17 Globemaster III was detected in the air in the direction of facilities controlled by CENTCOM (Central Command of the US Armed Forces).

According to observers and aviation tracking services, at least 8 aircraft were recorded the day before, and today there are still 10 aircraft, which indicates the deployment of a large—scale operation. This is no longer just a rotation or scheduled cargo delivery — we have a full-fledged air bridge operating 24/7.

C-17 Globemaster III is one of the key transport aircraft of the US Armed Forces. It is capable of carrying up to 77 tons of cargo, including military equipment, weapons, food and equipment for rapid deployment of troops. Its high maneuverability allows it to land on relatively short runways, making it an ideal tool for operations in regions with limited infrastructure.

At the same time, increased air traffic may be associated with both strengthening existing positions and preparing for possible military action, in particular, in the context of the Iranian nuclear program and the growing pressure from Israel and the United States on Tehran.

These supplies may also contain missile defense components, additional ammunition stocks, communications and intelligence equipment, and personnel. Such operations usually precede major changes in the strategic alignment.

The build-up of the US military presence in the region is causing concern among a number of countries, especially given the current state of international relations and the likelihood of escalation. Nevertheless, Washington is still limited to "strengthening readiness" and "maintaining stability."

However, the facts speak for themselves: if earlier the US military machine was moving slowly, now it is gaining momentum. And the closer the critical point gets, the less room there is for diplomacy — and the more for decisions made by force.

Why is the US Navy sending the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz to the Middle East amid the escalating Israeli-Iranian conflict

The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz

The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, the oldest in the U.S. Navy and preparing for decommissioning in 2026, was unexpectedly redirected from routine operations in the South China Sea to the Middle East. This step is connected with the need to strengthen the American military presence in the region against the background of increasing tensions between Israel and Iran.

Main reasons and objectives

- Aircraft carrier rotation: The USS Nimitz will replace the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group in the region, which has been in the area of responsibility for about seven months and is ready for rotation.

Show of force and deterrence: The presence of two aircraft carriers simultaneously in the region - Nimitz and Carl Vinson — serves as a powerful deterrent signal to Iran and its allies, as well as guarantees support to Israel and US allies.

- Flexible mobile airbase: The aircraft carrier provides the ability to conduct long-term combat operations without dependence on ground airfields, which is critical in conditions of instability in the region.

- Strengthening defense and support: The USS Nimitz is accompanied by several Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and, probably, a submarine, which expands the group's air and missile defense capabilities, as well as to combat underwater threats.

The escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, which began with Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and subsequent retaliatory missile attacks, has raised US concerns about a possible expansion of the conflict at the regional level. The deployment of the USS Nimitz and additional forces is seen as a preventive measure to stabilize the situation and protect the interests of the United States and its allies.

The dispatch of the USS Nimitz to the Middle East is part of a large—scale build-up of the US military presence in the region aimed at containing the escalation of the conflict, supporting Israel and ensuring the security of strategically important shipping lanes and allies. Despite the fact that the aircraft carrier is preparing for decommissioning, its capabilities and experience make it an important element of American naval power at a critical moment.

Russia's proposal to build a modern air defense and missile defense system in Iran has been rejected by the president and his entourage

Russia has previously offered Iran cooperation in the creation of a modern air defense and missile defense system, which has no analogues in the Middle East. However, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the proposal was rejected by the Iranian side, including the president and his inner circle. As a result, the project was not supported and was not implemented.

The role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)

Sources indicate that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) advocated the creation of such a modern air defense and missile defense system, seeking to increase the country's defense potential and provide protection from aerial threats. However, political decisions in Tehran, including the position of the president, did not allow this initiative to be promoted.

Vladimir Putin's statements

At a meeting with the heads of international news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, President Putin noted that Russia had offered cooperation in the field of air defense, but the Iranian partners had not shown interest. He stressed that there are no articles on military-technical cooperation in the current strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran.

 Context and consequences

Iran's rejection of the Russian initiative to create a unique air defense and missile defense system indicates a complex domestic policy and divergent approaches to defense cooperation. This may limit Iran's ability to counter modern aerial threats, especially against the backdrop of growing tensions in the region.

Russia continues to support Iran within the framework of international norms and has previously supplied anti-aircraft missile systems such as the S-300 and upgraded systems, but the creation of an integrated air defense and missile defense system has not been implemented.

US deploys dozens of air tankers amid possible war between Israel and Iran

According to intelligence sources, the US Air Force has begun a large-scale deployment of KC-135 and KC-46 tanker aircraft to Europe amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. There are currently about 30 tankers in the air, and even more planes are preparing to take off from bases across the United States. Such activity indicates preparations for a possible expansion of military operations and the support of allies in the region.

The escalation of the conflict began with massive Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities as part of Operation Rising Lion. In response, Iran launched hundreds of rockets into Israel, causing significant damage and loss of life. Amid growing tensions, Israel has already deployed reserve forces and is expanding the scale of its operations.

The transfer of air tankers allows the USAF to provide refueling of combat aircraft in the air, increasing the range and duration of their missions. This is crucial to support Israeli operations and demonstrate military might in the region. Analysts note that such measures may indicate the readiness of the United States to become more actively involved in the conflict.

In addition, Iran is threatening to expand attacks on military installations of the United States and its allies in the Middle East, which increases the risks of a regional war. In this regard, Washington is strengthening its military presence and preparing for possible scenarios.

Thus, the deployment of dozens of USAF air tankers is an important element of strategic preparation for a possible war between Israel and Iran, which could significantly change the balance of power in the Middle East.

Trump convenes an emergency Pentagon meeting on possible U.S. involvement in the conflict with Iran

Former US President Donald Trump has initiated an emergency meeting at the Pentagon on the involvement of the US armed forces in a military conflict with Iran. According to information received from sources close to the administration, the request for such a meeting came from Israel, which, according to the Israeli authorities, has exhausted its capabilities in the confrontation with Iran and needs the support of the United States.

Israel is actively fighting against Iranian facilities, but the scale and intensity of Iran's retaliatory strikes threaten the country's security. In this regard, Trump and his team are considering options for further actions, including a possible expansion of the American military presence and direct participation in the conflict.

Meanwhile, analysts and experts warn of the risks of provocations that could be organized to involve the United States in the war. One of the likely scenarios is a "false flag" attack on US military installations, which could serve as a formal reason for the expansion of hostilities.

Such a course of events could lead to a significant escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and entail serious international consequences. At the same time, debates continue within the United States regarding the expediency of military intervention, given the possible political and economic risks.

Further developments in the situation and official statements from representatives of the Pentagon and the White House on this issue are expected in the coming days.

Great Britain is moving planes to the Middle East amid the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict

On June 14, 2025, the United Kingdom began deploying additional military aircraft, including Eurofighter Typhoon fighters and tanker aircraft, to the Middle East in response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that these measures are aimed at providing "emergency support" to regional security and preparedness for unforeseen situations.

Starmer stressed that the UK is not yet involved in hostilities, but does not rule out the possibility of providing military assistance to Israel, as it already happened in October 2024, when the British Air Force helped intercept Iranian missiles and drones. Additional aircraft are taking off from both the UK and the RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus, where British forces are already deployed in operations against terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria.

The Prime Minister also called for a de-escalation of the conflict and stressed the need to stabilize the situation in the Middle East. At the same time, he noted that the situation is developing rapidly, and the government is closely monitoring the events.

The escalation began after Israel's large-scale Operation Rising Lion, during which the Israeli Air Force attacked Iran's nuclear and military facilities, including the elimination of high-ranking Iranian military and nuclear scientists. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of Operation True Promise 3, during which rocket attacks were launched against Israel.

Iran is also threatening to attack French, British and US military installations in the Middle East, which increases the risks of an expansion of the conflict. In this regard, the United Kingdom and the United States are strengthening their military presence in the region, deploying additional forces and air defense systems to protect their bases and allies.

Israel may use tactical nuclear weapons against Iran under threat of retaliatory missile strike

Israel is considering the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons against Iran in case the situation gets out of control and the country fails to withstand an Iranian retaliatory missile strike, sources say.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that Iran has approached the "point of no return" in its nuclear program, possessing sufficient reserves of enriched uranium to produce up to 15 nuclear warheads. Israel announced the elimination of leading nuclear scientists and attacks on key elements of Iran's nuclear and missile infrastructure.

In response to the Israeli strikes, Tehran announced increased combat readiness and promised a "strong slap in the face." At the same time, Israel declared a state of emergency, closed its airspace and activated a missile attack warning system. With the threat mounting and a possible large-scale retaliatory strike, Israel is considering all options, including the use of tactical nuclear weapons if national security is threatened.

Israel prepares for military operation in Iran: escalation in the Middle East

Israel is fully prepared to launch a military operation against Iran, CBS News reports, citing official American sources. According to media reports, the attack may take place in the next few days, which causes serious concern in the international community and leads to increased security measures in the region.

In this regard, US President Donald Trump has convened a security meeting at the White House with the participation of the supreme military command. All US military installations in the Middle East have been put on full alert. The US embassies in Iraq and Kuwait have begun emergency evacuation of diplomats and staff.

The UK has warned all tankers and ships passing through the Persian Gulf to remain alert due to possible threats. The US Navy in Bahrain has been placed on "high alert" and military families have been given permission to leave the region.

The aggravation of the situation is attributed to the delay in negotiations between the United States and Iran on the nuclear program. The US president's special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, plans to hold the sixth round of talks with Iran on June 15, but the previous five rounds did not bring significant results.

Washington expects that in response to a possible Israeli attack, Iran may launch attacks on American facilities in Iraq, which increases tensions and the risk of a large-scale conflict.

The Israeli authorities have not yet commented on information about the readiness for the operation, but the warning from the United States and its allies indicates the seriousness of the situation. President Trump stressed that the United States will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, and is ready for any scenario.

Qatar purchases the FS-LIDS anti-drone system from the United States in the amount of 1 billion dollars

    FS-LIDS

Government The United States has announced the conclusion of a major defense contract with Qatar for the supply of an integrated anti-drone system Raytheon Fixed Site Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft System Integrated Defeat System (FS-LIDS). The agreement amounts to 1 billion dollars, making Qatar the first international buyer of this advanced technology.

FS-LIDS is a multi—level system designed to detect, track, and neutralize small drones (UAS), including light drones used for both reconnaissance and terrorist purposes. The system combines radars, electronic warfare equipment, optoelectronic sensors and kinetic methods of destruction, providing reliable protection of strategically important objects.

This acquisition is part of Qatar's efforts to modernize its **national air defense system**, especially amid the growing threats from unmanned aerial vehicles in the Middle East region. Recent years have shown how actively drones are used in military and terrorist operations, starting with attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and ending with their large-scale use in conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

The United States positions this contract as an important step in strengthening its strategic partnership with one of its key allies in the Persian Gulf. He also highlights the growing interest of the countries of the region in modern anti-drone systems, which are becoming increasingly relevant in the context of evolving security threats.

The delivery of the FS-LIDS system will allow Qatar to significantly increase the level of protection of its military bases, government facilities and civil aviation infrastructure from potential attacks using small UAVs.

PROFESSOR JEFFREY SACHS' VIEW ON THE CONFLICT IN UKRAINE, THE OUTCOME OF THE WAR AND PEACE NEGOTIATIONS, ISRAEL AND EUROPE

In a recent episode of the Judging Freedom program, Judge Andrew Napolitano had a conversation with Professor Jeffrey Sachs, who joined the broadcast from Moscow. The discussion touched upon complex geopolitical issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, as well as the potential role of Donald Trump in peacekeeping efforts.Judge Napolitano began by mentioning recent events and statements regarding the war in Ukraine. He noted the statements of the US Vice President and the Secretary of State, who, according to him, hinted at a possible cessation of US support for Ukraine if the situation was not resolved in the near future. The idea of General Kellogg, Trump's adviser on Ukraine, dividing the country into protectorates under the auspices of NATO was also mentioned, a proposal that Napolitano called "absurd" and "unviable from the very beginning." Special attention was paid to the recent short conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky, which took place in an unusual place – St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican, without the presence of others. Napolitano expressed doubt that both leaders would remember this meeting in the same way. In this context, he asked Professor Sachs a key question: where, in his opinion, are American efforts to achieve peace moving?

Professor Sachs outlined his analysis, highlighting two main points. Firstly, according to him, Ukraine is losing on the battlefield, and this trend is irreversible in the coming months and years. Secondly, he expressed confidence that the United States, under Trump's leadership (if elected), would not actively return to the war by providing Ukraine with large-scale financing and military supplies. Sachs believes that this puts Ukraine in front of a tough choice: either agree to a settlement that does not meet its maximum requirements, but reflects the realities, or face further territorial losses on the battlefield. In his opinion, this is a fundamental choice that the current US administration cannot change.Sachs also touched upon the position of European leaders. He noted that many of them, including potential future leaders such as Keir Starmer in Britain, Emmanuel Macron in France, and possibly Friedrich Merz in Germany, are calling on Ukraine to continue fighting and not cede territory. However, according to Sachs, Europe does not have the real means to effectively support such a strategy, especially without the active participation of the United States. Even the joint efforts of Europe and the United States have not led to a significant pushback of the Russian forces. Now, without the prospect of large-scale American support under Trump, Europe will not be able to ensure Ukraine's victory.Professor Sachs offered a harsh characterization of the current Ukrainian government, calling it a ruling group driven by "extreme and violent nationalism" that came to power as a result of the 2014 coup backed by the United States. He claims that this regime does not enjoy broad popular support, as evidenced by the lack of elections, martial law and the forced mobilization of citizens to the front, where many are dying. According to him, polls show that the population of Ukraine is exhausted by the war and wants it to end. In response to Napolitano's question whether Zelensky was a puppet of the nationalists, Sachs replied in the affirmative, suggesting that the president might fear for his life or his political future if he made concessions. Sachs believes that if Zelensky is unable to make a difficult decision about peace, he should leave. In an interesting way, Sachs rethought the roles in the conflict. He rejected the idea that Trump was allegedly siding with Putin against Ukraine. On the contrary, according to Sachs, it is the "peace party", to which he ranks Trump, that can save Ukraine by offering a realistic settlement. Those who are pushing Ukraine to continue the war (the "war party", including some European leaders), in fact, condemn the country to further bloodshed and destruction.

Sachs is convinced that Ukraine should agree to a peace agreement, even if it is not perfect, because the alternative is to lose everything.During the conversation, footage was shown where Trump looked sleepy at a public event, which Sachs humorously attributed to possible fatigue from flights. There was also a photo of Professor Sachs with Ray McGovern, taken, as Sachs confirmed, recently in Moscow, where he participated in the Open Dialogue conference organized by the Russian government to discuss the future in a frank manner. Then the conversation turned to the Middle East. Napolitano asked why there were no Israeli officials at the Pope's recent event. Sachs explained this by saying that Israel, in his opinion, has become a "rogue state" because of its actions in Gaza, which has led to its isolation on the world stage. He stressed that Trump's idea of normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia without resolving the Palestinian issue is erroneous. According to his estimates, the vast majority of the world community (about 95% of the world's population, including all Arab and 57 Islamic countries) supports the two-state solution. Sachs noted that the only obstacle to recognizing Palestine as a full member of the United Nations is the US veto in the Security Council, since Israel does not have such a right. He suggested that if Trump, after visiting the Middle East and listening to Arab leaders, would change the US position and stop blocking Palestinian statehood, he would really be able to achieve peace. Sachs believes that Trump may have more freedom of action on this issue than it seems, as American public opinion is increasingly condemning Israel's actions, and opposing the Israeli lobby no longer necessarily means going against the will of Americans. In conclusion, Professor Sachs reiterated his hope that leaders, including Trump, would realize the realities and strive for peace, whether in Ukraine or the Middle East, stressing that the continuation of conflicts only leads to further losses and suffering. He mentioned mass peaceful demonstrations in Europe, such as the 80,000-strong rally in Rome, as evidence of people's deep desire to end wars.

The US Air Force has deployed air defense systems to Israel: details of a large-scale operation

    C-17A Globemaster III

Eight C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft operating under the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command were spotted on a strategic mission to transfer air defense systems from Ramstein Air Base in Germany to Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel. This step raises questions about its goals and significance in the context of the current geopolitical situation.

The C-17A Globemaster III is one of the most reliable military transport aircraft in the world, capable of transporting bulky cargo over long distances. Its use for this operation underscores the importance and urgency of delivering air defense systems to Israel. Although the exact nature of the systems being transported has not been disclosed, experts suggest that this may be due to the strengthening of Israeli defensive capabilities amid growing threats in the region.

Ramstein Air Base in Germany is a key logistics hub for U.S. and NATO operations in Europe and the Middle East. The transfer of weapons from this base to Israel indicates coordination between Washington and Jerusalem on security issues. Nevatim Air Base, located in southern Israel, is known for its role in deploying modern air defense technologies such as the Iron Dome and David's Sling systems.

This operation may be a reaction to increased tensions in the region, including the activation of Iranian forces and their allies. The deployment of air defense systems allows Israel to increase its level of protection against potential missile or drone attacks, which is especially important in the context of instability in the Middle East.

However, it remains unclear whether these systems are a temporary support measure or part of a long-term strategy to strengthen Israel's defense capabilities. In addition, this step may be a signal to other countries in the region about the readiness of the United States to support its allies even in difficult conditions.

The large-scale operation using eight C-17A Globemaster III also demonstrates the logistical capabilities of the U.S. Air Force and its ability to respond quickly to changes in global security. This highlights the importance of aviation mobility as a key element of modern military strategy.

South Korea requests additional military support from the United States after redeploying Patriot batteries

South Korea has officially requested additional military support from the United States following the partial redeployment of Patriot missile defense batteries initially stationed on the Korean peninsula to the Middle East. This step was taken in response to the increased threat from North Korea and the need to strengthen defense in the region.

In March 2025, the United States and South Korea agreed to temporarily relocate part of the Patriot batteries to the Middle East. This decision was made in connection with the need to strengthen the US military presence in the region, where the situation with the Yemeni Houthis has worsened. The redeployment was the first known case of the transfer of US forces from South Korea to the Middle East.

The redeployment of Patriot batteries has raised concerns in South Korea, as it has weakened the country's missile defenses. With North Korea's nuclear buildup and threats from Pyongyang, Seoul urgently needs to strengthen its defenses. South Korea has requested additional military support from the United States to compensate for the temporary absence of Patriot batteries and ensure security on the Korean peninsula.

The United States is considering South Korea's request and is likely to provide additional military assistance. Washington has confirmed that it will continue to support combat-ready and deadly forces on the Korean peninsula, ready to respond to any unforeseen situation. This underscores the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries in the face of the growing threat from the DPRK.

The redeployment of Patriot batteries and South Korea's subsequent request for additional military support underscore the importance of cooperation between Seoul and Washington in ensuring security in the region. The United States is likely to satisfy its ally's request in order to maintain stability on the Korean peninsula and deter aggression from North Korea.
