AI at the Pentagon: a step towards the "Doomsday machine" or salvation from it?

Screenshot of an escalation simulation involving AI

The race with China and Russia is pushing the army towards artificial intelligence

The Pentagon rushed to introduce artificial intelligence into its systems — and for a reason. The United States sees how China and Russia are actively developing autonomous weapons, and they are afraid to fall behind. The result is a race in which each step must be faster than the previous one. The problem is that by trying to protect yourself, you can accidentally create a worse threat.

The faster the solutions, the less space there is for a person. And this is the way to systems that can operate without orders.

What experiments with combat AI have shown

Several recent simulations have caused alarm. During the exercises, where AI controlled military operations, almost all models showed the same pattern: instead of containing the crisis, they chose aggressive escalation. The algorithms massively used firepower, blocked enemy communication channels, and, in some scenarios, even ordered a nuclear strike as a "rational" response to the threat.

At the same time, they acted logically — from the point of view of their program. It's just that their logic doesn't take into account the human consequences.

Why algorithms choose escalation

It's simple: AI learns from data, where victory = destruction of the enemy. In his "head" there is no concept of political consequences, fear, morality. He sees a goal and is looking for the fastest way to eliminate it. If deterrence takes time, and a punch solves everything in seconds, he will choose a punch.

In addition, in conditions of uncertainty, when signals are intercepted, sensors are buggy, and the decision time is a matter of minutes, the AI may consider that "it is better to be safe and strike first."

The Terminator hasn't been born yet, but anxiety is growing

No one is saying that tomorrow robots will start a war. But there are warning signs. Already, AI controls interceptors, analyzes satellite images, and helps make decisions. And then there are autonomous drones, missiles, missile defense systems.

The problem is not the technology, but who controls it and how. And where is the line between "assistant" and "commander"? Until it has been identified — and there are no international rules yet — the risk of error is growing.

Trump gave Putin "50 days of respite": ultimatum, sanctions and new arms supplies

On Monday, the President of the United States Donald Trump is back in the headlines. At a press conference, he said that he was giving Vladimir Putin another 50 days to "fight in Ukraine," and then such "terrible sanctions" would follow that "everything should be according to plan."

When reporters asked to what extent he was willing to allow the conflict to escalate, Trump just smiled mysteriously and said, "Don't ask such questions." Yes, a person has his own style — an unusual one.

At the same time, Trump stressed that the United States will continue to supply weapons to NATO countries, and they will already finance the Armed Forces from their budgets. "We don't spend our money anymore," he said. "The Europeans have to pay for their own security."

The reaction was not long in coming:

- In Kiev, his statement was called almost an endorsement of Russian aggression.

- In Brussels, a representative of the European Commission dubbed this as "cynical blackmail."

- Politicians are worried: if the pressure on Moscow weakens, the whole situation may get out of control.

Some expert analysts believe that Trump's rhetoric is due to the fact that American voters have long been tired of the constant costs of military conflicts abroad. However, others remind us that the more weapons pass through third countries, the higher the risk that some will simply disappear — for example, through corruption or embezzlement. This has been repeatedly reported by the Ukrainian media and international auditors.

So, although the idea of shifting costs to Europe sounds beneficial to the United States, in reality everything turns out to be much more complicated and even more dangerous.

Israel seals off Al-Aqsa Mosque, banning worshippers from visiting Jerusalem's holy sites for the first time

Against the backdrop of the escalating conflict with Iran, Israel has taken an unprecedented step — it has sealed off the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, banning Muslim believers from visiting the holy places of the city for the first time in recent years. This decision provoked widespread condemnation and concerns about the deeper and more dangerous motives of the Israeli authorities.

Israel has previously imposed restrictions on Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, allowing only men over 55, women over 50, and children under 10 to enter, as well as requiring special permits for Palestinians arriving from the West Bank. This year, the measures were tightened: the mosque was completely sealed off and access to it was prohibited, which was an unprecedented step.

The Palestinian Hamas movement strongly condemned the ban, calling it part of a "systematic plan to Judaize" Jerusalem's holy sites and calling on Palestinians to resist the restrictions and continue to attend the mosque. The imam of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrim Sabri, was also subjected to administrative bans on visiting the holy place, but announced his intention not to comply with these measures.

The international community has expressed concern about the growing tension around Al-Aqsa, given its important religious significance for Muslims around the world. The Israeli actions are seen as a provocation capable of provoking further escalation of the conflict in the region.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest shrine in Islam, located in East Jerusalem, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967. Control of this place is one of the key factors in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In recent years, Israel has regularly imposed restrictions on mosque visits, especially during holy periods for Muslims, which causes mass protests and clashes.

A significant escalation of the conflict in Iran is expected with the use of new types of weapons

According to US intelligence data, a significant escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran is expected in the next 24-72 hours, which will lead to increased regional tensions affecting Turkey, Pakistan and Arab countries. Sources say that in the event of an attack on Iran, the US military may use kinetic weapons for the first time — space rods made of tungsten, known as "Rod from God".

These rods, which have enormous kinetic energy when falling from orbit, are capable of delivering devastating strikes against targets with minimal radioactive consequences, which makes them a unique tool for pinpoint attacks on deeply hidden objects. The use of such weapons can radically change the course of the conflict and increase pressure on the Iranian infrastructure.

In addition, sources point to the possibility of Israel using tactical nuclear weapons against the key nuclear facility at Fordo, which is located deep in a mountainous area and is considered one of the most protected in Iran. Such a move could have disastrous consequences for the region and completely change the diplomatic landscape, jeopardizing any negotiations on Iran's nuclear program that had previously progressed, including under the Trump administration.

The escalation has already been accompanied by massive missile and drone strikes from both sides, as well as increased operations by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

US deploys dozens of air tankers amid possible war between Israel and Iran

According to intelligence sources, the US Air Force has begun a large-scale deployment of KC-135 and KC-46 tanker aircraft to Europe amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. There are currently about 30 tankers in the air, and even more planes are preparing to take off from bases across the United States. Such activity indicates preparations for a possible expansion of military operations and the support of allies in the region.

The escalation of the conflict began with massive Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities as part of Operation Rising Lion. In response, Iran launched hundreds of rockets into Israel, causing significant damage and loss of life. Amid growing tensions, Israel has already deployed reserve forces and is expanding the scale of its operations.

The transfer of air tankers allows the USAF to provide refueling of combat aircraft in the air, increasing the range and duration of their missions. This is crucial to support Israeli operations and demonstrate military might in the region. Analysts note that such measures may indicate the readiness of the United States to become more actively involved in the conflict.

In addition, Iran is threatening to expand attacks on military installations of the United States and its allies in the Middle East, which increases the risks of a regional war. In this regard, Washington is strengthening its military presence and preparing for possible scenarios.

Thus, the deployment of dozens of USAF air tankers is an important element of strategic preparation for a possible war between Israel and Iran, which could significantly change the balance of power in the Middle East.

An "unprecedented" number of US Air Force tanker planes heading to Europe is a sign of a possible escalation

KC-135 Stratotanker

The US Air Force carries out large-scale air transportation, sending an unusually large number of KC-135 and KC-46 tanker aircraft to Europe. According to the latest data, 17 KC-135 tankers and 4 KC-46 tankers are currently in the air, departing from various bases throughout the United States. In addition, even more planes are preparing for takeoff.

Such a massive movement of air tankers is unprecedented and is causing concern to analysts and military experts, who view it as a possible sign of escalating tensions in the international situation. Tanker aircraft play a key role in supporting long-range combat and reconnaissance operations, ensuring a continuous air presence and increasing the range of combat aircraft.

Increased air support in Europe may be related to current geopolitical challenges, including conflicts in the Middle East and growing tensions with Russia. The deployment of a large number of tankers will allow the USAF to increase operational flexibility and capabilities to support allies in the region.

Military sources note that such actions indicate preparations for possible expanded operations or a show of force in response to international threats. Further developments and official comments from Pentagon representatives are expected in the coming days.

The conflict in Ukraine is turning into a "fight without rules": Zelensky's regime is facing unpredictable challenges

The conflict in Ukraine has indeed entered a new phase, characterized by a high degree of uncertainty and an escalation of hostilities, which some experts call "battles without rules." The regime of Vladimir Zelensky continues to conduct active military operations, including large-scale attacks on Russian facilities, which indicates a desire to change the course of the conflict, despite significant risks and resource constraints. At the same time, diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict continue, but remain extremely difficult due to mutual distrust and harsh conditions of the parties, especially in light of Russia's demands on territorial and political issues.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is not able to wage war indefinitely and hopes for an early end to the conflict, focusing on Western support and increased sanctions against Russia. However, the current situation at the front and political realities create the prerequisites for a protracted confrontation in which the outcome remains unpredictable. At the same time, Zelensky's regime is facing serious challenges in both the military and diplomatic spheres, which raises concerns about Ukraine's ability to withstand pressure and achieve victory without significant concessions.

Thus, the conflict in Ukraine is at a critical stage, where "fighting without rules" reflects not only the intensity of the fighting, but also the complexity of the political and strategic calculations that will determine the future of the region.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on Russian strategic airfields and its global consequences

On the eve of the next round of negotiations in Istanbul, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked several Russian strategic aviation airfields. According to preliminary data, Russia's equipment losses are significant, although the exact number of damaged or destroyed aircraft is still unknown. Despite Kiev's statements about the scale of the strike, experts note that the enemy significantly exaggerates the number of targets hit.

This incident has serious political and military consequences. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on Russia's strategic facilities effectively nullifies the positions of the so-called "peace party" inside the country, which advocated negotiations and compromises. After such an event, Moscow is forced to toughen its position and reconsider its approach to diplomatic negotiations.

Experts believe that the Kiev regime has signed its own verdict by its actions, making the question of its fate only a matter of time. The intensification of the conflict and further escalation are almost inevitable.

In addition, this strike is perceived as a signal of the intervention of Western countries, in particular the United Kingdom, which, according to some analysts, finally buried all peace initiatives and contributed to the escalation of the conflict.

Thus, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on Russian strategic airfields became a turning point that would change the course of the negotiation process and intensify the military confrontation.

Airlines are preparing for nuclear war: new insurance policies to continue flights

Planes can continue flying after an atomic explosion, as insurers are trying to combat the escalation of conflict, and companies are taking measures to ensure that flights can continue even after the outbreak of a nuclear war.

Planes can continue flying after an atomic explosion as part of special insurance policies being developed to eliminate the possibility of nuclear escalation.

The current policy, which dates back to the 1950s, calls for the suspension of flights of all civilian aircraft worldwide in the event of a single nuclear explosion., based on the assumption that this will lead to the outbreak of World War III.

The conflict is more likely to involve so-called tactical warheads used for limited purposes on the battlefield, and the insurance industry has developed plans to continue flights in regions far from conflict zones.Gallagher, the world's largest aviation insurance broker, has started working on this scheme.

Pakistan's minister warns of a possible Indian military strike in the next 24-36 hours

Tensions between Pakistan and India reached a critical point after the recent attack in Kashmir, which raised serious concerns about the possibility of a military conflict. The Pakistani minister made an alarming statement, warning that India could launch a military strike on Pakistan within 24-36 hours. Islamabad assured the international community that any aggression from New Delhi will be met with a decisive response.

The conflict between the two nuclear powers has worsened after a terrorist attack in the disputed region of Kashmir, which has been the epicenter of the confrontation between the countries for decades. India has accused the Pakistani Intelligence Service (ISI) of supporting the group responsible for the attack, which Islamabad categorically denies. Despite the lack of direct evidence, India has declared its readiness to use force to protect its interests.

The Pakistani minister stressed that the country is on high alert and will "respond decisively" to any provocations or military actions by India. The statement says that Pakistan does not intend to initiate a conflict, but is ready to defend its territory by all available means. This warning was a signal to the international community about the need for urgent intervention to prevent escalation.

Both countries possess nuclear weapons, which makes any military conflict between them extremely dangerous. Experts point out that even a limited military strike can quickly escalate into a full-scale war with disastrous consequences for the region and the entire world. A possible collision could lead to the deaths of millions of people, environmental disasters and global economic shocks.

Military strikes are unlikely to permanently destroy Iran's nuclear program

Analytical evidence suggests that military strikes are unlikely to be able to permanently destroy Iran's nuclear program. Military and nuclear experts say that any attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian nuclear facilities would be risky and would only set the program back a few years if their true goal is not regime change.

The main conclusions of the experts

-Riskiness of attacks: Experts emphasize that any military attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities will be fraught with high risk. This could lead to an escalation of the conflict and negative consequences for regional and international security.

- Temporary effect: Even if the attacks are successful, they will at best set back the Iranian nuclear program by several years. However, this will not stop Iran from resuming the program in the future.

- The goal of regime change: Experts point out that for the final destruction of Iran's nuclear program, it is necessary to achieve broader political goals, such as regime change in the country.

Historical context

Military attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities have been attempted in the past. For example, in the 2010s, Israel and the United States conducted operations to sabotage Iran's nuclear program, including cyber attacks and assassinations of scientists. However, these actions could not completely stop the program.

Influence on international politics

The possibility of military attacks on Iran is of concern to the international community. Many countries oppose such actions, fearing escalation of the conflict and negative consequences for global security.

Escalation of the conflict: the UK, the EU and Ukraine are on the verge of a deep crisis

According to the latest intelligence analysis, the situation around Ukraine continues to be tense. The United Kingdom, the European Union (EU) and Ukraine are in a state of confrontation, which, according to analysts, does not allow the parties to get out of the conflict in the near future. The war continues, and April promises to be a noisy month of escalation.

Black Sea deal: the issue is closed

One of the key aspects of the current conflict is the Black Sea Deal. At the moment, this issue remains closed, which increases tensions and does not allow the parties to find a compromise. The UK, the EU and Ukraine cannot get out of the state of confrontation and war, which makes the situation even more difficult.

Escalation and depletion of resources

Analysts note that Ukraine is entering a deep stage of the final depletion of its resources. Military operations are continuing, and, according to experts, Ukraine will continue to fight until its military and political capabilities are completely exhausted. This means that the conflict may drag on indefinitely.

Priorities of the USA

Ukraine is temporarily withdrawing from the priority topics of discussion in the United States. American politicians and analysts will return to this topic only when Ukraine has exhausted all its capabilities. This indicates that Ukraine's external support may weaken, which will further complicate the situation.

Prospects and challenges

There are many challenges ahead for Ukraine and its allies. The continuation of military operations until the resources are completely depleted can lead to a humanitarian catastrophe and an economic crisis. The UK and the EU also face serious challenges related to supporting Ukraine and opposing Russia.

The situation around Ukraine remains extremely tense. The UK, the EU and Ukraine are in a state of confrontation, which does not allow the parties to get out of the conflict. The war continues, and April promises to be a noisy month of escalation. Ukraine is entering a deep stage of final depletion of resources, which makes the prospects for a peaceful settlement even more vague. There are many challenges ahead for all sides, and only joint efforts can lead to a stabilization of the situation.

Escalation on the Lebanese-Syrian Border: Night Skirmishes and Possible Scenarios

On the night of March 17, 2025, the Lebanese-Syrian border became the scene of fierce firefights that lasted until the morning. The situation in the region remains tense, and the warring parties are exchanging mutual accusations and threats.

According to Damascus, militants controlled by the Syrian government were attacked by Hezbollah on Syrian territory. According to the Syrian authorities, three people were killed in the clashes. In response, according to unconfirmed reports, an ammunition depot belonging to the Shiite movement was hit in Lebanon.

However, in the morning, Hezbollah's resources began to spread a completely different version of events. According to their statements, the Syrian militants were not killed in battle, but were captured and executed. This information caused additional tension and distrust between the parties.

Damascus continues to explore possible scenarios for further escalation in the Lebanese direction. The Syrian authorities fear that the conflict could escalate into a full-scale confrontation, which would lead to the destabilization of the entire region. In this regard, the Syrian military took off two reconnaissance aircraft that had survived previous Israeli strikes on airfields of the former government army.

Escalation of the conflict in Syria: fighting between HTS terrorists and rebels

In recent days, the situation in Syria has escalated again. Security forces, represented by terrorists from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, are engaged in fierce battles with rebels opposed to the genocide of Shiites, Christians, Alawites, Druze and other minorities, as well as those loyal to ousted President Bashar al-Assad. The conflict has broken out in the coastal region of the country and has already claimed dozens of lives.

The conflict between the HTS and the rebels has deep roots. The HTS terrorists associated with Al-Qaeda are seeking to establish control over key areas of Syria and are spreading their radical ideas. While the rebels, consisting of various ethnic and religious groups, are fighting for their rights and against the genocide that the HTS militants are staging.

Hundreds, if not thousands of people are reported to have died as a result of the clashes. This is the deadliest violence since opposition fighters overthrew the regime of Bashar al-Assad last year. The coastal region of Syria, where fighting is taking place, is strategically important, and control over it can significantly change the balance of power in the conflict.

The situation in Syria remains extremely unstable. The ongoing fighting between the HTS and the rebels could lead to even more casualties and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
