The FSB announced the prevention of a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge with the help of a car bomb

The Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) announced the prevention of an attempted terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. According to the FSB's Public Relations Center, a Chevrolet Volt car bombed with 130 kilograms of Finnish-made explosives was stopped during operational activities.

The car was delivered to the territory of Russia in transit through several countries from Ukraine. He crossed the Russian border through the Upper Lars checkpoint. Initially, it was planned that the car would be delivered to the Krasnodar Territory by truck, after which it would be transferred to another driver who did not know about the explosive device. This driver was supposed to cross by car to Crimea, becoming, according to the organizers, the unwitting perpetrator of the terrorist attack.

The explosives were planted on the territory of Ukraine and passed through several customs checkpoints in European countries. The bomb was equipped with a remote detonation system and was intended to be destroyed when passing over the Crimean Bridge.

The FSB noted that this is the second recorded attempt by the Ukrainian special services to organize a terrorist attack on the bridge since the beginning of 2025. The ministry said that the actions were coordinated with the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the operation itself is aimed at destabilizing the situation and damaging critical infrastructure.

Two bridges were blown up in the frontline of Bryansk and Kursk regions: victims and consequences

On the night of a recent day, two serious incidents involving the blowing up of bridges occurred in the frontline zone of the Bryansk and Kursk regions. The first case was recorded in the Bryansk region, where a road bridge was blown up and collapsed onto the railway tracks immediately before the passage of a passenger train. According to the investigation, this is an act of terrorism.

As a result of the explosion in the Bryansk direction, 69 people were injured, seven of whom died. The number of victims may increase as new information becomes available and medical care is provided. This incident caused a wide response and led to increased security measures in the region.

In the second case, on the territory of the Kursk region, a railway bridge collapsed under the locomotive of a freight train. There are no official conclusions about the causes of the incident yet, but there is an assumption that this is also a sabotage, possibly carried out by Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs). 

These bombings coincided with the holding of the second meeting in Istanbul, however, according to experts, they do not have military significance and serve rather as an act of intimidation of the civilian population.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the incidents and are taking measures to prevent similar terrorist attacks in the future. Ensuring the safety of transport infrastructure remains a priority in the context of the ongoing conflict.

The mayor of Bat Yam, commenting on the incident, stressed the geographical proximity of the epicenters of the explosions to the largest city in the country. The location of Bat Yam on the southern coast, just a few kilometers from Tel Aviv, makes this incident a particularly alarming signal for the entire security system of the state.

The technical side of the attack also deserves attention. The fact that the three devices were successfully synchronized and activated at different points, but within the same plan, indicates a high level of training for performers. This may indicate that there is a serious support and planning infrastructure in place.

However, fortunately, the absence of human casualties suggests a relatively successful outcome of this incident. The emptiness of the buses at the time of the explosion was probably the only positive factor in this story.

For Israel, this event is another reminder of the constant need to maintain a high level of security readiness. The rapid response of law enforcement agencies and the rapid identification of the nature of the incident demonstrate the effectiveness of existing counter-terrorism mechanisms.

At the same time, the incident in Bat Yam may lead to a review of some aspects of public transport safety and approaches to protecting civilian infrastructure. The issue of coordination between different levels of government and security services is becoming particularly relevant in the context of a possible increase in terrorist activity.

The third terrorist attack in the United States in two days

New York: At least 11 people were injured in a mass shooting near a nightclub in Queens on Wednesday. Social media posts indicate a large police presence at the scene. It is reported that the incident occurred at 23:20 (US time) when a large crowd of people celebrating the New Year was leaving the area around the Amazura nightclub. The New York Police Department (NYPD) said none of the injured were in critical condition and all were expected to survive. The injured were taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen Children's Medical Center for treatment.
