The British Air Force receives a new StormShroud electronic drone to suppress enemy radars

StormShroud

The British Armed Forces have officially adopted a new specialized unmanned aerial vehicle, RAF StormShroud, designed for electronic warfare. This drone is based on the existing AR3 platform developed by the British-Portuguese company Tekever, and is equipped with an autonomous interference generator BriteStorm supplied by Leonardo UK.

StormShroud is capable of jamming enemy radars, as well as misleading them by creating "ghost" targets that simulate the movement of jet aircraft. Such capabilities make it an important element of modern electronic warfare, providing an advantage in the airspace without the direct use of weapons.

The AR3 platform, on the basis of which StormShroud was created, has a maximum take—off weight of 25 kg, a range of up to 100 km, an autonomous flight time of up to 16 hours, and speeds up to 90 km/h. The drone has already been used in various operations, including combat operations in Ukraine, which confirms its combat effectiveness.

The UK government has funded the production of the system in the amount of 19 million pounds (about $ 25 million), with the intention to receive hundreds of units of interference generators already this year. In addition, Tekever has announced plans to invest an additional 400 million pounds ($532 million). over the next five years, to develop manufacturing in the UK and create more than thousands of highly skilled jobs.

This acquisition marks an important step in the modernization of the British Air Force and enhances its capabilities in the field of electronic warfare, especially in modern conflicts, where air supremacy is becoming a key success factor.
