The British engineering company Supacat has signed its first export contract: 18 highly mobile HMT Mk3 Extenda vehicles will leave for the Czech Republic. This is important not only for the army, but also for the company itself — before that, its legendary Jeeps, known in the UK as the Jackal 3 Extenda, served only in the British military. Now they will appear for the first time in a NATO ally.

For the Czech Republic, this is a step towards modernization, and for Supacat, it is the beginning of entering the international market.

Jackal 3 Extenda — what it can do and what is better than the old Jeeps

The Jackal 3 Extenda is not just an off—road vehicle. It is a highly mobile combat platform designed to operate in difficult conditions: mud, snow, rough terrain. It is fast, lightweight, but at the same time durable and can carry a serious load.

Compared to the outdated Land Rovers currently in service, it gives the Czech military more speed, maneuverability, and the ability to install weapons and electronics. The machine can be easily transported by helicopter or transport aircraft, ideal for quick operations.

Who will get the cars — and why would the Czech special forces need such equipment?

All 18 vehicles will go to the 601st Special Forces Group, an elite unit of the Czech Army. These are their main rapid reaction forces, responsible for reconnaissance, sabotage, rear-line attacks and rescue operations. For such tasks, you need a technique that will not let you down at the most critical moment.

Jackal 3 will allow them to quickly penetrate into hard-to-reach areas, remain unnoticed and at the same time have fire cover.

Not just a transport, but a platform for weapons and intelligence

Machine guns, grenade launchers, ATGMs, electronic warfare systems and reconnaissance modules can be installed on these vehicles. That is, the same jeep can be a scout, a fire support, and a tow truck.

For the 601st Group, this is not just a replacement of equipment, but an increase in combat flexibility. Now they will be able to act further, faster and stronger.

The 2nd Commando Regiment (2 CDO Regt) is one of the two main special operations units in the Australian Army. It was established in 1997, when it became clear that the country did not have enough forces to carry out serious special operations. At first, the regiment was conceived as a reserve unit to support other special forces. But over time, it turned into a full-fledged combat unit of the first level.

Now the 2nd Paratrooper Regiment is not just a "covering force." This is a highly specialized group capable of operating independently in the most difficult conditions, from offshore platforms to urban areas.

What does the 2nd Paratrooper Regiment do and how does it differ from ordinary soldiers?

The regiment is based in Sydney and is part of the Special Operations Command (SOCOMD). Its main task is offensive special operations and hostage rescue operations. These are the missions where a mistake can lead to the death of people: a terrorist on board an airplane, a school takeover, an offshore drilling crisis.

The 2nd Parachute Regiment is Australia's leading national counterterrorism and rescue unit. They are ready to act both inside and outside the country. They are compared to the British SAS, SBS and the Canadian JTF2 — their level of training and trust in them is so high.

How does SOCOMD work and who else is in this club?

The 2nd Commando Regiment operates in conjunction with the Special Aviation Regiment (SASR), the second first—level unit in SOCOMD. Together they form the backbone of the Australian special forces. But there is a whole system working around them: a special operations engineering regiment, an aviation regiment, a logistics squadron, and the oldest unit, the 1st Commando Regiment, whose history dates back to World War II.

The very structure of the 2nd Parachute Regiment is classified, but it is known that it is divided into several squadrons and detachments. Each of them is scalable, flexible, and ready to quickly adapt to a specific task. They are supported by specialists in communications, medicine, intelligence and logistics.

Missions where you can't make mistakes

Among the key tasks are Armed Threat Response Teams (ARPT), the fight against terrorism at sea, direct actions and operations behind enemy lines. They can infiltrate ships, storm buildings, work in confined urban spaces or in the wild.

Their motto is "error—free missions." It's not just a slogan. This is the reality they face every time they receive an order.

The Israeli defense company Robotican has announced the successful delivery of dozens of its ROOSTER hybrid unmanned systems to European special forces, intervention units, and infantry groups. This message confirms the growing interest of NATO countries in advanced Israeli technologies, especially in the context of modern local conflicts and operations in difficult terrain.

The company's statement also notes that the ROOSTER system has received official registration with NATO, which underlines its compliance with the alliance's strict military standards and recognition as a reliable solution for combat missions. The company pointed out that the adoption of the system by the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the Home Front Command, as well as elite units in Europe and the United States indicates its increasing role in modern military operations.

Designed with a focus on exploration in challenging environments, the ROOSTER is a multifunctional hybrid UAV capable of vertical takeoff and landing, as well as operating in urban environments and hard-to-reach areas. According to Robotican CEO Hagai Balshai, "ROOSTER was developed as a strategic response to the growing need for accurate intelligence in challenging environments where access is limited and situational awareness is crucial." He added that using ROOSTER allows troops to collect critical data before an operation begins, significantly reducing risks and improving mission planning.

A Russian Mi-17 helicopter of the US special Operations Forces suddenly appeared in Arizona — why is it there?

 

Against the background of tense Russian-American relations and a complete embargo on the supply of military equipment from Russia, an unusual event was recorded in Arizona (USA) — the appearance of a Russian Mi-17 helicopter, painted in a discreet gray coloring and associated with the American Special Operations Forces (SOF).

The incident occurred during recent exercises in an urban environment conducted by the US military. The participation of helicopters of this type in them has aroused the interest of analysts and experts, as it indicates the continued use of Russian-made equipment in secret Pentagon programs even after the complete severance of military-technical cooperation with Moscow.

One of the participants in the exercises, namely the Mi—17, was spotted at the Tucson air base, where US Air Force units supporting special forces operations are based. This particular instance, according to open data, was previously listed as part of a limited number of helicopters acquired by the United States before the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine and modified for the needs of special operations.

Despite the fact that the United States is actively developing its own programs for the creation and modernization of helicopters for special forces (for example, the Sikorsky MH-60 or the new Boeing SB-1 Defiant), the Mi-17 remains in demand in certain scenarios.:

- High reliability and ease of maintenance, especially in remote theaters of military operations;

- Large carrying capacity, allowing to transport special forces groups or equipment in difficult conditions;

- A unique flight technical base that can be used to train counteraction to similar machines used by potential opponents.;

- Secrecy and non-obviousness: in some regions of the world, the use of a "Russian" helicopter can help in misinformation or conceal the true identity of the operation.

According to sources, some of these vehicles are on the balance sheet of the 6th Special Operations Detachment (6th SOS), which is traditionally associated with conducting secret missions that often overlap with the activities of the CIA and other intelligence agencies.

It is noted that this Mi-17 also participated in the preparation for operations in the Middle East, including work in mountainous and desert conditions, where high engine efficiency and maneuverability are important. Such vehicles can be used both for the delivery of special groups, as well as for the evacuation of citizens or the elimination of high-ranking targets.

Former US Special Ops Weaponry and Intelligence Specialist Reveals Shocking Truths About Afghanistan and China

A former specialist in weaponry and intelligence for the US special forces has made stunning revelations, alleging that American military personnel were sent to Afghanistan as early as 2009 to safeguard Chinese mineral extraction operations. The operative, who served as an embassy representative and project researcher, claimed that during his deployments in 2009 and 2010, military operations were consistently carried out to protect Chinese mineral extraction routes.

"The Chinese were there all along," the specialist stated. According to him, every border his unit secured and every operation they conducted was aimed at safeguarding Chinese interests. "I was in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010, and everything we went through, every border we had to secure, every operation we had to fight, seemed to be protecting their route," he explained.

The pattern became so evident that he reported his observations to his superiors. His command ordered him to document his findings in an official report and submit it through the proper channels. Despite following protocol, he never received a response to his concerns.

The operative expressed disappointment, believing that China has been operating in Afghanistan for a decade with government approval. "I thought it was really strange—so far into the game, and especially to place a special forces group in that area to block a place that seemed to have nothing but Chinese drillers... for ten years they’ve been messing around in the background, in Afghanistan, with the blessing of that government, while they pretended to be working with us, and we were dying," he stated.

According to Rift News, in 2007, the China Metallurgical Group secured a major contract for mineral extraction in Afghanistan. The company was granted a 30-year lease worth $3 billion to develop a large copper deposit in the country. This contract was signed approximately seven years after the start of US military operations in Afghanistan, coinciding with significant US military presence in the country where Chinese commercial interests were also active.

While direct confirmation of military orders to protect Chinese mining operations remains elusive, documented financial ties between prominent American political families and Chinese organizations provide relevant context. For instance, the Bush family has extensive historical connections to Chinese business and political interests. In 1974, George H.W. Bush was appointed by President Gerald Ford to head the Office of Chinese Affairs. His father, Prescott Sheldon Bush, engaged in significant banking and business operations in China throughout his career. As an American banker and Republican politician, Prescott Bush established high-level business connections that later influenced his family's ties to Chinese interests.

These commercial relationships significantly expanded during the presidency of George W. Bush, who took office in 2001. How Commandos overcome stress: Methods and lessons for civilian life

High efficiency in stressful situations is not unique to special forces soldiers. Their ability to keep cool and make the right decisions under tremendous pressure is not the result of superhuman qualities, but of honed techniques and special thinking. These same principles, adapted to civilian life, can become a powerful tool for anyone who seeks to transform stress from a destructive force into a catalyst for success. Instead of panicking or giving up, you can learn to use adrenaline and tension as fuel to achieve your goals. This is not magic, but purposeful self–improvement based on the time-tested tactics of those for whom stress is an everyday reality.

The first key element is the art of mental rehearsal, or visualization. Navy Seal fighters spend hours replaying upcoming operations in their heads, imagining every step, every possible obstacle and their reaction to it. They mentally "walk" the route, practice actions when in contact with the enemy, anticipate technical problems. This is not just a fantasy, but a detailed simulation of reality that creates neural connections similar to those formed during the actual execution of a task. In everyday life, this technique is invaluable before important negotiations, public speaking, an exam, or any other event that causes anxiety. Imagine the environment, the participants, your words and actions, possible tricky questions and your confident answers. Scroll through the success scenario in your mind, feel the emotions associated with achieving the goal. Such a rehearsal in the theater of the mind reduces the level of uncertainty, gives confidence and allows you to act more collected and effective when the "x hour" arrives. The brain already "knows" this situation, and the reaction to it will be more refined.

This is followed by a strategy known as "eat the elephant piece by piece" or task segmentation. In the face of a huge, seemingly impossible problem or task, whether it's a hellish week of special forces training or a complex months-long project at work, it's easy to get discouraged and feel paralyzed. Navy Seals are learning to break down a global goal into many small, consistent, and achievable subtasks. Instead of thinking about how to survive five days without sleep and with monstrous loads, they concentrate on surviving until the next meal, completing the current exercise, and holding out for another hour. In civilian life, this principle works flawlessly. If you are faced with the task of writing a diploma, do not think about a hundred pages of text at once. Focus on the plan, then on the first chapter, then on one paragraph. Each successfully completed "piece" gives a sense of satisfaction, adds motivation and makes the overall goal less frightening and more realistic. This turns the marathon into a series of short sprints, each of which brings you closer to the finish line. 

An equally important skill is the ability to focus on what can be controlled and let go of the rest. In a combat situation, many factors are beyond the power of a soldier: the weather, enemy actions, unforeseen accidents. Trying to control the uncontrollable is a direct path to frustration and mistakes. 

Commandos focus on their actions, their training, their equipment, and their team's reactions. Similarly, in everyday life, we often spend energy worrying about things that we cannot influence: the economic situation, the behavior of other people, global events. Instead, we should focus on what is in our power: our knowledge and skills, our reactions to events, our efforts, our attitude to what is happening. Ask yourself the question: "What can I do right now in this situation?" This gives you back a sense of control and allows you to act constructively, rather than floundering helplessly in a stream of negative thoughts about what cannot be changed.

This philosophy is complemented by the practice of controlling the physiological state through breathing. Special forces soldiers use so-called "tactical" or "box breathing" to reduce stress levels and increase concentration even in the most extreme conditions. The technique is simple: inhale for four counts, hold your breath for four counts, exhale for four counts, hold your breath for four counts. This rhythmic pattern helps slow down the heart rate, lower blood pressure and calm the nervous system, literally "hacking" the physiological response to stress. In any tense situation – before an important meeting, during a conflict, with a feeling of growing panic – a few cycles of such breathing can create a miracle. It is a simple but incredibly powerful tool for regaining control of the body and mind, allowing you to think clearly and make informed decisions instead of impulsive reactions dictated by panic.

And finally, one of the most powerful strategies is accepting discomfort and even a certain "embrace" of difficulties, known among them as "embrace the suck" (literally, "accept sucks"). Instead of complaining about the severity of the situation or trying to avoid it, commandos take it for granted, as an integral part of their job, and even as a challenge to overcome. They understand that growth and development occur precisely at the limit of possibilities, in a zone of discomfort. In civilian life, this means stopping perceiving stress and difficulties solely as something negative. Difficult tasks, deadlines, and conflicts are not only sources of tension, but also opportunities for learning, character building, and gaining new experience. A positive rethink allows you to see an obstacle not as a wall, but as a step. When you accept that discomfort is inevitable on the way to meaningful goals, you stop wasting energy resisting it and direct it to overcoming it. Stress in this context becomes a signal that you are moving out of your comfort zone, which means that you are developing. This does not mean that you need to look for suffering, but it does mean that you should not be afraid of it when it occurs on the way to what is important.

France has successfully tested the RHIB reset from the A400M

 

The French Civil Defense Department drops the RHIB inflatable boat for the Navy special forces from the A400M.

DGA has successfully tested the ECUME reset system (called SLE) with the A400M. The goal was to test the packaging of the new dump system developed by DGA in record time. Thanks to an operational and innovative solution developed in 6 weeks and at a lower cost, the ECUME reset system with the A400M is now certified.

ECUME RHIB could already be dropped from C130H aircraft. After the initial phase of testing and experimentation, at the end of 2024, the special forces contacted the DGA with a request to update the packaging of the system.

The goal was to improve the condition of the landing system without any major changes or impact on the performance of existing systems, while using equipment already available in the armed forces.

Thales unveiled PANORAMIC Night vision goggles at SOFINS 2025

 At SOFINS 2025, Thales unveiled for the first time its new PANORAMIC night vision goggles, a four-tube image enhancement system specifically designed to meet the operational needs of special forces and specialized units, particularly in counterterrorism and hostage rescue operations. 

This new optotronic device, developed over the course of just over two years by Thales teams at the Center of Excellence in Optoelectronics for dismounted Soldiers, was fully funded by the French Defense Innovation Agency (AID). It reflects France's intention to provide compact and efficient night vision solutions free from ITAR export restrictions.
