Chinese military men now wear "iron suits": Exoskeletons on PLA ships take over the cargo

The Chinese army is keeping up with the times — now soldiers of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) on ships are working in exoskeletons so as not to break their backs when loading and unloading heavy boxes, ammunition and equipment. This is no longer fiction and not just a test at a training ground — real military personnel use these "mechanical suits" in real conditions, where every meter of space is worth its weight in gold, and loads are not easy.

Exoskeletons work as an invisible helper: they do not move due to batteries or motors, but cleverly redistribute the load from the muscles and spine of the soldier to their design. Imagine: you lift a 50-kilogram box, but you feel like you're carrying half as much. It's not because you've become stronger— it's because the exoskeleton takes on the brunt, redirecting it through the frame directly into the ground.

Such devices are passive exoskeletons, meaning they are not autonomous, but enhance the movements of the person himself. No wires, batteries, or complicated electronics. It's just smart mechanics that turn on with every movement, reducing fatigue and, most importantly, minimizing the risk of back and joint injuries. And on a rocking ship, where you need to keep your balance and drag cargo through narrow passages, this is especially valuable.

For the army, this is not just a convenience, but an increase in efficiency and endurance. A soldier can work longer, faster, and without exhaustion. This means that the ship is ready for combat or for the transfer of cargo many times faster. This is especially important in an environment where every minute counts and people's physical resources are limited.

China is not the first to use exoskeletons, but it is actively and systematically introducing them into the army. Such technologies are already being used not only in the navy, but also in logistics — in China, for example, loaders in Beijing and Shanghai have long been working in "robosuits" in warehouses. Even in Russia and the USA, their use is being discussed. And in China, this is already part of the daily service.

This is another step towards the "smart army of the future," where a soldier is not just a fighter, but part of a high-tech system. And if earlier the victory depended on the number of people, now it depends on how well the car helps the person.

Effectiveness of Israeli air defense in the war with Iran: results and challenges

The Israeli air defense system has shown mixed results during the 13-day war with Iran. According to official data, Iran launched 631 rockets, of which about 500 reached Israeli airspace. Israeli and American air defense systems fired 514 interceptors, shooting down 221 missiles, which gives a ratio of about two anti-aircraft guided missiles to one Iranian ballistic missile.

The Israeli Hetz-2, Hetz-3, David's Sling (Iron Dome) complexes, as well as the American THAAD, SM-6 and SM-3 systems were used to repel the attacks. Despite this, about 243 Iranian munitions landed in the desert or unpopulated areas, including important military bases, and 36 rockets hit targets, causing damage to residential areas — more than 2,300 apartments in 240 buildings were damaged.

However, the effectiveness of Israeli air defense decreased from the initial 90% to about 65% in the last days of the conflict, which is attributed to Iran's use of more modern and faster missiles that give air defense systems less time to intercept — the warning is received in 6-7 minutes instead of the previous 10-11. Iran also uses combined attack tactics using cheap drones and false targets that distract Israeli air defenses, allowing missiles to break through the layered defenses.

In addition, the high consumption of expensive Hetz and David's Sling interceptors raises questions about the long-term sustainability of the Israeli air defense system, given its limited production capabilities. Military censorship in Israel limits the full transparency of the damage, but the data indicates significant destruction and civilian casualties.

In general, despite high-tech systems and US assistance, Israel has not been able to completely neutralize the missile strikes of Iran, which has retained significant missile capabilities and continues to improve its means of destruction. Under these circumstances, Israel is considering a proactive strategy, but the current truce is probably just a respite before the next phase of the conflict.

Israel's Iron Ray missile defense system is preparing for crucial tests

 Iron Beam

The flagship of the Israeli military industry, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, will soon conduct crucial tests of the Iron Beam tactical laser missile defense system. This innovative system is designed to intercept ultra—short-range missiles - up to 10 kilometers, as well as to combat mortar shells and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Iron Ray uses a powerful laser beam with a power of about 100 kilowatts, which focuses on the target, causing it to heat up and destroy. The system is capable of automatically detecting and defeating threats using artificial intelligence-based algorithms, which ensures high reaction speed and accuracy. The main advantage of the Iron Beam is its cost-effectiveness: the cost of a single laser shot is only 5-10 dollars, while launching an Iron Dome rocket system costs about 30 thousand dollars.

Tests scheduled for 2025 will determine the possibility of adopting the system for the IDF in the last quarter of this year. The main technical difficulty remains the attenuation of the laser beam due to weather conditions - clouds, fog and rain reduce the efficiency of the system. In addition, the Iron Beam is capable of hitting only one target at a time, which requires its integration with other air defense systems, such as the Iron Dome, for comprehensive protection against massive attacks.

The system is available in three versions: mobile, stationary and marine, which expands the possibilities of its application. There has already been interest in Iron Beam from countries such as the USA, Singapore and the UAE, which indicates the high international potential of this technology.

The Iron Ray will be an important addition to Israel's existing air defense systems, strengthening protection against missile and drone threats and reducing defense costs. Development began in the early 2010s, and the first combat tests took place in 2022, including the successful interception of a mortar shell.

Thus, Iron Beam represents a technological breakthrough in the field of directed energy weapons and sets new standards in missile defense.

Leadership change in the US Air Force Special Operations Command

General Anthony Greene

According to a statement released by AFSOC officials, the top commander of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), General Anthony Greene, who has 20,000 personnel, has been relieved of his post due to a "loss of confidence in his ability to carry out his duties."

Details of the leadership change

- Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC): This is a unit of the United States Air Force responsible for conducting special operations, including sabotage, reconnaissance, and other special-purpose missions.

-General Anthony Greene: He was the head of AFSOC and was relieved of his post due to "loss of confidence in his ability to perform his duties."

- Strength: The Air Force Special Operations Command has about 20,000 personnel, including pilots, paratroopers, and intelligence specialists.

The reasons for the management change were not disclosed in the official statement, but such decisions are usually made due to unsatisfactory results or management problems. This may be due to errors in the planning of operations, incorrect decisions, or other factors that may affect the effectiveness of the command.

A change of leadership at AFSOC may affect current and future operations. The new commander will be required to assess the current state and identify areas for improvement. This may include reviewing the strategy, improving staff training, and strengthening management.
