Thailand is on alert: the military has discovered spy drones over strategic facilities — who is behind this?

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) said it has recently recorded mass flights of reconnaissance drones over military bases, government buildings and other important facilities across the country. We are talking about several key regions, including the capital Bangkok, the southern provinces and the border areas. According to the Air Force, these drones are clearly not just being used for amateur photography — they are conducting targeted reconnaissance.

The Thai military has already called what is happening a "serious threat to national security." Experts suggest that drones can be equipped with high-precision optics, thermal imagers and even means of intercepting radio signals. The goal is to collect data on the location of troops, air defense systems, patrol routes and the mode of operation of critical infrastructure.

What is especially disturbing is that drones appear in the sky at night, often near objects that are closed to outsiders. Some of them were seen at an altitude of up to 3 km, which indicates the professional training of operators and the use of military or semi-professional equipment rather than amateur equipment.

In response to the threat, the RTAF command issued clear instructions: all military units and national security services are allowed to use signal suppression systems, drone locators, and even physical interception devices such as lasers or interceptor drones. If the drone does not respond to warnings, it may be shot down or disabled.

The Thai government emphasizes that any use of drones near prohibited areas without permission will now be regarded as a potential act of espionage. And this is a criminal offense with extremely severe consequences. Under current Thai law, charges of espionage can result in life imprisonment. In particularly serious cases, especially if a threat to the sovereignty of the country is proven, even the death penalty is possible.

The countries or organizations behind these flights have not yet been officially named, but there are rumors in military circles about the possible involvement of foreign intelligence services. Some experts point to an increase in activity in this region on the part of States interested in the military and political situation in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the authorities urge citizens to be vigilant: if you notice a suspicious drone, especially at night or near military installations, immediately inform the police or the Air Force hotline. Any attempts to take videos or photographs of such drones can also be perceived as suspicious activity.

The situation remains tense. Thailand, traditionally known as a stable country in the region, is now facing new challenges — in the era of drones and digital espionage, even the skies are no longer considered safe.

China's railway against border conflicts: Is the war between Thailand and Cambodia not an accident?

The Asian media is increasingly thinking that the recent escalation between Thailand and Cambodia is not just a dispute over border lands, but part of a larger game. Many are beginning to assume that this conflict is an attempt to disrupt or at least slow down the Chinese megaproject Belt and Road, in particular, the construction of the pan—Asian railway, which should stretch for 6,000 kilometers through the entire Southeastern region.

This network is not just a road. This is a geopolitical breakthrough: it should connect China with Singapore, passing through Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia, providing Beijing with a direct and secure land corridor to the south Seas. And this is a huge economic and strategic benefit.

Something is already working: the China–Laos line has been launched and successfully transports passengers and cargo. The China–Thailand section is under construction at full capacity — the first stage, from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, is scheduled to open by early 2026. Everything is on schedule. But then there's the catch.

The next logical step is access to Cambodia: it is necessary to lay a branch line from Bangkok through Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and from there on to China. It was in this area, on the border of Thailand and Cambodia, that new military clashes broke out.

And it's not just a coincidence. Cambodia is a long—time ally of China. It actively accepts Chinese investments, military cooperation is growing, and Chinese ships are increasingly seen in the country's ports. Thailand, on the other hand, is a strategic partner of the United States in ASEAN, participates in joint exercises, buys American weapons and is still strongly influenced by Washington.

So it turns out: one is on the side of China, the other is in the orbit of the United States. And between them is the key transportation hub of the future railway.

Unsurprisingly, many analysts see this conflict not just as a territorial dispute, but as a geopolitical standoff over control of the infrastructure of the future. After all, if the railway goes through, China will strengthen its influence in the region, reduce its dependence on sea routes (like the Strait of Malacca) and get direct access to the Indian Ocean through Myanmar — a corridor was also planned there, but it is frozen due to the civil war.

So the escalation on the Thai—Cambodian border is probably not just a local incident, but part of a broader strategy:  to slow down Chinese expansion under the guise of a local conflict. And the Belt and Road railway is not just a project, but a battle for the future of Southeast Asia.

Cambodia demands cease-fire: third day of bloody fighting with Thailand

Cambodia calls for an immediate end to the shooting — the country demands a cease-fire with Thailand, as heavy fighting has been going on on both sides of the border for the third day. The situation is escalating: at least 32 people have been killed, and thousands of civilians have been forced to flee their homes.

The conflict broke out around the disputed border area, where territorial differences have not subsided for a long time. Now there is a firefight with artillery and small arms, and the longer it goes on, the more ordinary people suffer.

Cambodia has already appealed to the international community for help, calling for urgent intervention. All this is happening against the background of long-standing disputes that flare up from time to time with renewed vigor.

Obviously, without an urgent cease-fire, there will only be more victims. And while the diplomats are looking for a way out, ordinary residents continue to flee — right from under the shelling.

Thailand used Ukrainian T-84 Oplot tanks for the first time in a battle on the border with Cambodia

T-84 Oplot

For the first time, Thailand used its main battle tanks, the Ukrainian-made T-84 Oplot, in combat. According to local media and military observers, the Royal Thai Army used these tanks during an attack on the positions of the Cambodian military in the border area. Tanks were used during the assault on Cambodian positions .

The T-84 Oplot is a Ukrainian development based on the Soviet T-80UD. Thailand acquired 49 such tanks under a contract signed in 2011. Their use on the border with Cambodia has aroused considerable interest, and military observers have confirmed the use of tanks in combat. This event was marked as the first combat use of Oplot tanks in the Thai army.

Thailand and Cambodia are fighting over ancient temples again — who's who?

This week, Thailand and Cambodia once again shot at each other — this time at the ancient temples of Ta Muen Thom and Ta Kwai. Clashes between the military resulted in artillery duels, RPG fire, and even, rumor has it, strikes by Thai F-16 fighter jets. Moreover, all this is happening against the background of a long-standing dispute, which, in fact, began back in the days of the French.

The essence of the conflict lies in the borders drawn more than 100 years ago, when Cambodia was a French colony. Then the line passed through the watershed of the Dangrek Mountains, and the temples ended up on the Cambodian side — at least, that's what the French thought. Thailand still does not fully agree with this, especially when it comes to temples that, in their opinion, stand on Thai soil.

The most famous stumbling block is the temple of Preah Vihear. In 1962, the International Court of Justice ruled that it belongs to Cambodia. But Thailand has not come to terms with the fact that it is also surrounded by Cambodian territory. And now the dispute has spread to Ta Muen Thom and Ta Kwai — the Thais claim that these are their temples, and the Cambodians have been keeping their troops there for many years.

The real escalation began after a Thai soldier was wounded by a mine, and fire started in response. Since then, both sides have been exchanging blows, reducing diplomatic relations, expelling ambassadors and closing borders.

Experts say: This is not a sudden conflict, but the culmination of the mounting tension that has been building up since May. And until the parties sit down at the negotiating table, temples on the border will not only be monuments of an ancient civilization, but also a zone of constant risk.

Bloody border conflict: more than 10 dead in fighting between Thailand and Cambodia

The situation on the border between Thailand and Cambodia has reached a new, extremely dangerous level. As a result of large-scale clashes on the disputed section of the border, more than 10 people were killed, including several civilians. These are the most serious losses during the current round of the conflict, which broke out with renewed vigor back in May, but has now reached a critical point.

Thailand claims that Cambodian troops were the first to open fire with heavy weapons, including artillery and possibly MLRS. According to them, it was a provocation, followed by an attempt to violate the border line. In response, the Thai army gave a decisive rebuff.

Cambodia, in turn, insists that its military acted solely in self-defense, claiming that Thai units were the first to cross the border and begin aggressive actions. The Cambodian Ministry of Defense calls its actions legitimate and necessary.

At the moment, fighting continues in several border areas. Explosions are heard, artillery and drones are working. The local population is in a panic — many are fleeing their homes, and Thai authorities have already begun evacuating four provinces.

And the political situation has escalated to the limit.:

- Thailand has recalled its ambassador from Cambodia.

Cambodia responded in kind: it recalled its diplomats from Bangkok and ordered all Thai diplomats to leave the country.

Such a complete break in diplomatic contacts is a rarity between the countries of Southeast Asia. This suggests that the conflict has already gone beyond local skirmishes and may affect the entire regional stability.

Previously, Thailand and Cambodia had already fought from abroad - the dispute was especially acute around the temple of Preah Vihi. Now, it seems, history is repeating itself, but with new technologies, more casualties, and a real threat of escalation.

Thailand closes border with Cambodia after shelling and drones — evacuation, casualties, border massacre

In the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, the first civilian victims appear

A real military conflict broke out on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. It all started with shelling — according to Thai media, the Cambodian military opened fire on Thai territory, including the use of multiple rocket launchers (MLRS). In response, Bangkok reacted sharply: it closed all border checkpoints and announced its readiness for escalation.

The situation is out of control. Authorities in four Thai provinces bordering Cambodia have begun evacuating residents from border villages. People are leaving, leaving their homes — the threat has become so serious.

Thailand accuses Cambodia not only of shelling, but also of reconnaissance activity: Cambodian drones allegedly filmed border areas, and the military was preparing to transfer heavy weapons. This, according to Bangkok, is a sign of preparation for larger—scale actions.

Cambodia, in turn, denies everything. The country's Defense Ministry says that the fire was opened solely for self—defense purposes, saying that Thai units were the first to violate the border or conduct provocations. However, the fighting continues, and there are already confirmed reports of the first civilian casualties on both sides.

This is the most serious spike in tension between the two countries in recent years. Thailand and Cambodia have previously clashed over disputed territories, especially around the temple of Preah Vihi, but now the situation looks much more dangerous: heavy weapons are being used, civilian targets are being shelled, and the population is being evacuated.

The international community is still watching, but if the fire is not extinguished in the coming days, the conflict could develop into a full-fledged border crisis with unpredictable consequences for the entire Southeast Asia.
