Turkish "surprise container": Roketsan revealed a hidden launcher for barrage ammunition at IDEF 2025

EREN

At the IDEF 2025 International defense exhibition in Istanbul, the Turkish company Roketsan surprised the audience by presenting a truly unexpected version of its new EREN barrage ammunition system. The main feature is the container option, which radically changes how mobile operations can be conducted in enemy territory.

Imagine an ordinary cargo container mounted on the side of a truck. At first glance, this is a typical picture on any road. But inside this "civilian" container, an entire strike system is hidden: it is capable of carrying and launching up to 12 high-speed barrage munitions. This disguise allows you to deploy a powerful fire group almost anywhere without being noticed. This is a direct blow to the enemy's intelligence systems — the launcher looks like a harmless transport.

This innovation is not just another modification, but a real turning point in Turkey's strategy. It highlights the country's desire to create weapons that are both adaptable, survivable, and easily deployable. The system is ideal for quick reaction and pinpoint strikes on important targets, while remaining in the shadows.

The potential of this container platform is huge — it is interesting both for the Turkish army and for export markets. Its appearance vividly demonstrates the growing global trend towards the creation of multi-purpose modular weapon systems that can be quickly adapted to any task.

Turkish Laser Eye: Nero Industries unveils revolutionary drone GLD-466

At the IDEF 2025 international defense exhibition in Istanbul, the Turkish company Nero Industries challenged the usual notions of tactical drones by presenting its latest development, the GLD—466 laser-guided drone. This system is positioned as something that can radically change the rules of the game in modern warfare, where drones are becoming an increasingly dominant force.

The GLD-466 is not just another FPV drone or a barrage munition. It is designed for high-speed and, most importantly, high-precision operations, and is equipped with advanced laser guidance technologies. Its key advantage is a unique combination of three factors: affordable cost, reusable capability, and high target acquisition accuracy. In an era when the battlefields are increasingly filled with disposable drones, the idea of a reusable but effective combat vehicle looks especially attractive.

Nero Industries claims that the GLD-466 directly bridges the "gap" between expensive man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) and conventional, often less accurate, guided munitions. This makes it a versatile tool, suitable both for defeating lightly armored vehicles and for delivering pinpoint strikes against fortified positions or enemy manpower.

The presentation of the GLD-466 at IDEF 2025 was a clear indication of the growing role of not only autonomous platforms, but also innovative guidance systems in future conflicts. The Turkish defense industry is once again demonstrating its ability to offer cost-effective and tactically flexible solutions for modern armies.

Turkey has released a combat "dog" with missiles

KOZ

At the IDEF 2025 international defense exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey stunned the world with its new development — KOZ, a robotic "dog" on four legs that does not just walk and turn, but shoots laser-guided missiles. Yes, you heard right.: This is a real fighting machine, similar to a metal dog, but with a weapon capable of hitting a target from a distance.

The developer is the Turkish company Roketsan, known for its high—precision missiles. KOZ is not a toy, but a serious platform combining artificial intelligence, autonomous navigation and shock capabilities. It can independently patrol complex terrain — ruins, forests, mountains — detect targets and, at the command of the operator or in semi-autonomous mode, deliver pinpoint strikes.

The exhibition showed how KOZ carries miniature laser—guided missiles, the same ones used in other Turkish drones and systems. This allows her to hit enemy armored vehicles, shelters, or manpower with high accuracy and minimal risk to her own.

Why do we need such a "dog" at all? In modern conflicts, it is increasingly necessary to operate in urban environments, where cool equipment — tanks and armored personnel carriers — is vulnerable. But a small, agile robot can penetrate where no human can go and destroy the threat before it strikes.

KOZ's debut is not just a technology show. This is part of Turkey's ambitious strategy to become self-sufficient in defense: from drones to robots, from electronics to missiles. The country is already known for its Bayraktar drones, and now it is moving further into the era of autonomous combat systems.

And although KOZ looks like a prototype so far, its appearance is a signal: the future of war is already here. And it's not really barking, it's shooting.

For the first time at IDEF 2025: the Turkish Otokar Tulpar infantry fighting vehicle with an Italian turret became a hybrid of a tank and a combat vehicle

Tulpar

At the IDEF 2025 international exhibition in Istanbul, a serious player in the world of armored vehicles was shown for the first time — the Otokar Tulpar infantry fighting vehicle, now with a reinforced Leonardo HITFACT MkII 120 mm turret. And it's not just an upgrade — it's a breakthrough in a concept where Turkish engineering meets Italian firepower, creating something between a classic infantry fighting vehicle and a light tank.

Tulpar was known to be a tough nut to crack before: armor, mobility, protection — everything is on the level. But now, with the new tower from the Italian Leonardo, he has literally crossed the border. The 120mm cannon is no longer just for infantry support, it is a serious blow to armored targets, including other infantry fighting vehicles and even tanks in vulnerable areas. This combination makes the Tulpar a versatile machine: it can both accompany infantry and engage in combat with heavy equipment.

What's especially cool is that the entire platform remains Turkish, and the tower is integrated without loss of balance and controllability. This is not just an assembly of parts, but a well-thought-out system where electronics, guidance and armor work as a single mechanism. This approach allows Turkey not only to reduce its dependence on imports, but also to export full-fledged combat systems, not just chassis.

The background is also important here: the region is in full swing. From the Middle East to Eastern Europe, there is a growing demand for mobile but powerful fire support systems. Armies want equipment that arrives quickly, immediately engages in battle and can fight back not only infantry, but also armor. Tulpar with HITFACT MkII is just such an option — light, fast, but with deadly weapons.

It's not just a new car, it's a signal. Turkey is showing that it is no longer just producing infantry fighting vehicles, but creating competitive world-class combat platforms. And if earlier such decisions were the lot of major military powers, now Ankara is confidently among them.

Turkey has put air defense on wheels: IDEF 2025 showed an anti-aircraft Kaplan with a Teber-2 turret

Kaplan ADA

At the IDEF 2025 exhibition in Istanbul, the Turkish company FNSS presented not just a new machine, but a serious response to the main threat of modern wars: drones. Meet Kaplan ADA, a mobile anti-aircraft complex on a tracked platform, equipped with a powerful Teber-2 TMT turret. It's not just a tank with a cannon—it's the eyes, ears, and fists of mechanized units fighting for the sky.

The main idea is simple: previously, air defense was either stationary or lagged behind the advancing troops. And drones, as we see in Ukraine and the Middle East, are hitting precisely the frontline positions. So, Kaplan ADA closes this gap — it rides with tanks and armored personnel carriers and can shoot down an enemy drone, helicopter or even a cruise missile at any second.

The Teber-2 TMT tower is the heart of the system. It has a 30 or 35 mm cannon (depending on the configuration), a radar, a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder. The machine detects targets by itself, accompanies them and fires — even at night and in the rain. And all this is at speed, without stopping.

For Turkey, this is not just a novelty, but part of a larger strategy: to create fully domestic, integrated combat platforms. No dependence on foreign supplies — everything is your own: from armor to software.

In an environment where drones are flying everywhere, and control of the air decides the outcome of the battle, Kaplan ADA is just what you need. This is not just an anti-aircraft gun on tracks. This is a mobile shield for an entire combat group, capable of surviving and winning the hottest conflict.

Turkey has figured out how to shoot ballistics from containers — the new Roketsan system shocked at IDEF 2025

Turkey has just shown a trump card: at the IDEF 2025 defense exhibition in Istanbul, Roketsan introduced a system that can make military competitors' eyes go dark. Imagine: an ordinary shipping container is the same as that of trucks and ships. And inside is a ready—to-launch missile system capable of launching six Kara Atmaca (ATMACA-UM) missiles with a range of more than 400 kilometers.

Yes, yes, you heard right. This is not a launcher in the bushes or on a military base — these are missiles from a container, as if from a box. Such a "gift package" can be easily driven into a port, put on a truck, or even hidden in an urban area. And then — once! — and launch at a target that would be unsafe to poke with your finger.

The system is based on the already well-known Turkish anti-ship and land-based Kara Atmaca missile, but modified for sea containers. It is part of a new concept: stealth, mobility and surprise. The enemy doesn't know where you are, doesn't see the launcher, and when he hears the roar of the engines, it's too late.

Roketsan says it bluntly: This system allows you to strike from places that *look completely harmless*. That is, you can be standing on the beach, in an industrial zone or in a parking lot — and suddenly a ballistic missile launches from this "peaceful" container. It's not just convenient, it's psychologically overwhelming.

For Turkey, this is another step towards full independence in military technology. And for other countries, it's a reason to think: now a missile strike can come literally from nowhere.

Turkey has rolled out a new "scorpion" cannon: AKREP II with Cockerill turret at IDEF 2025

AKREP II with Cockerill turret

At the IDEF 2025 international arms exhibition, the Turkish company OTOKAR once again showed that it can make serious machines. The focus is on the updated AKREP II armored combat vehicle, but now with one important "feature": the CSE 90LP combat turret from the Belgian giant John Cockerill was installed on it.

What does it mean? In simple words, a small armored car has received tremendous firepower. The CSE 90LP turret is equipped with a 90 mm cannon, which is capable of piercing not only light armor, but also serious fortifications, and in the future, even outdated tanks. At the same time, the tower is lightweight, automated and ideal for platforms like AKREP II, which are valued for their mobility and fast delivery.

The AKREP II itself is already a proven vehicle: wheeled, fast, with good protection, it is used both for patrolling and in combat conditions. And now, with the new tower, he is turning into a real "hunter of technology" — especially in the context of local conflicts or urban battles.

Such cooperation between a Turkish manufacturer and a European gunsmith is not just a beautiful stand at the exhibition. This is a signal to the market: Turkey is seriously focused on exports, combining its reliable platform with advanced European weapons. And if you need a compact, but at the same time firing "heavyweight", the AKREP II with a Cockerill cannon can be an excellent choice.

Turkey has released a supertank with a laser against drones — ALKA-KAPLAN breaks through borders

ALKA—KAPLAN

Have you ever heard of a tank that shoots lasers instead of bullets? Turkey has just introduced such a thing, the ALKA—KAPLAN hybrid vehicle with a state-of-the-art directed energy system that effectively fights drones right on the battlefield.

This is not just another tank, it is a real high—tech project that combines a tracked chassis, a hybrid engine and a laser capable of shooting down drones in different conditions. Imagine: small drones, quadrocopters, even enemy ammunition — for ALKA-KAPLAN they are like laser targets.

Drones are increasingly being used in wars and conflicts today. They can do reconnaissance, strike, and even mine the area. There was a great need to defend against them. ALKA-KAPLAN is the answer to this threat, which allows you to destroy drones quickly and efficiently, without loud volleys and at minimal cost.

It is based on a hybrid power plant that is powered by a battery and an engine. This gives the tank the energy to launch the laser, and also allows it to operate autonomously without unnecessary noise and exhaust. The laser precisely and quickly incapacitates drones, and the system does not depend on satellites or GPS, which is very important on modern battlefields.

ALKA-KAPLAN will be released at the IDEF 2025 exhibition in Ankara, one of the largest defense exhibitions. There, Turkey intends to show the world its technological leadership and willingness to implement cutting-edge developments.

It is planned that the ALKA-KAPLAN will enter service with the Turkish army in the next couple of years. In addition, this system may have foreign buyers, because such protection from drones will definitely be in demand today.

In general, if it used to seem that tanks were just armored vehicles with guns, now lasers and high technology are coming into play. And Turkey is clearly not going to lag behind. ALKA-KAPLAN is a bold step into the future of warfare, where the one with the best "electronic weapons" will win.

Turkey is preparing a surprise: TALAY kamikaze drone in the style of an ekranoplane

TALAY

Turkey is preparing to present a rather unusual device, the TALAY kamikaze drone, at the IDEF 2025 international exhibition. This is not just another drone, but a real innovative project from Solid AERO. The main feature of TALAY is its design based on the principle of an ekranoplane.

Ekranoplanes are aircraft that use the "air cushion" effect that occurs when flying at a very low altitude above a flat surface, for example, over the sea. Because of this, they are more economical than conventional aircraft and can carry more payload.

In the case of the TALAY drone, this means that it can fly further, carry a more powerful warhead, and at the same time remain compact. Such a device will be especially effective against ships and objects in ports — here it has practically no equal.

So it's definitely worth keeping an eye on this project at IDEF 2025 — perhaps this is a new stage in the evolution of attack drones.
