Raytheon unveils Improved MTS-A HD Multispectral Guidance System for U.S. Navy Marine Helicopters

Raytheon, which is part of RTX, recently revealed an updated version of its multispectral guidance system, the MTS-A HD. This new system is designed to help U.S. Navy helicopter pilots see even more clearly and aim more accurately, especially when missions take place in difficult conditions, such as poor visibility or at night.

The MTS-A HD is an improved sensor suite that complements the long—used MTS systems. Currently, such systems are installed on more than 400 helicopters of the US Navy, and thanks to the new option, the work of the crews will become even more efficient and safer.

This upgrade will give pilots an advantage when performing search and rescue operations, reconnaissance, or any other tasks where high accuracy and clear imaging are important. As a result, this will help to increase the combat effectiveness and protection of personnel.

The "Needle Fish" in the Persian Gulf: Kuwait receives advanced unmanned patrol boats

Needlefish

The American company Ocean Infinity, known for its underwater research, decided to expand its horizons and created a high-speed unmanned patrol vessel called Needlefish. This is not just a boat, but a real technical masterpiece for marine surveillance. The vessel is 14 meters long, 6 meters wide, and it is equipped with two jet engines, which allows it to reach speeds of more than 40 knots (over 70 km/h), and some sources indicate even more than 40 miles per hour. This speed is achieved thanks to the catamaran's unique "cutting waves" design.

Needlefish is designed specifically for Kuwait's difficult conditions and is capable of patrolling vast territories — up to 11,000 km2. It is equipped with a complex of advanced surveillance sensors, including cameras, radars and RF sensors, which allows monitoring both above and below water, transmitting data in real time to command centers. The boat is controlled remotely.

A key feature is its integration into the advanced SRT C5iSR marine surveillance system from SRT Marine Systems. This integrated system, controlled by artificial intelligence, creates a national surveillance network for Kuwait. The first two drones have already been handed over to the Kuwait Coast Guard, and one of them recently demonstrated its capabilities during exercises for senior officials.

It is important to note that in the current configuration, Needlefish has no weapons and is intended exclusively for reconnaissance, surveillance, mapping and geodetic work. Meanwhile, in March 2025, the Pentagon unveiled its prototype of the USX-1 Defiant unmanned surface vessel, a much larger 54—meter (180 ft), 240-ton ship designed for fully autonomous long-duration missions.

Cockroaches with backpacks: how live insects became spies of the future

Imagine a cockroach crawling across the floor in a secret bunker, and you think, "That's disgusting." But in fact, this is a spy of the future. This is how SWARM Biotactics sees the world, which has turned live cockroaches into real cyborg scouts — small, inconspicuous and very smart.

Each insect received a miniature "backpack" — a tiny electronic system that controls movement, collects data and transmits it in real time. These "backpacks" include sensors, communications, and even artificial intelligence elements. Cockroaches no longer just run from the light — they are now controlled remotely, and they perform tasks in places where neither a drone, nor a robot, nor a human can get through.

Why cockroaches? Because they are hardy, agile and inconspicuous. They can fit through cracks, survive a collapse, move silently, and work in environments where machinery will simply break down. And with a "smart" backpack on their back, they turn into living intelligence nodes.

According to Stefan Wilhelm, CEO of SWARM, we are entering an era where the key advantage is access to places where no one could get before: ruins of buildings, underground tunnels, hostile territories. And ordinary robots are often powerless there. But a swarm of such bio—cyborgs - launched and forgotten — can spend hours collecting video, sound, temperature, chemical signals, everything — and unnoticed.

The technology is scalable, cheap, and, importantly, extremely low—visibility - no noise, thermal traces, or radio signals that are easy to intercept. This is not just a novelty — it is a new paradigm of espionage and intelligence.

SWARM positions its systems not only for the army, but also for rescue operations, such as searching for survivors under the rubble after an earthquake. But it's obvious: if a cockroach with a backpack can get into a secret facility and record everything, it's no longer fantastic. This is the real thing.

And yes, there may soon be more than just a cockroach in your house. An agent with a mission.

Chinese spy in the United States pleads guilty: Stole blueprints for super-secret missile sensors

A major scandal in the world of high technology and national security: a citizen of the United States and China, Chengguan Gong (59 years old), officially pleaded guilty to espionage in favor of China. In fact, he stole what is worth billions — the smart brains of the American missile defense system.

That's how it was. Gong worked as an engineer for some secret scientific company in Los Angeles (the name is not called, but it is clear that it is serious). And last year, he simply collected more than 3,600 files — an entire digital library of secrets — and transferred them to his personal flash drives and external drives. And these are not just any notes: the files were clearly marked as strictly confidential, and their total value is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

What exactly did he steal? The most advanced developments in infrared sensors that protect the United States:

* Missile detection systems in space — these sensors should capture the very moment of launching nuclear missiles and track their flight, including ultrafast hypersonic ones.

* Aircraft protection systems — sensors that sense when heat—seeking missiles are aimed at a military aircraft (the ones that "see" the engine heat), and allow you to turn on protection - for example, to launch a false target or suppress the missile signal.

* The development of the "next generation" — technologies that will be able to detect even very  inconspicuous targets  that previously could have escaped the radar.

* Mounting and cooling designs — even how these super-sensitive sensors are physically installed and cooled also ended up in the package.

All this stuff was found at Goon's house in Southern California. The US Department of Justice emphasizes that it acted to help China develop its own military technology. This is not just a theft of intellectual property, it is a direct interference in the strategic defense power of the United States. The trial continues, and such a confession of guilt is usually followed by a serious sentence. History is a classic example of how one person with access to secrets can cause enormous damage.

Northrop Grumman is testing space interceptors for the Golden Dome — the race for the contract is underway

The situation around the grandiose American program about the Golden Dome is heating up. Northrop Grumman said it has already begun ground tests of orbital interceptor missiles designed for this system. This is a serious step forward and a clear signal to competitors.: We're in the game, and we're not just drawing on paper anymore.

The Golden Dome program itself is an ambitious plan to create a multi—layered shield against missile threats, including sensors in space, interceptors and powerful control systems. The goal is to intercept ballistic and possibly hypersonic missiles at the earliest stages of flight, right in space. Northrop Grumman, as one of the key contractors, has already received a major contract for this program.

However, so far everything is not so simple. It turns out that the US military itself has not yet fully decided on exactly what characteristics these space interceptors should have. The requirements are still being clarified, which creates some uncertainty. That is why the competition between companies for the right to supply components for the Golden Dome is becoming especially heated. Everyone wants to take their place in this multibillion-dollar project until the rules of the game are finally fixed. It turns out that Northrop Grumman is already testing missiles, but the customer has not yet said exactly which missiles he needs. An interesting situation!

ISL IGB 50 Guided Bomb for Attack UAVs

 ISL IGB 50 guided bomb

From the point of view of the overall architecture and design features, the IGB 50 product is a guided planning bomb. At the same time, the design of such ammunition uses a number of interesting solutions aimed at improving overall combat effectiveness.

An original fuselage has been developed for the IGB 50. It is made of composite material and has a special shape formed by two curved surfaces. In the central part there are longitudinal niches to accommodate the folding wing, and in the tail there are rudders and stabilizers. It is claimed that such a "glider" provides the required flight characteristics and reduces the visibility of the bomb for radars.

The exact dimensions of the bomb were not disclosed. Judging by the published materials, the length of the product does not exceed 1-1.2 m. The wingspan is not more than 0.8-1 m. The caliber of the aerial bomb is set at 50 kg. At the same time, the actual weight of the product may differ slightly from the stated one.

The IGB 50 is equipped with a combined control system. On the main part of the trajectory, the flight is carried out using satellite and inertial navigation. In the target area, an optoelectronic head is attached to the guidance process. The control system can be connected to the onboard equipment of the carrier drone to obtain the necessary data.

The optoelectronic GPS is made using artificial intelligence. Electronics and special software must determine the target against the background of various objects and accompany it regardless of the maneuvers of the ammunition. It is claimed that the IGB 50 product can attack a selected target along different trajectories. Both a gently sloping approach and an almost vertical drop are possible. In all cases, high accuracy of the hit is claimed.

After the drop, during an independent flight, the aerial bomb can reach a speed of at least 0.5 m. The claimed and proven drop range is 50 km. Perhaps the IGB 50 is capable of flying faster and further. Such parameters mainly depend on the characteristics of the media.
