The US Marine Corps launched missiles at ships from Okinawa — the new NMESIS system is in action

The Marines of the 3rd Division spent several weeks in intensive training.

NMESIS — mobile missile salvo from the shore

In recent weeks, the US Marines have been actively practicing a new tactic: launching anti-ship missiles from shore at naval targets. For the first time, this was done from Okinawa, a key American foothold in Japan. The missiles were launched from the NMESIS (Naval/Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System), a mobile, stealthy and extremely dangerous system for enemy ships.

This is not just an exercise. This is a demonstration of how the United States is changing the rules of the game in the Pacific Ocean.

Studying in Japan is not just an exercise, but a signal

The NMESIS system arrived in Japan on July 10, after which the Marines of the 3rd Division spent several weeks in intensive training. They practiced deployment, camouflage, targeting, and finally launch. The successful launch was a confirmation of combat readiness.

The location in Okinawa is not an accident. This is the closest point to potential "hot spots". Here you can control the East China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, and even part of the South China Sea.

How does a system that hides and hits accurately work?

NMESIS is not a stationary launcher. It is an unmanned truck based on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) chassis, which can move through difficult terrain, disguise itself and quickly change position. It is equipped with two Naval Strike Missile (NSM) missiles from the Norwegian Kongsberg.

The missiles are inconspicuous, maneuver in front of the target and hit with high accuracy. And most importantly, the system is autonomous. You can deploy it, launch it, and leave it without leaving a trace. It is almost impossible for the opponent to understand where the blow came from.

185 km to the goal — why is the USA in the Pacific Ocean

A range of 185 kilometers is not just a number. This is a zone where you can reach enemy ships without leaving the cover of the land. Imagine a small group of Marines deploying on an island, launching missiles and disappearing. During this time, the ship can already be hit.

This tactic is part of the "distributed operations" strategy, where there are no large bases, but there are many small, secretive and deadly points. This makes the opponent vulnerable and limits his freedom of action.

The US Navy unveiled the Bengal MC autonomous boat, "44 tons of pure force" for a new era of naval warfare

The US Navy welcomes the arrival of the Bengal MC AIRCAT, the most advanced autonomous naval boat that can transform the approach to maritime operations. Dubbed "44 tons of pure Power," this high-speed boat was developed by Eureka Naval Craft and positioned as a revolutionary platform combining advanced technology, high combat power, and autonomy.

The Bengal MC is capable of operating in both manned and fully autonomous mode, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of tasks, from reconnaissance and patrol to strike operations. Its key advantage is the ability to carry and launch large missile systems, including Tomahawk cruise missiles and Naval Strike Missiles. This makes it possible to significantly reduce dependence on larger and more expensive ships, such as destroyers or cruisers, for long-range strikes.

Despite its modest size, the boat has an impressive payload and high speed, which ensures fast delivery of weapons and equipment to the desired location. At the same time, Bengal MC demonstrates exceptional fuel efficiency and low operating costs — important factors for long-term operations.

Special attention is paid to the control system: the integration of the advanced navigation platform from Greenroom Robotics ensures high accuracy of autonomous maneuvering, resistance to interference and readiness for integration with future artificial intelligence systems and network-centric solutions.

The creation of Bengal MC marks the transition to a new model of maritime defense — with an emphasis on multiple, flexible and autonomous platforms capable of operating as part of a single network. Such boats can be used to create "smart" minefields, cover amphibious operations, or as advanced reconnaissance and strike sites.

Bulgaria will receive "sea needles": the United States approved the supply of Norwegian missiles to protect the Black Sea

Naval Strike Missile (NSM)

Bulgaria is seriously taking up the protection of its coast. The country will receive a new powerful coastal defense system, the Norwegian—made Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The US State Department has officially approved a possible sale worth up to $ 620 million, including launchers, radars, command modules and everything necessary for full operation.

What kind of "beast" is NSM?

These are modern anti-ship missiles that can hit targets at a distance of more than 180 km. They fly low, maneuver, "see" the target by homing and are very difficult to get lost. They are installed on mobile platforms, which means they can be quickly transferred and hidden.

Why does Bulgaria need such a system?

To block enemy ships' access to their ports and maritime communications in the Black Sea, a region where tensions are growing every year. Especially after the events around Ukraine. Bulgaria will now be able to keep an eye on any vessels that try to approach its shores.

Plus— it is fully compatible with NATO. NSM is already used by the USA, Norway, Poland and other allies. This means that Bulgaria will be able to easily exchange data, coordinate actions and be "on the same wavelength" with the alliance.

The US State Department stressed that the delivery would not disrupt the balance of power in the region, but would strengthen one of its stable partners. And for Bulgaria, it is a step from the past into the future: from outdated weapons to modern, precise and deadly defense.

Now it remains to wait for the deal to be officially concluded. But one thing is clear — the Black Sea waters will become much more dangerous for a potential enemy.

The American NMESIS system in the Philippines: strengthening deterrent capabilities in the region

The US Navy's Naval Anti-ship Missile Interdiction System (NMESIS) has arrived in the Philippines, underscoring Washington's desire to strengthen the allies' defense capabilities amid growing tensions in the region. Experts describe the current situation as a period of "security anxiety," and the deployment of this advanced system could be an important step towards strengthening regional stability.

What is NMESIS?

NMESIS is a mobile coastal anti—ship system that uses Naval Strike Missile (NSM) missiles to engage targets at sea. It was designed for rapid deployment in remote areas and is capable of effectively threatening even the most modern enemy ships. The system is mounted on a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) chassis, making it highly mobile and ready for action in any environment.

Role in Balikatan teachings

Brigadier General Michael Logico, head of the annual Balikatan joint exercises, said on Tuesday that NMESIS will be actively used as part of these maneuvers, which will take place from April 21 to May 9. The Balikatan exercises conducted between the Philippines and the United States are one of the key elements of the two countries' defense cooperation. The presence of NMESIS demonstrates the willingness of the parties to work out complex scenarios for countering maritime threats.

Why is this important?

The NMESIS deployment in the Philippines is of strategic importance. Given China's growing influence in the South China Sea and its aggressive actions in disputed areas, such a system can become an important deterrent tool. Its mobility and accuracy make it possible to effectively protect the sea borders and ensure the security of allies in the region.

A period of security anxiety

The current situation in the Asia-Pacific region raises serious concerns. The Philippines, as a key U.S. ally, is facing pressure from China, especially in the South China Sea. The deployment of NMESIS on the territory of the country symbolizes Washington's support and readiness to jointly repel threats.

Prospects for cooperation

NMESIS' participation in the Balikatan exercises will be an important milestone for the Philippines and the United States. This will not only strengthen their defense ties, but also allow them to work together in the face of real threats. In addition, the use of such a system can become an example for other countries in the region that seek to protect their maritime borders.
