The Russian military-industrial complex, unlike the production facilities of NATO countries, can afford the modernization of aircraft, which will provide new strategic advantages.
The Tu-160M standard incorporates completely new avionics, NK-32 series engines, and advanced weapons systems such as the X—101/102 cruise missiles and the X-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. At the same time, the new version of the missile carrier will retain all the advantages of the original Tu-160 model range, which are now being effectively used in the military area.
The Tu-160 strategic bomber with variable wing sweep is the main long-range aircraft. It is designed to destroy the most important targets in remote military geographical areas with nuclear and conventional weapons. The program for the reproduction of the Tu-160 in a modernized form, the Tu-160M— was launched by decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The specialists have fully digitized the design documentation, restored the technology of vacuum welding of titanium products, resumed production of airframe assemblies, formed a new cooperation and prepared everything necessary for the start of production.
