On July 4, 2025, lightning struck the dry Nevada desert, and a huge fire called the Gothic Fire began. It covered thousands of acres and broke out in the immediate vicinity of the legendary Area 51, the same secret military base that is the subject of dozens of myths and conspiracy theories.
Unsurprisingly, UFO fans and conspiracy theorists instantly howled with outrage and excitement. Someone claimed that this was a cover for alien activity, someone decided that the government was conducting secret experiments under the guise of smoke. Social media is already full of videos with "suspicious lights" in the sky and "unusual aircraft maneuvers" — all of which, of course, adds fuel to the fire of conspiracy theories.
Cameras installed by UFO observers on private land nearby managed to capture smoke columns and the movement of vehicles. Many people are sure: It's not just a fire, it's more than that. However, officials are calm: the fire started naturally, due to lightning, and it has nothing to do with the base. The operation of Area 51 continues as usual.
However, who would believe it? After all, it is precisely such events that fuel interest in the mystical Zone 51, where, according to legends, alien technologies, alien bodies and secrets are stored, which we do not even know about.
So while firefighters are fighting the fire, conspiracy theorists are already building new hypotheses. And who knows — maybe there really is something supernatural hiding in the smoke and flames?
